As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I fly to Quebec, spend the arrival night at Le Fronterac, then board the ship with two days in Quebec, then Port Sanquenay, Hallifax, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport, NY City, Charleston, SC then get off in Port Everglades.

Great start to your TR! I was in Bar Harbor one time for the day off a cruise ship and DH and I LOVED it. We want to return sometime in the near future, so I'm very anxious to read your report! I may have lots of questions along the way, my first being would you recommend Emery's Cottages? We're thinking of an early fall trip, so I don't think we'd miss the AC.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, because they are super clean, the owners are very nice and the view is breathtaking! That said, they are older cottages - very New England. Pretty much most of the places to stay in BH are campy type
Let me apologize right off the bat for my bad trip reporting skills. the pic was so tiny after I posted it....oh well, onward!
Day Two (Tuesday 7/15).
Hopefully it will be sunny. If acuweather is right, it should be a fairly sunny day. Here is what I'm thinking we will do. Up early (not Disney early though) and have something light for breakfast in our room. Although, I read that there is some sort of cafe' in the hotel that has grab n go items and coffee. So I may check that out. Then we are off to Acadia. Since I'll have my pass for the week already, there is no need to stop at the Visitor's Center. It's important to do the Park Loop Road one complete time in order to get the lay of the land. Then when you loop around a second time, you can start stopping off at points of interest. There are very popular spots to hit, like Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole etc. Hopefully the tide will be just right when we stop at Thunder Hole. it is a really cool carved out section of rock/granite?? that makes a loud clapping sound (like thunder) when the waves enter and exit it. It is sorta hard to explain, but very cool, when the ingredients are right
The drive up Cadillac Mountain is a must. Once at the top, you can park and explore. The view is amazing. This is the stop to go to catch a sunset. You would not believe what that looks like from that elevation. Did you know that Cadillac Mountain is the first point in the US to see the sunrise.? Many Many people make the pilgrimage to see this every clear morning. But you have to get up so early to do this, and I never make it. So sunsets are for me
I think we will head back to the hotel to enjoy the pool and pool bar. We can order lunch and drinks. Finger's crossed that it is warm enough and sunny enough on this day. Back to the room to change before we head to the downtown area for dinner. I'm not sure where we will stop to eat. There are SO MANY places to go. There is this cool place, called Route 66, it has old fashioned cars and memorabilia. My kids will like it. AFter dinner we may walk the "Shore Path" that leaves from the park by the water. It travels a little ways along the shore past mansions of old. Very cool. Or we will make our trip of many out towards Bar Island. You can walk on this sand bar when the tide is out to look for sea treasurers. Every evening you can see lots of people walking around, all looking down! Its kinda a comical sight With any luck we will find colorful seaglass to add to our collections back home. Then back to the hotel to sleep.
Day two sounds like a winner to me! I hope the weather and the tides are just right for you. I've seen the sunrise from the top of Cadillac and it's a thrilling sight. (Technically, it's the first spot in the US to see it only in the spring and fall, because of the position of the sun. Close enough, though!)
The little photo you posted is better than nothing, I think! The image is much bigger when I click on it and it would be sad to miss seeing at least a few photos of Acadia. I agree with Cam, that I've found it much easier just to post photos from Photobucket than going through all the steps the other way.
Day two sounds great! We loved Acadia. We didn't have a chance to get up to Cadillac Mt. but we road the Island Explorer (free if you didn't know) all around and saw a lot of the sites, it just wasn't enough time to see it all!

Why is it that right before you go on a vacation, some major expense from home hits ya! right in the head! Not only do we have two cars that need all sorts of work this week, my daughter hit a curb and popped one of her NEW tires and her tuition bill came in the mail. I knew tuition would be going up this year, but I mean really!!??
Anywho....here are my "hopeful" plans for day 3:
Weather permitting, we will get up fairly early this day (eat something small in the room from the stash I brought along), I'll have to make sure I get my good cup of joe somehow (I'm a coffee snob btw) - side note here, I am so thrilled that Disney has Starbucks now! Yippee, no more hideous coffee. Do you know on my last trip to the world (2011) I brought my own ground, strong coffee with me in my carryon and I would perform my nightly ritual of making my iced coffee for the next morning. I perked it in the room in two small batches. Then I would chill it in the fridge overnight in my resort mug. The next morning my oldest would bring her mamma ice from our handy dandy ice machine and viola! They made fun of me by Day 4 of that trip for doing this!....lol
Ok, back to reality: We'll try to board the first bus to the Magic Kingdom for rope drop....oh yea, not going to be in the bubble - I mean we'll get in the car and head back into Acadia.. My plan this fine Maine morning is to get to Jordan Pond House and hike around Jordan Pond while viewing "the bubbles" in the backdrop. Jordan Pond House was originally built in 1847. It sits right at the entrance to some of the most beautiful carriage roads that traverse the park. After you are done with your hike, most folks attempt to get a seat on the lawn for some lemonade and popovers. Their popovers are legendary! Seriously amazing with homemade jam. Last time I was here, I got their seafood chowder as well. I will have to get in line straight away before it opens for seating, if we are going to have any chance of getting a lawn seat. Waiting in line here to get into this restaurant, reminds me of the olden days at Disney - pre ADR - when you would wait in line forever to get into a good restaurant. (Anybody remember those days)
If the weather is warm enough we may head back for that hotel swim and cocktail (well the cocktail will be for me and mocktail for the girls). I'm not sure about dinner this night. Last year, Tom and I found this little place that served great lobstahhh rolls. It is a very rustic hole in the wall, where you pick your own seat either outside at picknic tables or inside a screened in porch. They were delish...(did I mention my oldest has a severe allergy to shellfish - that's right folks, my kid needs an epi pen and I'm taking her to the land of the lobster! What kind of mother am I??
Later that evening I want to try to do one special "event". There is an improv show in downtown BH called Improvacadia. I have seen it two times already. It is great! Improv is so much fun and uses audience participation. The girls will love it. Afterwards maybe some ice cream will be in order as we stroll the quaint streets once again before retiring. (Boy I sure hope our hotel is nice enough! - it is always a hit or miss in Maine). I think my expectations are a bit too high and I need to get it in check before we go so that I'm not disappointed).
