Run Ria Run –The 5K Weekend Warrior PTR *Updated September 22* - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad your friends are going to be joining you. I'm sure you will have fun showing a newbie around!! Not sure where to take her first. How much does she know about Epcot? Has she expressed an interest in something that she would like to do?
Both of the t-shirts look great! Can't wait to hear more
I think I am going to do EPCOT with the newbie first! I am still working on tweaking the shirts to look there best!
So sorry about the unexpected surgery! How scary . Hope you are starting to feel better and will be pain free for a long time.
Love the t-shirts. Do both!!
Wanted to tell you that the CSR was sometimes on our bus route and everytime we passed it I said to DH "Oh, it's soooo pretty, maybe we should've stayed there!" You'll love it I'm sure!
I am so gad you thought the CSR looked like a place you wanted to stay...we are so excited to stay there on our upcoming weekender.
I am feeling much better everyday since the surgery...thanks for your concern.
I may do more then one shirt!

Thats so sweet! I agree if i finish this 5K especially after the emergency surgery...I am getting a lot more than a t-shirt!
I love your Couch to Expedition Everest shirt.
I am glad you are feeling better and listening to your doctor and taking it easy. I did an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill for you tonight. So you are good for a day or so.
I am so excited to meet you so if things don't go as well with your friend you can come hang out with us. But I am sure it will go just perfectly.
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to more. I guess I should get busy on mine.
Thanks for doing the extra 10 minutes! I can't wait to meet you guys too!

Its true...and I think that there are some great counter service restaurants at WDW too so it wont be to much of a bad thing.

My weekend in Disney is about 5 weeks away. But so much had happened since my last post.
# 1
Ben and I moved to Florida
Here we are on our long ride from Louisiana to Florida in the moving truck…
We love our apartment! It really nice to have a two bedroom …we have set up Ben’s office and we are going to get some book shelves we love at IKEA.
me cooking in our new kitchen
me on our porch beautiful sunsets
#2
I started running again… I took a 2 week break after my surgery. I am doing OK but can’t seem to find my motivation as much as I did before surgery…I hope in the next 5 weeks I can get a surge of motivation.
#3
I am continuing to lose weight about 31 lbs since May.
Before
After
I am down 2 sizes and had to give away 80 % of my wardrobe b/c things were falling off of me. I am doing Weight Watchers…but also started a weight loss blog which keep me motivated. I also joined the Passporter Challengers…they are a great group I recommend this group to anyone who wants to lose weight, maintain a loss, or just get on track with a healthy lifestyle.
One of my major weight loss goals this summer was to be able to fit back into my wedding dress…which I tried on when I went to Louisiana a couple of weeks ago…it fit!
I have decided that for every 5 lbs I lose from now on I am going to buy myself a new pin. So I decided to buy 3 for the 30 lbs I already lost 1 pin for every 10 lbs. I bought two at DTD recently…and a new lanyard that will be just for my weigh loss pins.
“Bickey Bear”---(a gift from Ben on our first trip) wearing my new lanyard.
#4
Ben and I have been enjoying living close to WDW (a fast 35 minute drive from our apartment) we have been 4 or 5 times. We don’t have our Annual Passes yet so we did one day at EPCOT…but have mostly we have been to Downtown Disney and a couple of the resorts.
the happy couple at DTD
We ate Beaches and Cream one night last week.
(not diet but so good…we split this and there was still a serving left)
Another night we decided to make it a Raglan Road dinner…yummy.
**this night we had after dinner drinks at the AKL. (very romantic)
Rainy Day at EPCOT
We had a fun/wet day at EPCOT. We were able to experience the new Spaceship Earth. We really liked it I missed a lot of things from the old one…but the new one is definitely not bad.
Ben and I drinking Rose and Crown trying to forget about the rain Fay brought
This was at 11 AM and the pub was bumping!
Ben also got to ride a Segway at Innoventions which pretty much made his day…convincing me that for his birthday at Segway tour is in order.
# 5
Tomorrow Ben and I both start school.
What $800 worth of law books looks like…at least the tote was free.
Tomorrows his first day of Law School…he had orientation last week and has been studying almost everyday preparing for the first day. I start Valencia Community College and my first class is Math yuck.
*******************
So as you can see we have been sorta busy…and then we had to deal with tropical storm Fay which made it a wet mess here. We are excited to start a new part of our life here in Florida. We love having our own place it feels great after always living with other people or under other people supervision for so long.
We are getting our Annual Passes in September and we are really looking forward to our September weekend trip. Our travel companions Jake and Ashley keep emailing me about how excited they are…which in turn makes me really excited.
Maria: I am so glad you are feeling better and are enjoying your new surroundings. I love your Mickey singing in the rain pin. How cool you fit into your wedding dress. I may have to pull mine out to see what it would look like me. Hmm then again maybe I better lose another 10 pounds first.
I understand the loss of motivation here lately myself. I have thought about things that might motivate me. Really you, Dawn, Crissy 1 and 2 have been great motivators. I am so looking forward to catching up with you guys. I also think that I am going to outrun my DH. He may get out ahead me in the beginning but my endurance will outlast him. So as we pass him we can point and laugh at him. J/k!
Keep up the great work Maria!
