Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Our pets didn't make either list BUT we do have some nicknames for them that are quite appropriate...

Our cat is Dar (named for the movie "The Beastmaster.") When DD Cory was younger, she told people it was because when he was good, he was our 'DARling' - but when he was bad, he was 'That DARned Cat.'

And with our dog Duncan, we figured out if you say his name backwards (Nacnud), it fits his personality better.

Working in a vet clinic, I pretty much guessed what names were top on the lists. Although I'm surprised that Max was #1 on both list since we see more Bailey's and more Tigger's.

Each of the cats have nicknames, too:
King Morpheus the Rotund = MoMo (like MuMu because he should wear one due to his girth)
Cosmo the Emergency Back-up Cat = Mo (because he's half the size of MoMo)
Phoenix v2.0, The Interloper = Pretty Girl, Princess, or Phe-Phe (just because she'll answer to nearly anything)

All three are black cats. MoMo and Mo each have a bit of white. Phoenix is coal black - even her foot pads.

MoMo and Mo are brothers from the same litter that we rescued from being separated and adopted out to different families. The lady who couldn't keep them due to her cat obsession and their litter box issues had named them "Bibs" and "Boots" due to their white markings. I think she was just running low on names because of all the cats she had in her basement. (And, yes, after speaking to our vet, we did direct the proper authorities to check in on her and her kids due to concerns about their health and the health of their many cats.)

I am the cat-lover in our house, but each of the cats has a preference for a different person. MoMo was the first to develop a preference, so he got named first and is first fiddle among the kitties. Hence the "king" part. His name, Morpheus, came from the character in the movie The Matrix. When we first got MoMo and Mo, MoMo hid in the house for days - only coming out for a cuddle in the middle of the night with me when Walt was asleep or in another room. So because Morpheus was an elusive character to Neo in The Matrix before they met, we name him Morpheus. Then, a few years ago, he started putting on weight. He is magnetically attracted to the food dish like there's a black hole under it. He weighs about 25 pounds by now, I'd guess. Hence the Rotund.

Cosmo is named after a character in the movie PCU. One of the hippies. It was a movie Walt and I loved at the time and we nearly named MoMo Mersh after the other hippie in the movie. (Mersh was played by Gary Busey's son, Jake Busey.) He's the Emergency Back-up Cat because I name the cats and he doesn't like me. So he's MoMo's understudy. He prefers Walt and Walt's nasty hippie blanket. (This fringe-y beach blanket that's a knock-off of a mexican or guatamalen blanket or something.)

Phoenix is a kitten we adopted while on vacation two summers ago at Knoebels. We found her living under our vacation home there and a couple of maintenance guys helped us catch her and board her through the end of the week so she could get cleaned up, get her shots, etc. before we introduced her to the boys at home. Anyway, Knoebels is world famous for being the first to resurrect a rollercoaster from its previous home and obscurity. So they named the coaster The Phoenix. Since our kitten was getting a second chance at happiness, we named her Phoenix, too. v2.0 because we couldn't call her Jr. since she's a girl living in modern times. She got tagged as "The Interloper" after she got over her respiratory issues a few weeks after we brought her home and introduced her to the boy kitties who still haven't warmed up to her. MoMo stopped snuggling me for weeks after we let Phoenix out of the spare room the first time.

The unusual ones had me lol'ing. None of my cats names made the list. Mine are Callie 11, Basia 10 (may she r.i.p I just had her euthanized Sunday night), and Alfy 9. I call Alfy Alfred E. Newman when I'm mad at him.

Our pet names are not that exciting:

Fortissimo the cat. Everything he does is loud. Very loud. I got him my 4th year of college while I was majoring in music ed and performance. He had to have a musical name and Fortissimo means very loud do the name fit him. When Fortissimo was younger he had a bit of a tummy going, so I would call him Fortiss-a-the-Pooh-Bear.

Tigger the dog used the cat's litter box, ate the cat food, and bounced like a Tigger, so she is Tigger. Even at 15 she is a happy, bouncy Tigger puppy.

Caesar Augustus was a feral kitten we adopted though our friend's vet. DH said no Disney names, so he named the kitten Caesar Augustus. We call him GusGus, which DH didn't know was a Disney name until we were waiting to eat breakfast in Cinderella's Castle and I saw GusGus the mouse on the ledge. Everyone in our family knew who GusGus was except DH. Caesar also comes to Little Buddy.

The baby is Jack. Short for Jack ***. Or Jack the Pirate Puppy, or a few other names I cannot say on a family board. Let's just say that sometimes Jack is very lucky he is so cute.
