Wait!!! Wasn't this supposed to be a weekend trip? TR COMPLETE 11/2 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Whew...I know what teenage girls are like without their out of the bubble communication. Great CM saved your life there. Sounds like you guys had a great time...keep it coming!
Hi Meg! Glad you were able to get back to Disney before scheduled. I love the "specific friend" terminology. I'm gonna use that one. I too get migraines regularly, actually I had one yesterday and I sooo fear of getting one or more than one on vacation because I am no more good when I get them and usually have a headache the day after so it would put a damper on any vacation. I hope u got better and QUICKLY. I have never done the cowboy side either...it's always been a gangster. Hmmm that'll be my new mission at DHS. I'm glad you had a great meet up with Jillybean and HER bean, Mary Devall whose trip reports I also love. Can't wait to see what happens next. I hope that knee doesn't give you any more trouble!

Whew - teenage angst of no "specific someone" contact and yeah for the Universal charger! Glad to hear Angel got another surprise in the form of Caleigh.
I'm so glad that you averted a disaster with the phone charger. I cannot imagine the wrath of a teen with no way to contact the outside world. It sounds like the day was a great surprise for Angel and her friend!

I fear the wrath of a teenage girl without her phone! Mine's only 11, but I'm already being pestered with "Mom, can I have a phone? Mom, can I have a phone? Mom, can I have a phone?
The funniest thing is she is hardly on the phone...these kids do not talk to each other they text. Wish I could have a phone plan that just has texting..., I think she might use 40 minutes a month from our calling plan, and about 5000 text messages

Wonderful day at the Studios and how cool to be able to enjoy time with a good friend.
Donna really made the trip, she was just one of those CMs that just went above and beyond, and she was not the only one this trip (more on that later )

Angel was so surprised when she found out Caleigh was coming to spend the day with us, once she found out she was staying over she was super excited.

Whew!
That charger sure did save the trip...Jasmine is pretty good as she hardly ever talks on the phone, but not check her FB or get a text...one cranky teenager.

Glad the charger situation was quickly remedied by some understanding CMs.
How fun Caleigh could come for a visit....hope you survive the extra personality when touring the next couple of days.
Danielle
The extra personality was fine, and I think two days was the perfect amount of time, the summers are hard on them becuase during the school year they are inseperatable, then in the summer they go almost three months without seeing each other. When we got back Angel had recieved a letter that Caleigh wrote to her from Antigua - 10 pages and mini print...lol guess she missed Angel a bit

It was a great trip, Jasmine is fine with leaving the friends for vacation...as long as she can see and respond to what is going on, not that I understand how they have so much to say to each other...

So excited that you are heading back soon, really excited to hear what you think of the cabins when you get back. The migraine did last off and on for about 4 days, funny at home I would have been laying in bed in the dark, guess even with a migraine I just could not lay in bed at Disney , I think the first day was the worst...I needed to lay down after lunch for that hour, it had really gotten unbearable.

Caleigh is usually there every year when we are there, it just had never worked out, this year we went earlier so it worked out perfectly.

I think if it wasn't for the "specific someone" she would have been fine without communication, funny that he had been to Disney about a month before we were and they were texting back and forth all day and night, she kept reporting back what he was doing I felt like we were actually there with the play by play.

Angel was really surprised, her and Caleigh always talk about going to Disney together so I was glad that the timing worked out on this trip. Donna the CM at concierge really was an Angel, and let me tell you I would have paid more if need be to get her that charger, I was pretty happy with the price when they told me.
I got down to the pool and we were all pretty hungry as with all the excitement of Caleigh's arrival I think all we had eaten was some fruit.
Small side story - back last winter I booked a trip for a co-worker, she went in June, it was her daughter's first trip. Well she called to tell me what a wonderful trip they were having and also if I knew anything about DVC, told her that it took awhile but that I finally took the plunge, definitely worthwhile and then her husband got on the phone with some questions and the following morning she called to say they took the plunge and they used me as a referral and what luck as the day before we left what came in the mail...a $200 Disney Gift Card from DVC thanking me for my referral (easiest $200 I ever made ) so I put it too use as it covered all of our counter service / snacks for the entire trip. Funny thing is last week she already called me over to tell me she booked her next trip...she definitely got the bug.
So we headed to the Mara, Jasmine and I shared a burger, Angel only wanted fries, and Caleigh, I think she had chicken nuggets. All full we headed back to the pool.
Angel and Caleigh were busy swimming and joining in all the activities going on at the pool.
While the girls were busy Jasmine and I just soaked in the pool, Jasmine loved the whole zero entry thing...she said this is her favorite pool, this resort really one Jasmine over.
I think we were in the pool on and off for about 2 hours, and it did wonders for my knee, while it still hurt to bend the swelling went down quite a bit from all the pool time.
We had dinner at the Wave this evening at 5:15, and we needed to get to the business center so around 3:15 Jasmine went up to take a shower, I stayed down at the pool with the girls as they were doing a hula hoop contest. At 3:45 I had to almost drag them from the pool, I think Angel would have spent the whole trip there and she would have had an amazing time.
The girls showered quickly, then I jumped in and got dressed and since we had lingered at the pool longer than planned we hopped in a cab (best $17 I spent) got to the Contemporary around 4:45, found the business center, made our purchase (they had the charger there wrapped up waiting with my name on it) and then the girls wandered around outside until it was time to check in.
While the girls took a look outside, Jasmine planted herself by an outlet in the lobby so that she could at least check her messages and before long she was back to with her friends.
We checked in, waited for maybe five minutes and we were brought to our table. The restaurant was still pretty empty at this point, but by the time we left it had filled up quite a bit. The chef was wonderful and came out to discuss Angel and my allergies and we all took in the surroundings as this was our first time here.
Caleigh had the kids pasta and Angel had her trademark grilled chicken with sweet potato fries which she really enjoyed.
Now I had been going back and forth over the past couple of weeks with the menu, and a few things called out to me...but in the end I went with the pork tenderloin with bonito bread pudding and a warm spinach and bacon salad. It was really good except the bonito bread budding had this strange after taste so it was not my favorite, but the pork and the spinach salad were delicious and it came with a spicy peach jam that was really good.
Jasmine ordered the other option that was on the top of my list, the expresso-bbq short ribs with mustard slaw and applewood smoked bacon potato salad and she said everything was amazing, she was nice enough to offer me a bite but she cleared her plate clean.
Jasmine and I were going to split a dessert, but we were so full from dinner we passed. Caleigh enjoyed a sundae and Angel had some tofutti ice cream, but she was pretty full so don't think she ate much.

The girls wanted to take a picture to remember thier meal
Jasmine asked for a few more minutes at an outlet, she found one in the ladies room that was a bit more out of the way then standing strangly in the lobby trying to hide the fact that she was plugging her phone into the outlet.
The girls wandered back outside with me to take a few more photos.
We gathered Jasmine and headed to the bus to catch one to DHS. Now suddenly Caleigh was tired, she did not know if she wanted to go back to a park, but we were going so I told her that we could do some relaxing rides and we still had those TSMM FPs in our pocket and I knew she would love the ride.
We made it to DHS quickly and the girls stopped for a picture with their favorite delivery man.
We had plans to meet Jill and Mary Devall when they finished dinner so we headed to TSMM to pass the time.
Up Next: Would Caleigh get out of her funk and how many times can three girls ride ToT in one night.
