As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great deal with some delicious meals, a score on the Christmas tree skirt, and simply being in the bubble!
Our meals were very good. I was so happy to find that Christmas tree skirt. The one I found online was 180 and this one was only 80, much better and just as cute.

The boat ride was very nice and relaxing. Lunch and dinner were both yummy. It was a nice non park day.
My TR for the next several days of this trip will be kinda sketchy. My DH started taking the notes and I stopped. His notes were in his phone and somehow that note got corrupted and disappeared. There seems to be no way to recover it without paying a hefty price and it was apparently not saved in his email. So I have to piece these days together from pictures and receipts and memory. I will have to do my best.
I also forgot to mention that during the last week of school and right before our trip Jonathon had a meltdown and somehow scratched his right cheek pretty badly. So you can really see it in his photos as it is pretty fresh. Unfortunately it was a pretty deep scratch and it is now a scar. I am putting scar stuff on it and hopefully over time it will fade. It saddens me so much.
This is our first actual park day and we chose the Magic Kingdom.
I am not sure what time we got up but I don't think is was too late. I know we got to the MK fairly early and we went in search of breakfast. That was a futile search. The last time we had come to WDW we had seen that they were serving breakfast at Tomorrowland Terrace so that is where we headed. That was a no go as they no longer served breakfast there. So we sat at one of the tables and tried to figure out what we were going to do. In the mean time we got out Jonathon's cereal (Fruity Cheerios) and started giving them to him. We always carry his cereal with us for snacks when we are waiting in line so this came in handy.
I think I went off in search of finding someplace else that might have breakfast but I could find nothing. Apparently you can no longer find a counter service breakfast in MK any more. That really bites. After a pit stop I made my way back to Mike and Jonathon and we just gave him the rest of his cereal. I believe Mike went off and got some coffee from the Main Street Bakery. We had both had some Pop Tarts or something in the room before we headed out so we were good for now. Jonathon is ALWAYs hungry and for some reason just does not want to eat in the hotel room. I think he figures he is on vacation so why does he need to eat in the hotel room. LOL
I believe at this point after Jonathon was done we headed back up Main Street to go to our first FP which was to meet Mickey. I was so hoping that is was the talking Mickey as we had yet to meet that Mickey. Fingers crossed.
We stopped for some pictures along the way.
We got to the Town Hall and in we went. We went through the FP line and we did not have to wait too long before we were inside. Yes it was the talking Mickey and it was so amazing to see him talking to the people in front of us. I have to admit I was a bit teary eyed to have him talk to us.
I wished the PP photographer had taken some more pictures here but it was just so wonderful to meet the talking Mickey and I loved it. I think after this we headed towards Fantasyland as our next FP was the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I was getting hungry at this point and we stopped at Gaston's Tavern And I got a cinnamon roll and a large diet coke. I must have been very hungry as I did not take a picture of the cinnamon roll. I will say that it is absolutely huge and enough for 2 or 3 people. Mike had a little bit of it but he is not a fan so I ate what I could and we all shared the diet coke since it was huge as well. Once I had my fill we just dumped the rest.
We took our potty breaks and I think we took our time wandering around FL until it was time for our FP. When it was time we got in line. I don't remember exactly how we got on. I am sure they had a wheelchair line and we took our time getting Jonathon loaded. I had to sit with some lady I did not know. I actually did not like that but it is what it is.

I can tell you this that while it is not a big thrill coaster it is definitely not as tame as you would think it would be. I do not think that Jonathon cared for it all that much at all. He recovered quickly though. Once that was over we went to ride IASW. We did have to wait a bit here. We had just missed the wheelchair boat. We were fine with that though. I think Jonathon prefers this ride to SDMT.
I believe we when and got a DAS return time for HM before heading to BOG for our lunch ADR. Now I know that making ADRs for this was fairly new but we had to wait inside for a fair amount of time just to get to the ordering kiosks. We did not preorder as I did not want to with Jonathon's allergy. Once we finally got to kiosk with a CM and we went through the allergy part for Jonathon, then we were able to easily order our food. Then we went inside to find a place to sit. I wanted to sit in the rose room since it was closed when we had ate here for dinner. So we found a table and I got a drink for myself and Jonathon and Mike got some water.
I took some pictures while Mike sat with Jonathon and waited for the food. They did not give us a rose and I assume the found us with our MBs because our food was brought right to us.
Our food arrived. It seems I only took a picture of our sandwich.
Mike and I ordered the same thing. The Roast Beef sandwich with Pommes Frites. I was actually very good. We ordered Jonathon the kids Grill Cheese with green beans and tomato soup.
Jonathon was actually being quite the brat here and for some reason was trying to pinch me. We ended up actually sitting him a bit back away from the table and both of us and let him call down. It took a while for him to relax. I let him have some of my fries. Then he tried the grilled cheese and did not much care for it or the green beans. He did however actually like the tomato soup a lot. So he pretty much ate the tomato soup and some fries.
Then it was time for dessert.

Lunch took us some time. I took some more pictures before we left.
We then left there and went on the little mermaid ride. I wanted to see what they had done to the ride when the refurbished it recently.
This scene is much more vibrant now and really pops and stands out. I liked how they changed it. After our ride under the sea we headed back to go ride HM. I am sure we made a pit stop at the Rapunzel bathrooms first. We then took our ride through the mansion. Then we headed over to POTC to get a DAS return time. That took a while as the CM was having computer issues.
Continued tommorrow as I think it is time to turn in for the night.
What a great start to the trip so far. It has been a long time since I have eaten at Boatwright's but your meal looked delicious. I think the first time we ate there was when entrée and dessert was included in the regular dining plan and it was so much food...but so good. We are staying there next September so I am hoping we make it back for a meal.
And meeting Princess Sharon was the perfect way to start off your dinner
I totally agree that MK needs more breakfast options. I think SDMT is a bit rockier from the very back where you all were. We've ridden in the very front and the very back. I preferred the front.
