♥ ♥ Lovey Dovey in Disney! -- Our PTR for Dec 2010 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great stuff!! I agree Dec is nice weather for Disney travel! Your trip dates sound perfect.... all the Christmas magic without all the crowds!! We were there on Christmas day 2002 it was crazy busy... we will never do that again!! I would love early Dec, it sounds amazing!! Are you going to Mickey's Christmas party? I have never been to it...heard wonderful things about it.... maybe one day...Keep the posts coming!!
ADR's sound great. We enjoyed Fish and Chips at Rose and Crown with a few Goldens in the pub on another night. Filet Mignon with Mushroom risotto (I think that is what it is called) at Le Cellier. DH would love to stay at the Polynesian. Your going to have a fabulous time.

your plans look wonderful and so does your dining choices, we eat at mostly all of what you have listed. I love them all.
Thanks! I'm really excited about the food... My fiance thinks I'm being silly because I'm going on a diet to lose a few lbs. so that when I gain them back at Disney it won't be such a big deal!

Yep! It was beautiful during the day and quite chilly at night. I remember being at Animal Kingdom during my first stay, waiting for the bus and my toes being numb! I love cold weather, it's just cozy to me. Does that make sense? It reminds me of all the cozy things in life; hot chocolate , a warm fire crackling in the fireplace, snuggling with the one I love most , etc. -- My next post will reveal all the fun events we plan to check out!

WOO! for post-trip reports!... Well, except for the post part.

Doug is absolutely stoked about Rose & Crown's fish and Chips!
We were going to get it by counter service but I was able to surprise him with an ADR. I can't believe our luck with Le Cellier, we got the very last available ressie for the whole time that we're going to be there!

Thank you! I'm really pushing for Cat Cora's Kouzzina now in place of Maya Grill for breakfast. Can ya believe I've set my start page to Disney's dining reservation site so that I can check every day for availability?

PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.

Sounds like a good way to catch Kouzzina to me! and for getting it!
Your dining plans look great and you'll be there at the perfect time. Thinking of doing the Christmas Party?

Hey everybody, I hope everyone's sunday is going as beautifully as mine!
Thanks a bunch for tuning in and passing on some luck! I think this post'll answer a few questions I've been getting about MVMCP. I hope you guys enjoy!
So, I started building a planner (scrapbook style!) to hold all the informational goodies we are going to be bringing along with us. I took some pics to share:
All of our plane who's-its and what's-its go here. I must've printed every receipt, e-mail confirmation and flight time change twice! We've booked our flights and hotels with Expedia, I gotta say we're pretty happy with our decision.
Our flight departs on the morning of the 5th at 7:10 am, very happy about that. Not too terribly early, but not too late either. ..Eep, I'm super nervous about the flying part, I get antsy just thinking about it......I haven't been on a plane in over 10 years! -- That's okay though, DF promises to hold my hand.
We're going to bring a portable DVD player along, and we agreed to pick out a series to go with it. ..No, you guys. Episodes of LOST will not be on the menu of what we'll be watching. I simply refuse! ..Some madlibs to pass the time, and I know for sure I'll have my iPod with me, I gotta have music if I wanna keep the jitters away!
First stop is Houston. We'll have nearly a 2-hour wait before we board again. A teensy bit longer than I was hoping for, but it could be worse, right? Our last take-off is at 10:15 am and it's onto our first destination (landing at 1:08 pm): Jacksonville, FL.!
Neither of us have ever rented a car before, but after much research and consideration, we decided to go with Hertz. We found a decent (I guess?) deal on a car for a week (5th-11th) costing us $424.23 total. And from what I understand, a $200.00 deposit since we're doing the whole debit thing. -- Hopefully all works out well, We'll see!
We thought it would be really fun to drive out a day ahead (Dec. 4th) of our flight and stay at the fancy shmancy Hyatt Regency Hotel by DFW 'cause 1.) it's right there, we wouldn't have to rush like a couple'a crazies the next morning to get to our flight on time, and 2.) ...Have you seen the place? It's b-e-a-YOU-teeful! ...plus, 3.) The uh...Dallas Galleria isn't too terribly far. Ladies, you know what that means; Shopping!
DF's step-dad got us an amazing deal at the Courtyard by Marriott. I've never stayed at a Marriott before so I'm really looking forward to it (a lot of first-times on this trip)!
Then of course, the ever so gor-juh-mous *sigh* Polynesian resort.
We found a couple of ticketed things we wanted to do both on the way to the Mouse's House and while we're there. First on the list is the St. Augustine Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium, in all of its kookiness, how could we pass it up? -- I was here in 2008 with my family but didn't get to see everything I wanted to see. For DF it'll be his first time so I'm really curious to see what he thinks of it!
Our first day on property we're revolving around Islands Of Adventure. We're pretty big Potter fans so of course, we have to see the brand new Wizarding World.
I'm most excited to explore the shops, especially the ones with all the crazy candy...like chocolate frogs, acid pops, bertie bott's every flavor beans-and I don't even like jellybeans!
We're gonna grab lunch at Three Broomsticks and I'm absolutely stoked to try the Pumpkin Juice (and possibly even sneak a teensy ..chug... of DF's butterbeer, it sounds fantastic)!
And then of course there's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, we wouldn't miss it for the world (the other one )!
A special spot for any and all of the most important addresses we could possibly think of.
I ended up sneaking the maps from my 2010 passporter guide DF bought for me to store in here...(shhh..)
All park hours including extra magic hours are right here! We lucked out on our World Showcase day, we'll be travelin' til midnight.
Dining ressies! I used my favorite disney movie theme for this one.
If you read the previous post, you know the yummy spots we've picked to dine. I can't wait to post bunches of "food porn" for you guys after the trip! ..well, I can defintely wait, but'cha know what I mean.
Now, can you believe we've even planned where we'll be having breakfast at in the airport + printed out menus for it? Yes, folks.. it's that bad. ..But it's so good at the same time!
(I hope you guys don't mind the smidgen of unrelated Disney stuff!)
Lunch in Dallas @ Genghis Grill. I've never had Mongolian before, but from the things DF has told me, it sounds like a lot of fun (not to mention incredulously yummy)! From what I gather, you go in, personally pick the cut of protein/s you would like, a seasoning for it, veggies, a sauce and a starch (keep in mind, you choose however much you'd like) and then it's nom-time. Simple as that!
Dinner in Dallas @ Cracker Barrel. This place is too cute, plus the food is southern. You have to be insane to not love southern cooking. I love looking at all the old-timey stuff on the walls and in the shop!
Breakfast next morning @ DFW - Einstein Bros. Bagels... Super yummy muffins! I have one here at home but don't get around there too often. Had an orange cranberry muffin once and I was in love at first bite! Can't wait to try them out again!
We agreed after arriving in Jacksonville we should have lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I've never been, only heard how amazingly nummy the food is..and C'mon, they have like 4,832 (slight exaggeration) different types of cheesecake. How wrong can ya go? I especially have my heart set on their pumpkin pecan cheesecake...Hmm, makes me think of DF's moms'...oh my goodness it's incredible. Not so sweet that it overpowers the pumpkin, but not too pumpkin-ey that it hides the fact that it's cheesecake either. Wow, I would totally love some pumpkin cheesecake right now...Mmmm...... Oh, sorry. *ahem*
Let's move on, shall we?
We're going to have dinner at the romantic Cap's On The Water. I'm going to make DF try fried gator tail with me! Fried gator tail over candlelight and a glass of La Spinetta...Can you imagine?? -- Oh, by the way, has anyone ever tried Spinetta? Is it as awesome as it sounds? You see, I'm not a big drinker but I plan to do a little splurging on this vacay!
I found a place for us to have a quick breakfast the next morning; The Courtyard Cafe (served in the courtyard of the amazing Lightner Museum. It's so close to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium so it's perfect.
Now, for a little FYI about me, I'm absolutely crazy about cupcakes and Doug knows it. He found this little cute-as-a-button cupcake bakery called Luli's Cupcakes, so we're going to swing by and get a few.....or half a dozen on our way out of St. Augustine. *sigh* I can't wait!
Once we arrive at the Poly, we plan to drop off our things and head right back out on the road. We're going to Celebration Town Center to see Now Snowing! We're going to have lunch at this cute little spot called Uppercrust Pizza. Who doesn't love pizza? C'mon!
And now, for my favoritest part ever. We'll be doing a lot of driving around, and we both love music, so I decided to make us a few mixed CDs to bring along. ..Okay wait, I fibbed. I've started the tracklists but have yet to actually make the CDs...in fact, I plan to keep adding until the trip finally arrives. Maybe I'll post the tracklists up here when I'm done!
Sheesh, long post. -- Have a great night!
