Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I just checked the park hours for my trip and they have been extended most days.
Yippee! Evan better is Disney has added a second showing of Fantasmic and MSEP as I had hoped.

Right now the AK parade is still listed so maybe the June closing date has not been confirmed.

Only thing missing is when the Lion King show will reopen and what those show times will be.

Now I'm trying to figure out the best day/time to try for the Anna and Elsa FP+. Since I can't book them until 30 days out I hope I'm able to still get soemthing and that they are not all gone.

Lastly - waiting to see the Mine Train offically opening - it is gonna be so cool!!!

Really I know 4 months will fly by. We are so busy right now I know that the end of school will be here in a blink and then it is just 6 more weeks from there.

PRT Part 19 Day 13 Plans

Plans for Friday, August 29th (day 13)

My original plan for today was to head over to the Poly and Captain Cook’s for some breakfast of Tonga Toast. Right now, CC is under renovations and scheduled to open in the summer. Hopefully, it will be reopened in time for our visit. If not we may just find the temporary spot or just eat back in the room. We are getting groceries delivered at the beginning of the trip so not sure by this late into the vacation what we may still have left.

My intentions are to arrive at MK during rope drop and hopefully catch a ride around the park on the train then meet Mickey – all of this will depend on how many (if any) of these things we have already done.

At 9:45 we need to be back at Main Street because we are taking the Family Fun Tour. This is once again a surprise for the boys, and my mom at least at this point. She will learn about it when we actually go over all our activities.

We have never done this tour so I’m hoping the boys will like and it will be fun. Both my Mom and I have taken the behind the scenes tours at the MK but nothing involving the kids.

If the Disney magic is in high gear we will be able to end the tour and catch a viewing of Mickey’s PhilharMagic then we are heading out of the MK and over to Fort Wilderness.

I have stayed at Fort Wilderness many times. There is just something about it we like. It is sort of “our” resort. I think because the cabins are the least expensive units on property with full kitchens. Growing up, our family had 6 and you can get 6 into one cabin, so we have stayed here about 5 or 6 times. On our last trip we went to the Hoop Dee Do and the campfire program but never really did anything else in Fort Wilderness. My very first thought was to spend an entire day here, rent a golf cart and bikes and a canoe and try the archery lesson and then go the Backyard BBQ. But the more I read about the BBQ the less I wanted to go to it. It was just getting too many negative reviews. What I decided is that an entire day at Fort Wilderness will need to be shelved until another visit – along with the helicopter ride I was thinking about doing. See I haven’t even taken this trip and already have a list started for our next trip. It never ends.

What we will be doing over at FW is having lunch at Trails End and renting the speed boats at the marina and going to the petting farm and the stables and planning a pony ride too. We will look for the lawn mower tree and perhaps walk one of the trails next to the lake. Maybe even see the defunct Water Country.

After our explorations at the Fort it will be either back to Shades for the usual down time or a trip to Typhoon Lagoon. The water parks close by 7pm this week so we might just do our swim time at TL rather than at Shades.

Tonight’s dinner is open – I have a few idea of places but we will just see how the mood hits us.
Thinking of: room service, Beaches and Cream, Via Napoli, Olivia’s, Boatwright’s or the food court at PORS.

Whatever we decide for dinner we are heading over to Port Orleans Riverside afterward because I have a carriage ride scheduled. I’m hoping it isn’t too blasted hot. We took a horse drawn carriage ride last fall in Cape May, NJ. It was cool but not cold and we snuggled under the blanket. Evan really loved the ride and asked the driver lots of questions. I’ve also taken the tours in Philly but I think this may be something completely new to Eric and really the sort of thing we only do on vacation as something special.

After our ride we are going to go see YeHaa Bob. I have seen his name spelled all different ways so not sure his official spelling but I think his website lists it as YeHaa Bob. I have never seen his show and hear it is a lot of fun. I first read about him in Celebrations magazine and have now seen more articles and TR. The boys are pretty outgoing so I think the audience participation stuff they will enjoy.

After a little while of watching his show I’d like to pop over and see if they (PORS) have their campfire program running or the movie by the pool and spend a little time doing that. Was thinking of ending the night at POFQ food court and beignets.

Today will be a lot of bouncing around but also hopefully a little slower pace. Who knows we may be so exhausted we just crash tonight and not get anything done.

Just in case you are counting this will be our 4th and 5th resort visits this trip. AKL, AOA, WL, now FW and PORS – not counting the Poly which I’m sure we will explore a little here and there as Shade guests can walk over and use the monorail.

Firsts:
Evan – Captain Cooks, Family tour, Fort Wilderness activities, Trails End, PORS activities, YeHaa Bob
Me – Same as Evan, other than FW
Mom – Same as Me
Eric – Same as Evan plus a carriage ride

Coming up next day 14

I got tired just reading the plans for this day! I don't know if it will be as relaxing as you think... Poly, MK, FW, TL, POR? FIVE PLACES! That's a lot of traveling! And with the tour, FW activities, and carriage ride and show, it sounds like all these places will be pretty packed!

That's a pretty packed day! Should be possible since you have a car, but I'm guessing you'll all fall into bed when you get back to the room. Hard to pick anything you'd want to leave out, though. It's all great stuff!

Sounds like a full day! I vote for dinner at Boatrights seeing that you want to be at POR anyway - or even the food court - then you can get your beneighs for the carriage ride
