TR: Thingamabobs, Zebra & Giraffes, Oh My! Completed 3/25/15 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I finally made time to read through the whole report so far. Other than Scott's back issues and the flight situation, you guys have really packed in the fun! So nice to share good times with good friends.
What an AWESOME trip report!! I am sorry about Scott's back issues, but he seems like he is working through them. Emily is a beautiful girl and she looks as though she is having an amazing time!! Can't wait to read more of your fun adventures!
Well, as long as you were doing something so worthwhile, you're excused.
Thanks! Yes, it is fun, but crazy planning 2 trips at the same time!

Before I proceed with the TR, I thought I would share some cuteness with you all!!! The girls (AKA....Maggie & Lilly) went to Doggie Day Care for the first time on Friday, and apparently they had alot of fun!!! Here they are all smiles!
Saturday, July 5, 2014 Continued:
When we arrived back at the resort, we thought we would go for a swim, but Mother Nature had other plans, it was pouring on and off, and thunder and lightning. At one point, it did seem like the rain was letting up, so I took a walk down to the pool area by myself – and sure enough it was closed, but I was able to get some decent photos with no one in them!
I headed back up to the room, but stopped in the Community Hall to see what they offered in there, and took a photo of the paint your own ceramics, hoping that Em and I could come back one day to do something.
I returned to the room, the girls were watching something on the tv. I made a plate of snacks, poured myself a glass of wine and sat out on the balcony watching the animals! The girls joined me for snacks with their root beer or whatever they were drinking. Scott was taking a nap. It was a perfect afternoon!
After a while we decided to head back to the park, as the girls were able to snag a very hard to get fast pass they wanted to make sure they were on time for! So we all freshened up and headed back out.
Now, to back track a little and fill you in on what the girls did during their alone time – apparently Emily was on a mission to get photos of the characters holding a sign that said “Happy Anniversary” which she made Scott and I a video of with our wedding song to present to us on our actual anniversary - it was very sweet! And Bree was very happy to be visiting characters all day long!
So they visited with Tinker Bell, Mickey (and he even spoke and Emily recorded it for us!), Aladdin & Jasmine, Donald and Goofy.
Somewhere along the way they had Root Beer Floats!
I know they rode a few rides, but she didn’t make note of it, and apparently I must have failed to note it as well. I do know that they rode the train back to the front of the park from Fantasyland and Em was excited that Mary Poppins was greeting when they exited the train, but they failed to get a photo. After that meet and greet is when they went to the Confectionary and purchased snacks and met up with us for the parade.
Now, back to the regular scheduled TR:
When we first entered MK, the girls stopped for a Photopass photo on Main Street! Have to have that park photo of them each visit!
Then we headed straight back to Space Mountain and were able to get on with little wait.
Then it was time for the girls “HOT” fastpass………………they were going to meet with Anna & Elsa ~ Bree was very excited as she had not yet met them – and Emily – well I think she could visit with them every day and be happy!
While they were visiting the new Royals in town, Scott and I wandered around, and ran into a photopass photographer!
The weather was still pretty iffy – raining on and off a bit.
We met back up with the girls to decide what we would eat for dinner, and it was decided that we would share a couple pork shanks from Gaston’s Tavern and a Mac ‘n Cheese from Friar’s Nook. Em had another Le Fou’s Brew, I had a diet coke, and Scott and Bree each had a lemonade I believe.
After we ate, it was time to head back to the resort as Bree’s Mom would be picking her up. We really enjoy our visits with her and one of these days, I hope that Gray can join in too for some adult time!
We did stop for one last photopass photo together!
After saying good night to Bree and Gray, we stopped in the gift shop and purchased a couple snacks……….zebra domes!!! And headed back to the room for an early night, and of course, my nightly soak in MY tub!!

That was quite an active day in the MK and you all certainly fit a lot in during the day! Emily's interaction with Gaston are priceless and the two of them looked like a comedy team, that does this all the time...but it wasn't! Quite funny! Too bad for the rain, but still a great day!

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Sounds like a nice relaxing time before heading back to the parks. That was so sweet of Em to do that for your anniversary! Glad the girls got to meet Anna and Elsa. I know that was the highlight of my trip, just seeing the look on my niece's face. A soak in the tub sounds like an awesome way to end the day!

Thanks! Yes - Em and Gaston were quite the pair! Lots of other guests thought it was all quite funny!

What a fun day, despite the on and off rain!! That was so sweet of Emily to gather your Anniversary goodies!! What a nice girl she is! It looks like she had a great time with Bree as well. The pictures are lovely!
I'm only about halfway through this, but wanted to stop and comment. You get so much done each day! I feel like I didn't do anywhere near what you guys did at Disney!!! I would love to try Hollywood Brown Derby some day (and the Grapefruit Cake!). Love all the pictures!! Makes me sad looking at the pictures of the hat at DHS as it was almost gone while we were there. I'll catch up on this TR soon! Love reading it!
