Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I can not believe your mom bought into DVC without even looking at the models first! Then again, she's been to Disney often enough to know what she's getting into.
Now Sharon, you absolutely broke my heart when you said you walked right by the chocolate creme brulee without so much as a glance back. Now I'll just have to eat an extra one when I go to make up for your deficiency! Thanks alot Sharon!

Most definitely more trips! If they don't invite me, I'll just show up with my suitcase and big puppy dog eyes. A sleeper sofa at Disney is miles above "Loserville."

You know, I always lose weight when I go to WDW. This trip may be an exception to that rule.
Even after 4 "laps" around WS, there were still things we wanted to try but couldn't. And we shared (at least one bite each) everything. But I think going back for favorites hurt us.

Don't cry too much. The chocolate creme brulee will be making an appearance soon.

Now you see, we don't really disagree here. I did say that I was too lazy to make the walk from the YC/BC. From where we were at BCV, I'd guess that would add at least another 7 or 8 minutes, taking the walk from pleasant to a bit of a chore. (And yeah, the weather was waaaay better )

That cream puff literally made me get up and retrieve some chocolate something or other fromt the kitchen that didn't even come close to tasting as good as that cream puff looked! None the less, I ate the whole thing anyway.

What a great morning! Congrats to Mabel on the DVC purchase!

That food looks absolutely amazing - - one of these days, I'm going to F&WF without children - - the two just don't mix!

The best way to do F&WF is with adults. Especially adults willing to try a lot of the offerings!

Day Two, Part Two
It Isn’t a Disney Trip Until I Get Carded

Mable’s Sweet Tip: Beverages do not count as sweets.

Back at the room, I got a better photo of the apple Keri sent (DM did let me have some of it )

I also loved the chair (yes, the chair) so I took a photo of it.

We spent a little time on the balcony. Mom called my Dad and told him the news. How did Dad take the news? Well, being home alone with nothing to do, he started planning the next Disney trip. He was slightly happy about it.

When we got hungry, we decided it was time to head to Epcot. We planned to walk, but again, as soon as we got downstairs, a boat was arriving. We’d been studying the F&WF guide, but the minute we got into WS, DM saw a short line at the fish & chips place and couldn’t resist getting some.

I had a little, just to help her out with it. That way we’d both be able to do some sampling. The first kiosk that tempted us was Krakow, Poland.

Kielbasa with Potato Pierogies with caramelized onions and sour cream $4.50

That was really very good. I’d say it was one of the top three things I tried. DM was still pretty full from her fish, so she didn’t have any.

Next up was San Juan, Puerto Rico. We didn’t get anything to eat there that day, but they did have a couple of frozen concoctions that I needed to try. I was tempted by both, but ended up choosing the pina colada, and was not disappointed.

Frozen Pina Colada $6.50

The CM asked me for ID, and I didn’t have it, so I had to get my mommy to buy it. After that, I was sure to bring my ID (but I never needed it again).

We strolled over to Mexico City.

Quesadilla con Chorizo (spicy sausage and cheese tortilla) $3.75

That quesadilla was really tasty! We’d missed the Gran Fiesta Tour earlier in the day, so we went inside to see if it was running. There wasn’t a line, but that’s not unusual. We were happy to see that it was indeed running.

We next stopped at Cape Town, South Africa. We decided on the Durban chicken.

Durban Spiced Chicken on a Skewer with coconut milk-infused root vegetables $3.75

It was a bit spicy, but delicious. After that, we were both kind of full again, so we did more strolling around WS and enjoying ourselves. We watched Morockin, which is one of my favorite WS live acts.

By France, I was ready for my dessert. I was also ready for another FB.

DM hadn’t tried the Grand Marnier slush before, and she really liked it. For dessert, we went to Lyon, France.

Crème Brulee Chocolat au Lait (milk chocolate creme brulee) $3.75

The chocolate crème brulee is an old favorite, and it didn’t disappoint. We decided not to stick around for Illuminations because I wanted to go to Pleasure Island on its last night. I’d already heard from Jyl, who was working outside of the Adventurer’s Club, that it was full and even the people on line right then weren't likely to get in, so I knew I wouldn’t get in, but I wanted to go anyway.

We headed out at the IG, and stopped to do a bit of shopping before heading back. When we exited the shop, a boat was arriving, so we hopped on. DM was ready for bed, so I freshened up a bit and then headed down to the bus stop for the first time. I waited about 10 minutes before a bus to DTD arrived. There were quite a few people waiting for the bus, but most of them got off at the Marketplace. Before we got to DTD, we stopped at a few stops at CBR for some reason.

Pleasure Island was as packed as I’d expected, with long lines to get into every club. I went to the Adventurer’s Club and watched the action for a bit. There were a few interesting characters on the line, including a couple of men in dresses. They would only let new people in when others exited, so when one or two people would exit, everyone would cheer!

I didn’t see Jyl, so I asked another CM and she brought me up to the door where Jyl was working. I got to talk to her about how she’s liking the College Program and her new assignment (Tomorrowland, which I thought was awesome ) I didn’t want to keep her from her work for too long, so after a few minutes I said goodbye, but not before getting a picture.

I walked around for a few more minutes before finally heading to the bus stop. I wasn’t waiting more than 3 minutes before a bus pulled up. When I got back to the room, DM was asleep. I set a wakeup call and turned in.

Up Next: Donald’s Debut

Since I really didn't have a chance to partake of F&WF, you really helped clear up some questions for me (1) why was the line so long at Poland and (2) what everyone was drinking from those little cups from Puerto Rico!

Glad that you got to meet Jyl! I never was able to meet up with her, but at least I know what she looks like now (so I can be on the lookout next time! ).

I love how you two are whipping it through F&WF!

Jill
