TOP SECRET WDW Adventure with Mom & the Aunts @ BWI 3/21-3/26 PTR - UPDATED 3/19 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I’m sorry I’ve fallen behind on my PTR everyone. I’ve had a really rough last few weeks…in a nutshell I lost my job (of 13yrs.) & a very dear family member-our 15 year old chocolate lab.
My boss decided he needed his manager to work 45-50 hours a week …not possible for me, I have two kiddos and am NOT the breadwinner of the family. Our darling lab…had a tumor around some of his vertebrae & we were no longer able to keep him comfortable with medication. Needless to say both events have had a significant impact on my day to day life and my family…thank you God I have a Disney trip to work on, for many reasons.
I’m going to practice adding some pics before it’s time for my real TR, I’m not sure how the “re-sizing” thing is going to work, so I’m going to give it a shot. This is our handsome boy, Kaygen…we sure do miss him!
Tuesday 3/23: Disney Hollywood Studios
I LOVE DHS! Really I love Fantasmic & Sunset & the shopping & the hanging plants & my list could go on & on & on. In fact, my SIL & I loved the hanging plants there so much that I took this picture with the intention of duplicating it the following holiday season, we haven’t YET but there’s always next year!
One of the things I love the most about this particular park is that I feel NO pressure at all to get anywhere (except to Fantasmic). I’d love to try & open this park, that’s never happened for me before. On our last trip we never got to ride TSM, FPs were always gone when we got by there, maybe it will happen this time…although honestly, my kids really wanted to ride it so if I don’t do it this time I most certainly will survive. Not to mention…my son has the game for his Wii and I STINK, I mean big time STINK!
Plans so far for this park…need to rule out(or not) TOT & RNRC, I bet that the Aunts won’t want to do either, I know my Mom won’t but we shall see. I’d like to try the animation class that Cindybelle was talking about in her TR as that would be a first for me. We have ADRs at 50’s PTC for 5:30, I think my Mom & Aunts will get a kick out of this dining experience as their childhood was firmly planted in the 50’s. I’d like to see the Block Party @ 3p & definitely Fantasmic that night. We’ll probably do the Movie Ride, Indy, and Beauty & the Beast.
I did love the Prince Caspian movie so if they still have that exhibit open I’d like to stop by & take a peek. I’m completely bummed that Disney ditched the rest of the Narnia movies, I hope FOX does a good job with Voyage of the Dawn Treader, that’s one of my favorite books in the series.
I love the shopping @ DHS. Last visit my DH & kids snuck off and bought me a sketch of my boy Stitch for my bday & I had him framed…isn’t he just a handsome rascal!
I’m wondering what time you all think we need to be seated for Fantasmic? I've read where people line up an hour or more before start time and then some folks have just been able to walk in & find a spot with a few minutes to spare. It’s supposed to show @ 8:30 this night and I think touring plans said it should be a 5 or 6 that day for crowd levels. Please remember, I really value your opinions as I’ve never been during “busy” season and definitely want the Aunts to see this show! Thanks in advance!

Sorry about your job and your dog! If the 8:30 showing is the 2nd showing of the night, it shouldn't be as busy and you have a better chance of not having to wait over an hour for the show!
So sorry to hear about your losses! But a Disney trip to look forward to is certainly good therapy.
I think a Disney trip is the best kind of therapy, thanks!

Thanks for the kind words, if I have all of this extra time now I'll have no excuse for having shabby plans.

Thanks for the advice...I"m not sure if there are two shows that night or not, I'll certainly have to look into that ASAP.

Thank you for the pixies, things could always be worse but having this Disney trip to look forward to is really helpful right now.

MUST dos for the AK include, ITTBAB , FOTLK, Kilimanjaro Safari, & Finding Nemo. I love EE but don’t know if anyone will be interested in riding it with me…I guess I’ll find out, I know my Mom won’t, she’s afraid of heights.
We have dinner reservations at 6:30 for Sanaa. I’m VERY excited about having dinner there; especially after Caldercup gave it such a good review in the Sousefest TR…her opinion was particularly important to me because she needs to eat gluten free just like my Aunt S. I have my eye on the bread service(to share), the Cornish hen, and one of their specialty cocktails…the Painted Lemur. Per the AllEars menu a Painted Lemur is an Amarula Fruit Cream Liqueur and Van der Hum Tangerine Liqueur combined in a Chocolate-striped glass inspired by the distinctive striped tail of the Madagascar lemur. Has anyone tried a Painted Lemur? I believe King Julian & his crew are lemurs...my kids love him so I'll have to try one in their honor.
Now here is what I’m thinking about this day…do I try & cram tea at the GF in here somewhere? I’ve been going back & forth on this one, there may not even be anything available at this point, hmm… I think it would be a nice thing for the four of us to do…but at this rate we’re certainly not going to utilize all of our CS meals…I guess we could use some of them for breakfasts…I haven’t really thought much about breakfasts yet.
After dinner we’ll head back to the Boardwalk and see what is going on there. I’m thinking we should go over to Jellyrolls this night. I’ve heard people say they have had a really wonderful time there and have been told that I should request The Rainbow Connection from the Muppet Movie. That will probably be enough for the day…especially since the next day, our last day, will be spent at the MK!!!!

I tea at the GF! I don't think it would be a good idea on your AK day though, especially since your having dinner at Sanaa at 6:30pm. I'm pretty sure the tea is only from 2-4:30pm and depending on what you get can be pretty filling. I'd tend to do it on a MK or Epcot day since you could take the monorail then.
My DS had a field trip to the circus this morning, he got sick during the circus (stomach virus going around AGAIN in his class) and of course this time I didn’t drive, we rode with another Mom, luckily someone found a bag for us & he held it…just in case on our way back to school. We made it uneventfully back to school & checked my DD out…however, this has certainly thrown a wrench in my “day before” preparations. I'm happy to report that my DS is feeling much better & is currently in bed watching Princess and the Frog...I even heard him singing during Dig A Little Deeper, a VERY good sign!
I had planned on going to the grocery store after the field trip to get DH & kids stocked up on everything, looks like I’ll be going tonight sometime after the 5p.m. rush. I’m not doing bad…still have a bit of a list to tackle but it’s mostly stuff that needs to be done so my family’s week runs as smoothly as possible next week while I’m gone, nothing crucial pertaining to the trip. Pretty weird not packing up everything but the kitchen sink to go to Disney, guess there’s a first time for everything. One of the things on my list…wrap up my PTR, so here goes!
Thursday 3/25 MK
My favorite! We’re going to do our best to see as much of everything as we possibly can. We’ll definitely be seeing Spectro & Wishes…can’t wait! Aunt M has expressed that she wants to ride the teacups…count me out on that one; I can’t even look at the teacups without being ill. I would like us to plan to be there for rope drop, I believe that the MK has a.m. EMHs that day…guess I’d better verify that. We’re going to head right over to Fantasyland and do as much as we can over there.
I think the list of things we won’t be trying to do will be smaller than the ones we’d like to do…we’ll be skipping Indy Speedway, Space Mountain (unless Aunt S surprises me & wants to try it), AstroOrbiter, Stich’s Great Escape, Tiki Room, Treehouse, & Country Bears…we’ll see how much we end up getting done…personally if I get to do HM & POTC I’m good. My Mom & Aunts won’t be bummed about anything we don’t do because they really don’t even have a clue what all is available, possible blessing in disguise?
ADR for CP @ 5:30…not a first for me but I expect Aunt M to enjoy the characters and have heard nice things about the CP from the gluten free folks so Aunt S shouldn’t have any problems.
Weather…well it looks like it’s going to be very nice, at this point. Possible evening thunderstorms on Sunday…not excited about that because the MK has EMH until 2 a.m. , but hey I guess that’s what ponchos are for…seems like every trip I’ve been on I’ve seen a little rain in the MK, I’m not going to borrow trouble. Temps look real nice- highs 70-80 & lows 50-60, I’ll definitely take that!
I’ve decided to not try and squeeze in a GF tea this trip and there are two showings of Fantasmic on our DHS night…we’ll show up a bit before the first show & see if we can get a seat, if not…we’ll wait in whatever line we need to for the 10p.m. show.
Time to take care of some more things on the list…thanks everyone for reading & the great advice, I’ll “see” y’all when I get back!
