Feelin’ Groovy: A Cam and Luke TR Completed 7/31 - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The macaw experience we have always missed...to see your pics & read your comments gave me chills. Thank you for sharing your TR & such detailed experiences with all of us. Just one more thing for the WDW bucket list.
The macaw flight was so cool! Not sure I could've kept myself from ducking though.
That's a lot of walking - especially with someone still recovering from surgery!
Thanks for early heads up. Wasn't expecting to get mooned by Okapi's first thing this mourning. Boathouse sounds like might be worth a try even though Luke looked just so HAPPY
What a great day! Love the shots of the Macaws. Being a former parrot owner myself, I love birds. I know many people are afraid of them but I just love them
Dinner at The Boathouse looked delicious! Loved the photopass pictures of you guys at Disney Springs!
No purchase at The Ganachery?! !
It all sounds good though - I may need to try those filet sliders!
I think that picture is at DTD (Springs) somewhere. I think it's in the newer section though - not sure exactly where.
Sorry the gorillas didn't give you a great show this time, but you still got some good shots. I've caught the Macaw show a couple of times since Laurie mentioned it in her final trip report. It always makes me think of her. I love the Disney shopping bags. That's one of my favorite souvenirs. I've got 4 or 5 of them and use them in my grocery trips. They always make me smile when I pull them out.
Seemed like a good time in the AK and especially with the appearance of the Macaws! That was quite something. One thing you forgot to mention is whether you enjoyed your dinner at The Boathouse as you said what you and Luke had but not whether you liked it or not!
Give us a nice concise review of your meal as I'm considering The Boathouse for October!
Sorry, I thought I had done that and even included photos. I did say we'd be back, which I meant to imply that we'd enjoy our dinners. We didn't eat any seafood so I can't speak to that.

Is that mystery plaque kind of near The Ganachery?
Loved the okapi butt--if I had a striped bum, I'd flaunt it, too!
The Ganachery wasn't too far away, but it was actually closer to other places.
I love love love the photo of the rubber duck at The Boathouse (what a great shot to capture the essence of the atmosphere!)
Alright, let's discuss shopping. Granted, I haven't really been shopping at Disney Springs in a good while (with parking being a bit of a mess and the general construction, we've avoided it) but since you have, and you did some Vera Bradley shopping, allow me to pick your brain for a moment. Our anniversary was today and we went to Epcot and I wanted to purchase a new Vera Bradley backpack as my anniversary gift. Mousegears just had nothing...I mean, a couple of large totes and cross bodies but that's it. Did you find a decent selection at WWOD? I'm taking the kids to MK on Wednesday for a couple of hours and will definitely look there but I'm thinking of bopping over to Disney Springs if it sounds like they had a good selection when you were there. Funny, I also took a look at the Pandora bangle at Mousegears and they also had very limited size selections- both items I had my eye on were way picked through! It made me think of you today though since that was another item you shopped for in your TR (and you know, I love the shopping parts!)
Mel
There was a decent selection of Vera Bradley at WoD, but I think there might have been more at the Marketplace Co-op. The Vera Bradley is in the back of the Co-op.

Our PP photographer gave us excellent directions on the macaws, and then once they landed I just moved right up to the stand. I'll have better luck on Pangani on future days, too.

I had intended for us to see it, but then as Luke got tired, I had put it aside for another day. But our timing was perfect this day.
I guess the animals on the Pangani trail were feeling groovy too. The picture of the gorilla sitting on the bucket was pretty funny.
Looks like a nice dinner at the Boathouse. As I'm not a seafood fan, the Boathouse has not really been on my radar but I would have enjoyed what you had.
Too funny about everyone squeezing the bags that the Lego mini figures came in. Glad it's not just me! I found a small display at my local Walmart (maybe a dozen bags) and I spent time squeezing the bags before I selected 3. I got Buzz, Stitch and Ursula but honestly, I can't say that the bags felt much different from one another.
The animals on the trail were definitely mellow this particular day. Those filet mignon sliders were so good that I wish I could have some around here. It really was funny, and one very tall dude was trying to coach us all on what to feel for.
