As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh boy! Another trip report. And, to another country I haven't "visited" with you before. I so enjoy your trip reports because it's almost like being there with all the detail and especially the pictures. BTW, really like your sig pic. You do look relaxed!

Wonderful aerial photos- I saw a special a year or two ago on the aquarium in Valencia- how they opened it and transferred and acquired specimens for it. When I saw your pics, I thought to myself- I have seen that place before!
Glad to hear about Easyjet- I've often wondered how that airline is in comparison to the others.

We were very quickly off the plane and through customs, with only a cursory glance at our passports, and then it was time to wait for the suitcase to come off. That took a while, but eventually we saw it turn up and we were off. A quick exchange of text messages on the cell phone and we soon found Mark’s parents, who’d just arrived.
We head back to the car park, almost as soon as they’d parked up and they ended up with a bargain basement price of just 10 cents!
We set out on the way back to their villa near Moraira and, after taking a wrong turn and a fun diversion, we were on our way properly. It probably took about an hour and a half to get there and the views on the way were lovely. I somehow wasn’t expecting it to be so green out here, knowing how hot and dry it is during the summer.

Soon we were at our destination, although I’m not sure I could ever remember how to get there again. I think you need a degree to find your way there! It’s a beautiful place, as you can see:

I should say here that when they bought the place, it came fully furnished. Bearing that in mind, isn’t it lovely? I just love the choice of colours of the previous owners – very Mediterranean in style and just perfect for where the villa is.
We weren’t in for long, before setting out for an exploration of the area. We headed down into the centre of Moraira, which is about four kilometres away (they do everything in kilometres, as opposed to miles in Europe). It’s a bigger town than I was expecting, as when I went online to find car hire, there were no outlets there, so I just assumed it was a pretty small place. Not one bit of it. The marina was lovely.
First we stopped at a cove in between the villa and Moraira itself:
Then we headed a bit further up the coast to one of the more exclusive resorts, El Portet, about a mile from Moraira. This is packed with homes that sell for more than million Euros. You could easily see why they were so much, as the views they had were absolutely stunning.
By now, we were all starting to get hungry, so we headed off for some food and ended up at a place called the Wok, which has several outlets in the area. It didn’t look open, as the place was in darkness and there were no cars in the car park, but upon checking it out, it turned out it was open and we had a very nice meal there. There was a huge selection of meat, fish and vegetables that you could get cooked at a Teppan style grill, along with your standard battered items and some lovely desserts. The bill came to about 50 Euros for the four of us (about £40). Full, we headed back into Moraira to take a walk around the town.
We were fascinated by all the artwork on roundabouts over here – some of it was pretty elaborate:

Then it was back to the villa for some sunbathing and a dip in the pool. The only problem was the sun must’ve seen us coming, as it hid behind the clouds for ages! Fortunately, it did eventually come out for long enough for us to enjoy.
By the time the sun started to go down, it started to get colder. Our plans to head into the town for dinner just didn’t work out, as the time seemed to go by so quickly and, before we knew it, it was quite late and we still weren’t that hungry, so we ended up with a salad and some meat for the others and cheese and tuna for me and that was us set for the evening.
We made it through until about 9pm and then it was off to bed. Not too bad, considering we’d been up since early that morning.
Today we walked 2.86 miles. The weather today was sunny and in high 80’s. The best thing today was sitting and enjoying the sun. The worst thing today was having to get up so early. Today we tried exploring Moraira And the result was it’s a beautiful town and bigger than I thought. The most magical moment today was seeing Mark’s parents’ villa for the first time.
Great start! With all the rumors of the Magic going back to the Med next year and perhaps the Baltic, I am very interested in hearing about Spain. Your TRs never fail to amaze and entertain! Keep it coming.
