Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

Class of 1979 -- hey there, all you other '79er's (or 39+er's, if we go by age)!

Bishop Moore High School, Orlando, FL. Our colors were black & gold and we were the Fighting Hornets (we were stinging bugs -- that'll put fear in your heart! ).

And yes, most of us were CM's at one time or another.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

I graduated from Easton High School in 1997. Our colors were red and black and the mascot was the Red Rover. (Terrifying, a cute little wrinkly dog, right? ) Ou rival school was Phillipsburg High (NJ) and their mascot was some sort of cat. Dogs vs. cats, no surprise there right?

Was anybody else involved in school politics or clubs?

I was the president of, you guessed it, the Environmental Club, S.A.V.E. - Students Against Violating the Earth. And because of that I was on President's Council - the Senior Class' governing body. I was also in choir, Art Honor Society, Drama Club, S.A.D.D., and Multicultural Club.

I just checked my yearbook and found a few more clubs that I was in and forgot about - Amnesty International, Youthink (an art magazine), and an improv group through Peer Assistance (I can't remember what the group is called though ).

So what did you do in high school?

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

I graduated from Addison Trail High School in 1988. Our colors were navy blue, white, and gold. We were the Blazers (trail blazers). But, our mascot was Bucky Blazer a fireball with stick arms and legs. Ohhh Scary!

Our fight song (eh-hem)! Raise our banner, navy blue and white, always high. We can do it! We can win the fight. Victory! We can beat em. Don't you worry now. We can beat em with ease. Blast ahead with each game. Everyone knows our name. AT Blazers GOOOOOOO! (I always wanted to be a cheerleader )

As for extra activites, I was in the Art Club and FBLA. I also helped my friend on the yearbook.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

DH and I were in the Mill River Union High School class of 1992. We were the Minutemen or Minutemaids . Our school colors were red, white and blue. Our ten year reunion should be this year, but no word about it yet.

DH was sweeper on the soccer team and center on the basketball team. I was his most adoring fan. I helped keep stats and ran the time clock.

I am not of the athletic sort. I was editor of the yearbook, a member of the Key Club, Mathcounts, SADD and was in one play. I was also my school's Pumpkin Princess (kinda like homecoming Queen except it's decided by a panel of judges and an interview session and you compete against the other schools in the area for the title of Pumpkin Queen and then you get the lead the Halloween Parade).

Oh, and DH and I were voted class couple.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

I graduated from Cardinal Cushing Central High School for Girls in South Boston, MA in 1989. 13 years ago May 27 to be exact. I didn't live in Southie, I lived in Somerville and commuted everyday.

The basketball team was the Cushing Celtics (pronounced Keltics) and our school colors were maroon and gold.

I was in the student writers, peer leaders and drama!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

I graduated from Elmwood Park High, class of 1975. Our school colors were red and white and we were the Crusaders. I was in the National Honor Society, and on the newspaper staff and the yearbook staff.

Hubby graduated from Parsippany Hills High School in 1978 and they were the Vikings. Don't know his school colors. I know he was in the band.

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

"Class of 1980" from Rantoul Township High in Illinois. Purple and Gold were our colors and we were the "Eagles". I dated a football player too, not all that is cracked up to be...anywho, I was on the girl's track team and did not even know I could run until I got the school record in the mile run in my first trackmeet! WOW, what a suprise to me! It was hard work but a lot of fun. Let see, I liked all of the business type classes, especially shorthand. Boy, I really sound old saying the word "shorthand". I wasn't a "nerd" and I wasn't a "snoody", popular type. I was kinda in the middle there, I guess.

My daughter just had her "get acquainted" night at the same high school! Wow, I can't believe my baby will be going to the same high school. She is much more smarter than moma!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

Boy..This one really brings it back!!
I graduated in 1955 (the year DL opened)..from Robbinsdale HS..with the fitting mascot of the ROBIN!!!
Didn't inspire much fear it opponents hearts, however!!!
Our school colors were royal blue and gold..
(but I suppose brown and orange would have been more appropriate!)
"There's a yell from the students and teachers as our team goes marching by..
There's a cheer from the stands and the bleachers as they play to do or die!
At the half you can tell why the gang came..
They're the team that can not fail!
For the winner of this ballgame is good old ROBBINSDALE!!!!"

Ah..yes..I can remember this..but not where I put my car keys!!!

Re: Silly Question of the Day 5/22/02

Too funny, Beth.

Let's see... Class of 1977, Austin High School,
Colors were Orange and Black and we were/are the Black Bears.

Never been accused of being athletic or graceful, I was more the studious type... wrote for the student paper, wrote the Senior Motto, Honor Societies, FBLA (won 3rd place in state shorthand competition), Tri Hi Y (sp?), Spanish Club -- I was a real egghead!

And didn't that shorthand talent come in real handy -- NOT!
