Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We really enjoyed our brunch at Palo as well!! I think of the three options offered (tea, brunch and dinner) we prefer the brunch over the other two - although I really like dinner too.

Sunday 16 December – part two: enjoying Palo’s brunch

Now it was time to dive into the Palo brunch buffet! We didn’t take too much, as we knew there were a few of the hot plates that we wanted to sample.



The first thing I got was the chilled strawberry soup, which was absolute perfection. I didn’t think it was the done thing to lick the bowl at Palo, but I would’ve done if I thought I could’ve got away with it.



For the next course, I had the eggs Julia with smoked salmon, while Mark had the eggs benedict with Piglet… oops sorry bacon… both dishes were cooked to perfection with lovely runny eggs on them.



Next up I got the tilapia with the asparagus risotto. The fish was absolutely beautiful, but the risotto, for me, didn’t go with the dish. I thought the flavours overwhelmed the fish to a certain extent.



Mark got the chicken parmigiana…



Our final course saw Mark get the veal saltimbanco…



…while I had the dish I’d most been looking forward to, pizza with grapes, blue cheese and port. It sounded amazing, and I’d told Igor I didn’t want anymore than a couple of portions. He told me he’d have the rest of the dish, as they get to pick a couple for lunch, so that nothing went to waste, which was good of him. Tragically, I hated this dish. There was just far too much port in it for my liking – honestly it was running off the pizza, and that’s all I could taste. I know we saw other tables happily devouring it, so obviously it was just me, but it wasn’t my kind of thing at all.



For dessert, we both grabbed some samples, and agreed the chocolate mousse was a winner. The tiramisu wasn’t bad, but the passion fruit cheesecake was appalling. Honestly, it’s an Italian restaurant, why serve up disgusting American cheesecake? Sorry, you guys, but once you’ve had European cheesecake, you would never go back to this…



I also loved the mango panna cotta, and Mark raved about the fruit in Grand Marnier, so for the most part, dessert was good.

By now, I was really hot. I never would’ve imagined how warm it would get at our seats, but the sun was really blazing through the window (it was in the mid 70s and humid when we went outside), and that was getting to me. I ended up leaving Mark to settle up the check, and went to sit in the other dining room, which was a lot cooler. I met Nikolai, who’d served us during our Alaskan cruise, and it was so good to see him again. I’m glad I asked if he’d been on the other ships, as he immediately asked me if we’d been on the Wonder, and told me he thought he’d recognised me, but didn’t want to make a fool of himself.

Palo brunch:

Buffet 9½ 9½
Soup 9 N/A
Hot entrees 8½ 9
Dessert 8½ 9
Service 10 10
Atmosphere 9½ 9½

Average score: 9.27



Mark came out, and we headed down to the shops to spend a bit of money!



There were some items with discounts, including a Fantasy hoodie for me that was down from $60 to $30 and an inaugural sailings T-shirt that was done from $33 to $27. Unfortunately, I don’t think any of the items Mark wanted were priced down.

Ok, after this post I am seriousely disappointed I wasn't able to book Palo brunch for our upcoming trip!! What do you think the chances are of getting a reservation when we get on board? I was able to get reservations for Palo dinner and Remy dinner, but now thanks to you, I really, really want brunch too!! Good thing I will be running in the CC 5k on this trip!

The black truffle pasta purseittes - yum!! I had the same thing - I would have been more than happy to have skipped the soup and had another round of those Loved the shrimp pasta too! And yep - the sweet temptations was most delightful!

Next cruise - we are going to HAVE to try the brunch!! It looks amazing

I had the chicken parmesean too and it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. My mom and I shared it and we were only going to take a bite or tow and honestly we were about to lick the plate clean too.

I say lick your bowl. The chef should take that as a good sign!!
It all sounded and looked deeeelicious! Bummer about the pizza though. Maybe they over did it on yours? Nothing like a full belly and then being overheated. Good thing you sneaked away to cool down a bit!

All caught up. You definitely did have a great first day! Happy to hear you liked your table mates, but they were indeed young, and together for a really long time at that! And brunch looked delicious!!! I was full just looking at all of the food you tried out.
