Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 19 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

well I rememeber you saying that Hope is tall for her age, right? Sam is tall, at age 2, he was the height of an average 3 year old, so we get that alot with asking if he is 3, but then he talks or does stuff that definately prove he is only 2! As for the clothes, Hope may get to wear it again. I have stuff from last summer that still fit Sam this summer, well mostly the shorts because he is thin and most of them required a belt last year, shirts on the other hand didn't get reused becuase of his height, they were too short, barely hit his waist! I am really hoping that his short sleeve shirts still fit him at the end of Nov, he just keeps sprouting taller and taller. He is 2 years 5 months, was still wearing some 24 month and even 18 month shorts, but 2T shirts for length. Now with fall/winter, its 2T pants for length and 3T shirts because he has long arms.
Definately try to get into Cape May Cafe, that is one of our fave breakfasts!

I agree with everyone else - Hope doesn't look 3 at all!
And Teresa - Sam & Dylan sound like their built a lot alike. Dylan still fits in his 18 month shorts (but we've learned the pants in taht size are too short for his long legs) and he'll be 3 in 3 weeks!!!
ONE MORE WEEK!!! This time next week you'll be in Disney!!!!!!

Hope is 32" long so I think that's where people think she looks like she's 3. I don't know??? Tall means older I guess. I bought Hope pants for the fall in a 24 month size because I think the 18 months will be too long, but in shorts it's not a problem. The 24 months just look so long!!! Right now she'd be walking on them, but I didn't want to buy them too small and her not get much wear out of them. It can definitely get really aggravating when you're trying to shop for them.
So yes, I will be in Disney in One More Week!!! I am beyond excited, and so far the weather looks awesome!!! So for all of those tropical storms brewing out there...don't even think about it!
Last night I was able to get a little packing done. Well, it wasn't really packing, it was more like gathering stuff to put on the side that will go in the suitcase eventually. I even went as far as bringing the suitcase down from the attic. The great thing about going with my mom, is that we can split the items that we bring if we use the same stuff. I bring the shaving cream, she brings the soap...you get the idea. That way we both pack less but still have what we need = perfection!
I put all of the clothes we are wearing to the side, but still hanging in the closet to avoid those dreaded wrinkles. No way am I ironing on this trip ...not enough time, and vacation does not include an ironing board. I'm hoping that I will see a photopass photographer outside of the Beach Club on our first night so Hope & I can get a picture together...just the two of us. So just in case I packed a sundress for me and cute short set for her, with sweaters in case it gets a little chilly at DTD. I already have my photopass registered, so we are ready, set, go with that.
For some reason I don't feel like I have a lot to do this time. Maybe it's because we're not going for very long or maybe it's because Chad's staying behind, either way I just feel very relaxed about the whole packing process. I only have Saturday to get things done around the house because we have a huge Raven's tailgating party to go to on Sunday for the company Chad works for. If it doesn't get done on Saturday it's not getting done until I get back.
Also, a little sad/scary side note. Here in Baltimore today we had our own little version of the Grey's Anatomy season finale. For those who didn't watch it, there was a shooter in the hospital...very intense! Well, the same thing happened at Johns Hopkins today, and a doctor was shot. We just heard that he will be okay, and that they've subdued the gunman, but the floor that it happened on was the same floor that I recovered on for my second brain surgery. They haven't released the doctor's name, but it hit a little close to home for Chad and I. Thank God Chad wasn't there getting his infusion today or I would have been having a nervous breakdown at work!!! Prayers for the doctor and his family!
Quick Update on Johns Hopkins: This was what was originally posted on the news:The gunman shot the doctor while he was in surgery because he was apparently unhappy with how they were treating his mother. The police finally shot & killed the gunman, and the doctor is in surgery for his abdominal wound.
Now the news is saying this:The gunman was being briefed by the doctor outside of his mom's room, became distraught by what he was being told, and pulled out the gun and shot the doctor. Then the gunman went into his mother's room, locked the door, shot her and then himself.
Sometimes they don't report it right the first or second time. Geesh!

You were one of the first people that popped in my head when I heard about the shooter @ JH. I found out about it pretty early on as I have a friend whose daughter had surgery there yesterday & she called family members and told them she was under lockdown due to what had happened. I turned on CNN to find out more. Very scary & sad. I, too, thought of the GA episode. Thank God it wasn't any worse than it was.
On to a much brighter subject......you are getting so close now.....you can actually say "this time next week...." You are so lucky to be going to WDW for a girls only trip!!!! I so wish my Mom (& Dad) would go with us someday. Have fun packing!!!
I had gone on delawareonline a little while ago and got the 3rd story about the gunman killing himself and a relative. Its a shame that he had to shoot the doctor and kill a relative, because he has issues.
Height does make people think older, but I would think for Hope maybe 2 year old, but not 3! Oh well, some people are clueless! Sam is a tall string bean, I bought 2T pants for fall/winter, washed them and put them on to find that they seem to just be long enough, ahhh! That means I have to go buy more because you know after a while you won't be able to find long pants or any sizes, so now I am stocking up on 3T too! Toddler clothes shopping is frustrating!
You are almost there, I love when the packing can actually start! Do you roll things in the suitcase to prevent wrinkles or do you just fold?

I am gathering things in a basket in my closet...eventually they will be thrown into the suitcase and then I will rearrange LOL
So glad things are coming along
OMG about the shooter! that is so sad and disturbing all at the same time! There's multiple versions of the story....I wonder which one is right??
