As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It's just okay. I used it several years ago, along with touringplans.com, the PassPorter and every other guidebook out there for the first couple of trips.
Then I didn't get TGM again until last July and the reason why I got it was because I was taking my Mom who had only been a couple of times before. The articles are good to read and the way he explains why you should or should not go into the park. Mom found it interesting. I now use the touringplans.com and follow their advice, for the most part.
Would I get it again? I might do it when I bring first-timers.
I think it really just comes down to personal preference regarding any of the subscription-based services -- and the only way to find out which one you like best is to try them (or a few? Or all?).
However, we all can definitely agree and atest to their legitamcy, so have no fear when subscribing, we've all used them for years! choosing!
Is it worth it if you don't have the roaming feature on your cell phone. I am out of country and the roaming charges are horendous so we were told only to use text, not e-mail and I would gather that applies to websites too (correct me if I am wrong please). Would you still get it???
I've just had a bad experience with TGM. I had used the service in the past, and so I joined again when I started planning my next trip. My original plan was to go this past October, so that's the date I entered. But I had a problem, so I rescheduled for January and that date fell through, too. When I tried to change again, the website wouldn't let me, so I sent a request.
They said that it was for one trip only, tough luck. So, I sent a long detailed email explaining what was going on in my personal life and why I couldn't go on the trip. Second response said it was for one trip only, tough luck.
Next, I send a message that only said, I couldn't take my trip please renew. Then I got two or three messages telling me that they had reset my account. But it never worked.
I finally sent them an email asking for a refund because they say that satisfaction is guaranteed. I haven't heard back from them and I don't expect to.
I would NOT recommend TGM to anyone.

I'm sorry your scheduling issues caused a problem... but it sounds more like they just held you to the terms and conditions to which you agreed when you purchased the subscription.
It's a shame they couldn't be more accomodating though...

No, they are not holding me to the terms and conditions of the subscription. They say that the subscription is for one trip and 30 days after that trip. My second schedule had our trip this month ending January 10th, so I should be able to get into the website until February 10th, but they have locked me out of the website.
They also say satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. I'm not satisfied.

It's definitely a bummer when a trip cancels, but according to TGM's policy, when you purchase "access" to his site for a particular trip -- you are bound to that trip for continued access. Since your initial access was deemed for an October 2010 trip, you had access to the site up to the departure date of the October trip plus 60 days after your initially stated return date.
So the fact that you "rescheduled" your trip for January 2011 but still attempted to use your access to the site bought for the October 2010 trip, you technically broke his TOS; however, since that trip too has since fallen through and a third reschedule will probably begin on a date after the October 2010 trip's plus 60-days-after-you-return's additional access has expired, you will have to purchase a new subscription. . .if wanted, of course.
Remember that TGM is a business first and foremost, and due to you having access to his site from the date of purchase of the October 2010 AVP and beyond, I think TGM would have been more accommodating to a partial (or full) refund if you would have notified him of the cancellation prior to the original departure date back in October. Additionally, as is my understanding, the "100% satisfaction guarantee" would have applied to the touring advice he provided for use on the October 2010 vacation. However, since you did not go on (and cancel his subscription prior to) that trip, the non-satisfaction to his advice that was not used wouldn't apply.
In any event, I don't say all of this without knowing how disappointed you must be! The fact that I was fortunate enough to go on each of my planned trips these past two years was basically what kept me afloat in the sea of yuck that has been my own personal life. . .
So know that I get "it," and I truly hope that your next attempt at a trip will be a go! Planning for Disney vacations is definitely therapeutic and such a great way to escape the trials and tribulations of "real" life!
However, even if a new trip isn't in the immediate future, just remember we're all still here to help you plan a "what-if" trip, you know, just in case!
Elizabeth, I am so sorry that you had to postpone your trip(s). But think about it this way -what would prevent any Tom, Dick or Harry from saying "oops, I had to postpone my trip" and keep extending their subscription dates to cover several trips. You may not do this, but I am sure that there are many people out there who would.

Then they changed the terms of his agreement, which is entirely possible. I know it asks you when your trip is and it tells you to not worry if you don't know the exact date you can change it. I know we had to change ours several times (we were originally trying to go in 2010 but then DH got laid off, a niece & nephew got married - no not to each other and it got post-poned to this year).
It was really good when we used it in 2005 but I'm wishy washy on it this time due to some stuff being outdated but we will see how it goes. There are good parts to it but not sure I can recommend it as highly as it was when it first came out.
