Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I am really eager to see what happens also!

THe reaction fo the young mother, I thought, was insensitive if she stopped and thought about the context of what Bo was doing. Still, we have to be careful when it comes to kids, especially ones we don't know! I think that scene addressed a tough issue.

My pastor mentioned in his sermon this morning that you should hug a kid at least once a day. Well, I work with kids all day and I love each and every one, but a hug is just not really a good idea! I wanted to raise my hand and suggest hugging a cat or dog in if you don't have an appropriate kid to hug! That works every time for me!

I noticed that also. I liked on page 28 when Kim sits up straighter and thinks "Right here, right now, she can pick a new path for her life". Or page 31 when the healing power of time is mentioned.

Those thoughts stuck out in my mind because, in a similar way to Just Breathe, there is a momentum to move right on with life and create something new out of the wreckage. I love that attitude.

It reminded me of one of the buildings at Disney with lots of colors. I can't remember which, but it is near a pretty garden.

It's funny how a different point of view causes you to look at something in a new way. The "strike three" line flew right past me. And when I went back to find it, I had to re-read strikes one and two to put it all in perspective for me.

In the end, I'm not sure I viewed this statement as meeting his son was the third strike. I think Bo is wrestling with all the changes he is facing and attitude adjustments he will have to make. "Strike one - not every woman will fall at my feet. Strike two - 'no good deed goes unpunished'. Strike three - lost little boy who doesn't know me from Adam, not good!"

I don't know. Maybe I look at from a more PollyAnna point of view wanting to believe the best is yet to come, but I sure do like being given a different way to look at it all. Makes me see things from a different perspective!!

Now that is hilarious! While reading that section, I'm like, she must be crazy! Now I don't mind a little color, but it sure sounds like the neighbors would hate it!

Do I feel driven to read and why?
Bo definitely sounds like a player. But he seems to have heart -- he did try to help the strangers (Kim and Taylor Jane) at the airport. It will be interesting to see who he is inside. He sounds fearful of a son he doesn't even know, who has dropped unexpectedly into his life. What is the past with AJ's mother? What would cause him to not be a part of his son's life? .

And then there's Kim's mom. I was put off at first when Kim called for a ride and her mother basically said - but I'm busy. (cleaning up after breakfast). I'm like, yeah so. If my Dgang needed me, I'd be there. It took me back to my favorite poem that I turned into a little lullaby for my Dgang when they were young. I would rock them and sing:
"cleaning and scrubbing can wait til tomorrow
cause babies grow up I've learned to my sorrow
so quite down cobwebs and dust go to sleep
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."

I wonder if it is just the way their family is or if there was some kind of rift between the two that they could not overcome.

But it made me sad, because it reminded me that my mom is gone and I cannot go home. So I envy Kim -- no matter what their relationship -- her mom is still there to come home to.

Life experience definitely alters the way we view life and when reading our interpretation of the book. You may think you've dealt with an issue and then you're just reading along and bam it hits you.

"I wish we'd had time to forgive one another, Dad, she thought" - I literally gasped. My dad has been gone for 14 years and obviously I still have some work to do with that loss. And it looks like Kim and her mom have some work to do as well.

I liked the opening. Two different stories lines, not crossing but obviously related . . . but how?

The book seemed to remind me of the movie "For Love of the Game". I have heard that movie described as a chick flick baseball movie.

I very much want to keep reading . . . and I have.

I agree that today's society has caused the reaction after Bo stopped the young girl . . . but here was a momo asking for help and then when somebody did help she becomes indignant becasue it was a guy who stopped her child for her. Would she have reacted the same way if a lady had helped her out?

Kim's reactions were based on the events that seemed to unfold the night before but I am not sure that they would have ben different even without what we know about the night before. Bo was not dressed like the people in her life and any actions by him would probably have been greeted with the same reactions.

I wasn't at the sermon but he probably meant hug a child at least once a day if you are in a position to be that emotionally close to them. No I would not suggest you hug every child that you cross paths with and I doubt that is what your pastor had in mind.

On page 20 the book reads "Bo felt himself tense up, and all his senses sprang to awareness with the kind of hyper vigilance he felt when he pitched in a ball game."

It is just like when Billy Chapel, in For Love of the Game, would say "clear the mechanism", that was his way of putting himself in the "zone".

I can attest that this is a strange feeling but during a game when I am coaching, I often hear the people in the other dugout moving things and look to see what is happening. At the same time, I sometimes don't hear my children run in and yell for me when they arrive at the park late. And Sandy can attest to the fact that my children are always the peak of my everything.

I didn't have a chance to read Just Breathe so this is my first experience with Susan Wiggs. You are plugging along with life in the book and bam! A simple phrase or sentence just takes you to another place and time. DH is a history buff and so he calls this type of book, fluff. And then he'll look over and see me laughing or a tear and he'll .

I found it very interesting when I found the reason for Bo finally meeting his son. I live in a border town, and unfortunately what they portrayed is an all-too-common reality-that a parent is detained for possible INS violations, while the innocent child has to find a home. Also, from personnal experience, I had to laugh at AJ's reactions to the cold and lack of clothing-preparedness.

Oh, and on a completely different subject, did anyone else notice that Kim got up the next morning and put on a pair of Crocs. I had to laugh when I read that.
