As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I don't think a Fastpass for the parade is a waste at all. It makes complete sense. Can you get a Fastpass for the second showing of Fantasmic? Not you, I mean would I be able to? Trying to figure out some plans. I am glad you will be able to get another MK day!
I like your revised plans for this day. I don't consider a parade FP+ a waste at all. In fact, if I'm going to make the parade again in the future that maybe my only way to do it. We don't like staking out a spot that early either, so we end up missing the parade.

In my notes, at day 60 when I could make FP+, I noted that I got the following message when I clicked on Fantasmic! "Sorry, all FP+ have been allocated for this attraction for this day". The message was in red about the Fantasmic spot and the box was grey in to show you couldn't choose it....so, I haven't been able to even book a FP+ for the first show. I don't know if it's a glitch, or if it just isn't going to be shown during my trip? It was on a rotating night schedule on our 2010 trip, and in 2012 it wasn't an option because the FP's were completely gone that morning.

I didn't mind staking a spot out for the MSEP the two times we saw it simply because we were "done" riding everything. In 2010, we were able to find a spot about 20 minutes before the parade began and had an awesome location - right across from the Veranda where Tiana and Naveen have their meet & Greet. There was a quick serve right by us with a few tables where we sat while we waited. It was very different in 2012 though - we were at the hub right by the bridge to Tomorrowland about an hour before the parade began...it was hot, but we gutted it out, only to have a family with three strollers shove in front of us about 10 minutes before the parade began. Brian swears "never again" for that parade because of that experience.

FP+ for parades, especially the afternoon one, is not a waste at all. I may consider doing that next year as I haven't seen Festival of Fantasy Parade yet. Because waiting an hour, in the sun, doesn't sound like fun at all.

It doesn't sound fun at all to me either. I'll let you know how it goes

Well....we're now at 39 days until check in at the Poly!!!!! I finished up my final day of work until August 10th and celebrated by....test driving three cars.....with the three boys in tow.
Back to the Good Stuff:
We've started our trip countdown with the boys (who still are convinced the trip is happening NEXT summer so we're letting them think that). Last night, I swiped an idea from Kelly (OhToodles) and created "dinner with a movie"
The invitation read:
Mom and Dad have an "Incredible" meal planned:
"Spy Rolls" (pizza dough rolled around various pizza toppings)
Jack Jack's Hot Sauce (pizza dipping sauce)
Violet's Stretched fruit (fruit leathers)
Frozone's Juice (shaved ice with OJ mixed in to make it like "ice cream")
While we ate dinner, we watched The Incredibles.
Back to the PTR:
July 21st is going to be a completely new experience for me as a mom, for Brian and the boys. We're hitting the water parks. We are going to purchase a single day ticket which allows us to now hop between Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach. I was at TL the year it opened with my parents, but Brian has NEVER experienced a Disney water park. We've taken the boys to Kalihari and Great Wolf Lodge, but never to a large outdoor park. We plan to be at TL at opening so Brian, Nolan and Patrick can do the snorkle with the sharks. I'd heard rumors that this attraction was closing, but as of today it's still listed as a functioning thing, so on to the list it goes. After we explore for a bit, we'll head to Blizzard Beach.
As for the evening? I honestly doubt we'll "close the park" down. We may or may not use the evening to stroll through Downtown Disney (while I try valiently to steer the boys AWAY from the Lego store ), we may hang back at AoA and watch the movie offering there, or it may just need to be an early night after a day of fun in the sun.
Up Next: DHS

I'm in camp "YES" regarding FP+ for parades. DS and I did this last year and it is the only way we would have seen the parade. I'm fine waiting forever, but because we were just the 2 of us, it wasn't an option. My son would not sit that long, no way.
Interested in how BB/TL goes for you. I haven't done a WP with DS yet.

I love your dinner and a movie fun. Caden asked if we were going to do that again. I said we have quite a bit of time before we need to think about that. Your water park day sounds so fun! We have yet to do a Disney water park. We have yet to do any kind of water park at all actually.
Your water park day sounds really fun!! We used to do the snorkel with the Sharks at TL when the kids were younger. Everyone loved it!!. Once again, that is the night we will be at the BOATHOUSE! If you go the DD route, you guys should stop by!!
