As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yea I know it's only a Tuesday night, but for Coop it's Friday! Burn-out day tomorrow,I'm sure she'll catch you all up on things.Although not much is happening,Disney Planning wise, there is a lot to do.We are really tidying up the place,so our kids have free run of the place for the 2 weeks we'll be gone. I have been doing what Coop calls "ruthless pitch" It is very therapeutic.
Drove the Mini today to work,it's been a while TONS of fun,in a little tiny space.
We are experimenting with swapping cars on a daily basis,or whichever car is "outboard" in the driveway we take.To be honest,I am SO looking forward to taking"Mickey" tomorrow.
We've done Jeep Disney travel before...years ago...I had a Jeep Cherokee. Very comfortable for the drivers and driver passenger....backseat was horrible.
I was worried that DH may be cramped as the passenger. But he says it is fine. It seems that there's more leg room in the Mini - believe it or not. But it will be just us two so only Duffy has to deal with the back seat.
So - I will just update here and then start a new titled TR when we get back. I think that will make Chuck feel better anyway about making my PTR freeze. He is no longer allowed to post pictures (I’m pretty sure that’s what caused it to freeze because he cut and pasted rather than posting as an attachment)
1 - Car situation. I LOVE both our cars now. I am no longer worried about the Bug needing tires or a water pump or a new temperature sensor or timing chain or, or, or . . . The Mini is fun and small, and Mickey is really spacious and comfy. It has satellite radio - yay! Great for the trip! It will cost about $200 more in gas for our trip (total) which would make flying actually cheaper but now we WANT to drive! (And I think Chuck wants to bring Duffy - J)
2 - Work. Work is work. I’m done for the week but we are heading into cold and flu season. Always at the start of school - a new bug seems to circulate. So I’ve started taking my Airborne now. I can’t afford any more time off before vacation!
3- Health - DMiL is home and healing. Chuck’s ribs are “doing fine” according to him but I believe he now has aforementioned virus. Time to kill a chicken and make some homemade chicken and dumplings!
4- Disney. Not much new on the planning front. I’m in the planner’s wasteland. You all know it. The time when you’ve completed all the ressies and plans etc. but it’s still too early to do online check in or pack. We are just saving for trip $$ now. (souvenirs, gas, food and lodging during the road trip, tips, extra $ for FAB’s and F&WF)
5 - General - I just hope all those who were following my PTR can find me here. Sorry for the temporary interruption.
But I will continue with quotes by WED:
“We believed in our idea - a family park where parents and children could have fun- together.” - Walt Disney
Yep we are in the "flat band" for Disney planning. Just hoovering,a few minor things to do now,but it will really ramp up with about 3 weeks left.
One of the things we did was get a couple of storage tubs to hold certain stuff before we pack, and to keep the babies out.Having a white cat means little white hairs EVERYWHERE! sort of like Easter basket grass.
As the weather changes here in Michigan we have to remember that it's warm and sunny in Florida. So it's important not to pack anything away in storage so we don't forget it for the trip,ie: sunscreen, bathing suits, sandals, ect. That's what the tubs are for.Pink for girls, black for boys(no blue)
Great updates Coop and Chuck! Yes, I know about that down time in planning, I am just coming out of it.
Question? I get sick very easily bc of my Lyme Disease. Every year I worry about getting sick before the trip, especially bc DD goes to school for a week before we leave. Does that Airborne really work? Do you recommend it?
Disney Planning Wasteland. Yep, been there. Sorta there now. If I was to animate DPW it would be a large dark room (somewhere in West Wing of Beast's Castle perhaps) with nothing but a wooden chair and a metronome tick, tick, ticking the time away. Gradually, I gather my legs to my chest (something ONLY accomplished in animation) wrap my arms around them and periodically chew my nails to the quick. Teeth chatter, eyes begin to bulge and dart left to right and sweating commences.
Hope you're not is Disney Planning Wasteland too long!
I wasn't following the other thread (I get overwhelmed with so many threads sometimes) but of course the jeep in the title caught my attention here. But I wanted to say, it's really fun hearing from both of you. I bet the TR will be such a hoot to read!
for the update! I'm sure folks will find your PTR!
Thanks Cam! And thanks for trying to "unfreeze" the other PTR.

Well, Sparks - I work in the ER and am exposed to EVERYTHING! (And for some unknown reason, my immune system is not quite up to the task because I seem to pick up EVERYTHING) So I do take Airborne when cold and flu season starts. It does seem to work for me and I figure it's just extra vitamins and minerals so it can't hurt. On top of that, I take a multivitamin, fish oil, flax seed oil and try to have lots of fruits, veggies and at least 2 Liters of water a day. I also have raw honey and tea before bed.

Jeep, Jeep!! I still miss my '82 CJ7.
Yay I was worried that you wouldn't find me! You got the animation right. (And my knees would only be pulled up in animation as well!) Include rocking back and forth - that ticking is driving me CRAZY!!!!
