Disney or Bust- A Celebration of Life- October 5th-12th 2012.... - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad you got your stuff in from the Disney store! Maybe you will hear back from them soon regarding the extra shirt. Good luck finding luggage tags you like!
So fun when packages arrive from the Disney Store.
To quote my son, "Yes. Yes it is." LOL!!

Got some travel booklets in the mail today. I love reading about anything Disney. LOL!!
I finally got DH to sit down and look at a few menus with me. It's not that I doubt that he can find something to eat, I just don't want him to be hungry after we eat and want more. LOL! I want him to enjoy his feasting at Disney too. LOL!
He did say that he was fine with me booking whatever meals I wanted to, but he did request that I leave one meal a day free so that we can eat if we get hungry early.
See, we usually eat an early breakfast and a late dinner. Then, whenever we get hungry during the day we eat lunch. So, he just requested that we live most of our lunches open. LOL!
I'm fine with that. And he did tell me that most of the food that I was worried about was something that he would be interested in trying.
See, we are very different in what we eat and like. I love the Melting Pot. He thinks that it's a waste of money. Too much money and not enough food. I would honestly go there just for the chocolate. LOL!!
DS will eat it, but I think he just likes cooking his own food. DS & DH love seafood. I can only eat fish. I can eat clams and oysters, but that's about it. I'm normally afraid to venture out of my comfort zone as far as the places that I eat. See, we live in a small town and most of the people that work at the restaurants know us. They know I'm allergic to shellfish so they always take extra steps to keep me safe.
Now that I know that Disney is great with allergies, I'm starting to venture out of my comfort zones. DH as to go to Cape May. I think I surprised him when I agreed. I just need to figure out if we are going to do breakfast or dinner there.
DS is not really into character meals. He has agreed that he will take some pictures with some of the characters. He's named some of the characters from Kingdom Hearts. He loves that game. LOL! So, we might do the dinner there. Although, I might decide to just do breakfast. Still figuring that one out.
We bought the luggage for the trip and the locks. Got all of the stuff that I ordered from the Disney store. Basically now all I'm waiting on is making my ADR's. Trying to decide on what are must do's, what are we would like to do, and what we can skip. LOL!! We have a few places that are must do's on every trip. Garden Grill for one. Crystal Palace is another. That's the one character meal that I won't miss. LOL!!
I told DS that I wanted to eat at the Castle. LOL!! I got a look that said, "If you're gonna do that then you are going to be doing it alone." LOL!! He ate there when he was 5 and I bring out the pictures to remind him of how cute he was. LOL!! I told him that we need to do it once every 10 years and it's an anniversary thing. Again, I got another look that could kill. LOL!! I don't think I could even convince DH to do it. LOL! My guys are just no fun anymore.
I'm just so excited about this trip. Although I'm a bit worried today. We live in Alabama and have a bunch of severe weather in the area. A tornado went through just South of us. So, we are preparing for some bad weather. Gotta love Alabama. LOL!!
So, I'm going back to pouring over the boards and looking at other trip reports.
Thanks for reading my ramblings. LOL!!

Enjoying reading your posts. My husband is a Mike too. He will let me do all the planning, "whatever you want Honey, fine with me." However, when I either tell him or we are doing what I planned, "we are doing what? eating where?" My Mike eats a lot too!
Have one DD - she is almost 20. She is my partner in all Disney! Mike loves it too, he just doens't want to plan it!
Okay, so I bought a few Disney Gift Cards for our trip. I figure that's one way that we can save $$ and not worry about spending it on other things. We bought it at Target and DH works at Target. The best part about it is that DH gets a discount on things. Even gift cards.
Well, let me tell you one thing. DH was in the doghouse this weekend.
Lets back up a bit.
Okay, so maybe I was PMS'ing. Maybe it was just the terrible week that I'd had. Whatever it was, I wasn't in the mood for any more people telling me that I talk too much about Disney.
Well, we went to Shoney's. For those of you that don't know, Shoney's has an awesome breakfast buffet. Well, DS and I went to get our food. I actually went first and then DS went. Leaving DH sitting at the table. Well, I went and sat down just as DH was going to get his food. DS looked at me and said, "Dad told me that I shouldn't talk about Disney with you. Because you already talk about it too much."
Okay. At first I thought he was kidding. Then, I asked him if he had made it up. He tried to tell me that he had. Well, the way he looked and the way he said it, I knew that it was all his dad saying it. So, DH gets back to the table and I asked him if he said that. He started getting mad at DS. I looked at him and told him no. I want to know the truth.
Okay, this is where I know I was probably PMS'ing. Because he admitted that he said it. Well, it took me all of 4 seconds to burst into tears. I called him a few choice words and picked up my purse and walked out of the restaurant. I seriously debated leaving him there. He's the only person that understands my obsession and he's supposed to be the one person that I can count on to listen to me. It hurt when he said that to DS. I'm not even sure why.
Well, DS comes out to the car and asks me to come back inside. I was being stubborn and refused. So, DS went back into the restaurant at about the time that my stomach started rumbling. Dang it! Do I want to be stubborn, or do I want to eat. A few more stomach rumbles later and I decide to go back inside. Crap. So much for making a point. LOL!
Well, DS and DH both apologized and everything was back to normal. I was still a bit upset, but I got over it. i just took a few opportunities to remind him that I wasn't happy and he had better be glad that I had already paid for a non-refundable airline ticket. LOL!!
I can laugh about it now, but at that moment, I was ready to leave him at the restaurant.
So, I went and bought 4 of the Brita water bottles at Target. I bought 4 replacement filters to go along with it. Well, they were $17.99 for a two pack. I thought I got a good deal. Right? Wrong. We went to Sams yesterday and I found a 3 pack for $19.99.
DH had the receipt and I asked him for it. He told me that I had it. Uh, no, you had it because I was hunting for the Disney gift cards. He kept arguing with me and that's when DS told him that I was right. LOL!! Well, then he changes his story and says that they can look it up because we used the Target debit card. LOL!! Men....
Well, all is back to normal today. I had a good laugh about it at work. The girls are pretty much tired of hearing about it. Which I haven't talked about it all that much! Just a little. Okay, maybe more than a little, but I'm excited. I'm finally going back home!!
Got most of my ADR's figured out. Just need to wait on the October hours and then I'll solidify them.
Thanks for listening to my rant.

Okay, so the hours finally came out for October. Well, I finally made up my mind on where we are going to eat.
Okay, so I've been mulling over my dining options for awhile now.
Some of these places are brand new to us. Some of them are old favorites of ours. Okay, so actually a lot of them are new. There is me, DH and DS 15. DS is by far the fussiest eater of the three. Although he has never met a piece of steak that he hasn't liked. He is also a huge chicken nugget and pizza eater.
DH is a bit easier to please. He can usually find something to eat anywhere. He even indulged me and went to The Melting Pot for our anniversary. :rotfl:
DS also requested that we not do too many character meals. Especially any of the playhouse Disney characters. LOL!
We are doing the Deluxe Dining Plan. I most tried to do ADR's for breakfast and dinner. We like to eat an early breakfast and later dinner. We are more flexible on lunch and mostly eat whenever we get hungry.
We aren't planning on doing any of the parks that day. However, I do want to eat at T-Rex.
Arrival day-
Friday- T-Rex-Dinner
Saturday-
Breakfast-Crystal Palace (one of my absolute favorites)
Dinner- Tony's Town Square (I'm up in the air about this one. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on it. If there's a better place to eat I'm open to recommendations.)
Sunday-
Breakfast- Tusker House (this is another one of the character meals that DS will do. He indulges me in this one.)
Dinner-Sanaa (This is another new one for us.)
Monday-
Lunch-Mama Melrose's (This one will be a first for us in many years. The first time we tried it here we didn't like it. However, over the years our tastes have matured and I find that I'm looking forward to trying the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. And DS love oil and pepper with bread.)
Dinner- Hollywood & Vine-Another new one for us.
Tuesday-
Breakfast- The Wave. Another new one for us.
Dinner- Garden Grill. This one is one of DH's favorites. Actually we all like it. DS likes it because of the fact that the restaurant rotates. So, this is another must do for all of us.
Wednesday-
Breakfast- Chef Mickey's. Another new one. I've always wanted to try it and I told DH and DS that we are doing it this trip.
Lunch- Le Celier Again, this is another new one for us. I've heard such great things about the soup here that I have to try it.
Dinner- San Angel Inn- DS loves this place. Yeah, my picky eater loves Mexican food. We took a mother/son trip 6 years ago and it was his favorite place to eat.
Thursday-
Breakfast- Tusker House
Lunch- Yak & Yeti- Another new one.
Dinner- Planet Hollywood. I'm taking a chance with this one. Because we went there about 10 years ago and we had a terrible experience. We haven't been back since. I've heard that it has gotten better so we've decided to give it another try.
Friday-
Breakfast- Ohana- Definitely new.
Dinner- Teppan Edo- another new one.
If you have any comments of suggestion I am definitely open to them. Especially on the new places we are trying.
