As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

A nice time spent with some friends in Epcot! Your drinks looked very good and some of your apps did and some didn't as you said! Surprised you didn't have any wine! I guess with some other specialty FABs to chose from...

The wine just doesn't excite me as much, I think because we do wine tastings kind of a lot here actually, Grapevine is 35-40 minutes away and has 7 wineries and does a whole bunch of fun stuff throughout the year

Thanks! The yuzu slush and watermelon salad were both great!!
After our midday break we were back to the bus stop around 5:30 and made it to Epcot by 6. Stopped for fresh Photopass pictures now that we were all nice and not sweaty. Five minute wait for Spaceship Earth so detoured there quickly before dinner. Ellie is not happy with her picture here, they can really be so hit or miss
Also, it was just an incredibly beautiful evening at Epcot, the pictures don’t do it justice.
We headed back to World Showcase for our dinner at La Hacienda. Neither of us had been here before so it was exciting to try something new together again, although we were hesitant after our experience at Bongos the night before. We ultimately were sat early with several empty tables. At first, they tried to put us at a tiny table for two in the middle of the room where we would have been able to touch elbows with the family at the next table. So we nicely asked if we could have a booth and were taken back out into the lobby to wait and then quickly heading back into the dining room and to a lovely booth.
After we decided and placed our order, our food came a little too fast which is really my only complaint. No Tables in Wonderland here but a DVC discount is available, always ask! Great service and delicious food. Everything was hot and fresh and had amazing flavors. Ellie loved the spicy salsa. I loved the sauce on the chicken, a little sweet but so tasty. We split everything and were so glad to have a bigger table because we had a lot of plates...
Rosita Margarita - Rose infusion, tequila, fresh lime juice, served on the rocks with a hibiscus Himalayan salt rim
It was so pretty I did it twice
Queso Fundido - melted cheese with chorizo, poblano peppers, serrano and avocado-tomatillo sauce, and flour tortillas
Pan Seared Snapper - snapper served atop of tequila butter cascabel pepper reduction accompanied with roasted tomatillos, onions, chiles toreados and queso fresco with corn esquites; gluten free;
Pollo al Pastor - Achiote marinated half chicken served with roasted vegetables, beans and pineapple relish; gluten free and dairy free;
I’m pretty sure I got the entrees right there, but not positive, sorry! We definitely had chicken and fish
La Hacienda de San Ángel
First Time Visit - yes
Best Part: you can get a skillet of cheese, I mean really!
Worst Part: the tables can be kind of cramped
Would I return: Absolutely!
TiW Savings: not available here
When we were terribly full and our bill was settled, we headed off towards France. It was around 7:55 af this point and we were planning ice cream for dessert. Germany drew us in instead and since we were full we decided to stop and get a small snack here because we wouldn't be ready for a whole thing of ice cream even though we were taking our leisurely stroll.
We did ultimately make it to France and found a nice spot behind parasol painters and waited out the rest of the time til 9 so we could catch Illuminations. Tried some new settings on my camera but still can't figure out how to change the shutter speed for optimal fireworks pictures I have a better camera at home it’s just really bulky so I never bring it anymore.
Power walked to the front and an Old Key West bus pulled up as we got into the queue which wasn't too busy yet. Back home by 10!
Showered before going through photopass pics from the day and nibbling on my cookie from Germany We were in bed by 11 and I relaxed while writing up notes from the day!
Day 4 -
Total Steps:17,322
Highlight: The absolutely gorgeous sunset over Epcot
Something New: La Hacienda de san Angel, yummo
Tip for Next Time: Always ask about discounts when dining!
Memo to self - do not read someone's trip report where they describe their dinner and share photos when you're hungry! Oh boy, that snapper looked really good.
just starting to read. lucky that you don't need your passport to travel. we can't go anywhere without our passport. my daughter had the same problems when we went to the States, they asked for ID everywhere and here you can drink at 18, so when we went and she was almost 21, she has already been drinking for 3 years here, but lots of places in the States wouldn't serve here, although some places did, usually not the chain restaurants though. i like your mickey bracelets, is that the magic band? not sure yet what the magic bands are, just read about it.
