As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

This is a great idea. I could make it a game and use it to encourage my girls to help me.
I am going to start again on the first of Jan! I have a one page yearly calendar that I can use to check off the days I manage to declutter. I'm going to attempt to do the whole year.
I REALLY need to downsize!!!!

Jennifer! I'm so psyched that you want to get serious about downsizing! I've really let things balloon at over the last few years and it's turned into quite a mess. I'm so jazzed to have some company. Especially fun company that share my Disney-Park fan girl status!
Whew. Got through two top drawers in my kitchen. Throwing out about 25 items, mostly plastic forks and duplicate can opener type stuff.
It didn't make the drawers appreciably more manageable. I realize I probably need some dividers in the drawers, but I'd need to get DH's buy-in on that.

I'm a huge paper saver. I'm always worried about if I may need a receipt or a warranty and save things for years! I need to de clutter my den/ spare room mostly but whole house too. I would love to get down to where we could live comfortably in a "Tiny House"
Okay, here's my Wednesday decluttering report. I had to get the spare room ready for guests tonight, so I did a clean up in there. I still need to go through it with a fine tooth comb but I discarded an entire large recycling bin (think roll to the curb trash can) with various plastic containers. I also tossed about a dozen generally useless odds and ends, and recycled a bunch of papers and magazines that I was saving "in case" I needed something in there. I haven't laid eyes on them in a year or more....I don't need anything in them.

Holly, WTG. That is a major de-clutter success! I have a few things I'd love to get to, maybe even today. I'm socialled out and just feel like puttering around the house...
So, as I mentioned previously about my declutter method (1 item on the 1st, 2 items on the 2nd, etc...) we are doing a slight tweek on that...
I have printed out a calendar of the year and hung it on the frig.
Yesterday, DH and I started going thru the bedroom - mostly all his clothes.
We kept track of how many items were being donated or thrown away....We ended up with 70+ items between him, DS and I to start. (DH was brutal when he got into his t-shirts and he had A LOT of them) We then highlighted the days that added up to that number!!
So the goal is to highlight the entire year! Still have more to do in the bedroom, but we made a good dent and over the course of the day we highlighted 6 days!! So we made a great start and we have three bags of clothes and shoes to go for donation!

That is a great idea too. Yesterday we did a major clean-up/out of our family room. We had a full garbage bag and a large cardboard box full of stuff to donate. The girls were actually excited about the clean out because they got a new Lego table from Santa and it needed somewhere to go.

well you have me hooked now, cleaned 2 kitchen cabinets, removed a box full of expired food and dishes no longer used. 1 box of Christmas stuff and 2 bags of magazines. Thanks for the kick start.

This is a great idea. I might have to borrow this.
I've made little progress the last few days (so many holiday things going on) but I did get rid of 2 pans that had seen better days. Hope to accomplish some more today.
Since the girls did such a good job on the family room on Sunday we tackled under their bed last night. I was afraid that my little one was going to get lost under the bed. It was her job to slide under there and send it all out. Things didn't go as smoothly as Sunday, but we did get it finished. Lots of garbage, a few donations and they took a lot of things back where they belonged (including a lot of dirty socks and underwear). We have one more kid-centric area we need to clean out so we can get all of the Christmas gifts put away and I am hoping to do that tonight or tomorrow. I am hoping to get a couple grown-up areas done before we leave for Disney in 17 days. I am definitely planning on doing some paring down of our clothes as I am packing and maybe getting rid of some decorations as we take down Christmas and put the regular stuff back up.
I've been out of town so I haven't been able to join in.
You might want to check out http://flylady.net/ --she has lots of great ideas about regaining control over your life by getting rid of the clutter. She recommends a "27 Fling Boogie"--challenging everyone to go through the house and trash/donate 27 items, and to declutter for 15 minutes every day. I don't follow the full program, but she has good stuff on that website.
I have been following Dana White at http://www.aslobcomesclean.com/ for a while now. She has a great perspective on the fact that her house will never be perfect and that re-decluttering will always need to be a part of her life. She has a blog, podcasts, e-books and she just turned in the manuscript for her first real book.
