Yes, It IS About the Food OR Two Foodies Do WDW From Table To Table--TR - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh wow, this trip already sounds amazing - I can't wait to drool over all your food pics, because you will be taking lots, right?
Ohhhhh, yeah. Have iPhone, will pic take.
The one you can really start drooling over is V&A's Chef's Table--all 10 courses. Well, I take that back--only 9 while we're there--you will get to see those fabulous handmade chocolates in the to-go box. We're always so stuffed by the friandise course that we get them boxed and make them last a good long while.
Well, I'd better get some zzzzzzz's. We're leaving at 5:00 in the morning.

We are colder than you. Not that this is something to be happy about. We are currently sitting at -7 with fresh snow. It was a very rude awakening for us last Sunday. The day before we were in the 60's and woke up to 30's, rain and snow before the day was over. We have had multiple days below zero this week and more snow. YUCK!!

Yup, that would be me, wide awake since 11:30. Might as well regale you with the tale of our last-minute pre-trip UN-fun.
It began at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday night when the smoke alarm inside our bedroom started doing that infernal low-battery chirp. Woke me up with a start. Amazingly, DH Drew didn't stir since usually the slightest noise will wake him. The blasted thing did it six times and then stopped. Yes, I was counting. Wasn't a low battery, then. I was certain that was unlikely since we'd had them all replaced just two months ago to prevent being awakened like this. Figgers.
But now, I was wide awake. Got up and took my Kindle to the living room to try to wear myself out and maybe get back to sleep. Forty-five minutes later, here the bleepin' thing goes again. Still didn't wake Drew leaving me wondering if he was dead. I dunno how many times it chirped, more than eight, and then quit.
Why is there a smoke alarm INSIDE our bedroom, I gotta wonder, when there's one directly OUTSIDE the door. Ya got me other than it's an apartment, and policy dictates there must be one inside each bedroom in case people sleep with door closed.
So, I wait around awhile after series two and then hope that's all for the night. Turns out it was, and I finally got a few hours more sleep.
To shorten the story, the maintenance request I submitted got lost in cyberspace; I ended up calling the emergency line so we might get any sleep Thursday night. A guy came right over, took the alarm out, said they'd bring us a new one in the morning.
Friday morning, I'm puttering around sorting some trip things to get ready to pack. Seems unusually chilly. Yup, you guessed it--our furnace was out.
Thankfully, maintenance got that fixed quickly. And it could have been much too exciting as they found a burnt wire with a larger capacity circuit breaker than the furnace should have. Recipe for disaster that thankfully was discovered and corrected. I heave a hugely relieved sigh, finish up laundry, and then start packing.
There was one more thrill in store, however. When I got the mail that afternoon, there was a cancellation warning on the insurance for one of our cars. Not my car, of course, but the minivan which we were taking to WDW and then on to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. I had foolishly laid the bill aside unpaid after carefully removing the new card and putting it in the car. If that notice hadn't arrived when it did, we'd have been oblivious to the fact that the policy had been canceled right before Thanksgiving, three days before returning home.
So, we had some bad luck resolved by very good luck.
Now, I need Lady Luck to give me a decent night's sleep!

Sorry you had a mostly sleepless night. That chirping from the alarms makes me crazy! It's really a good thing you live in an apartment, though. If it were a house, you couldn't just pick up the phone and have maintenance come to take care of it. One of the things I'm very grateful for as an apartment-dweller!

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew
My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
1. Afternoon Tea was a sheer delight. Got photos of everything. I'm much more fond of Princess Kate and her tea than I dreamed of being--the Princess Kate Tea with Veuve Cliquot champagne, that is. Drew had the Buckingham with some excellent tea sandwiches and delectable pastries to finish. Details upon our return home.
Forgot to add that instead of the plain white china we saw people using last year, the Royal Albert Old Country Roses pattern is back, perhaps the result of the refurbishment? I was so pleased as that pattern was a childhood favorite and like an old friend re-encountered.
2. Christmas Party weather fantastic! Totally made up for last year's drizzle. So warm--low 60's--it seemed miraculous. Holiday Wishes's aerial show has really been cut to nothing much. Last year's was far better. This one was about what regular Wishes was last year.
3. Am buying the new Haunted Mansion purple handbag tomorrow. Price indicated online was $99.95. Nope. Marked at $70.00. At that price, yup, gotta have one. Gorgeous!
:::::: yawns hugely ::::: Nighty-nite time
