Maybe I Will Get It Right This Time- The Third Time's The Charm TR Updated 11/2 with Playhouse Disney Play 'n Dine Breakfast - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I will never understand why people are in such a hurry to get out of the airplane. I know that they want to get to their destination, but is it really going to kill you to let the people in the row in front of you get out?

It's crazy! I love how as soon as the wheels hit the ground you hear the click of the seatbelts coming off and all the overhead bins opening up. And then you always get the person who sits in the back of the plane, but stores his carry on in a bin at the front of the plane.

Seriously, can we finish landing first? We tend to wait until everyone is off the plane also since I don't feel like having my kiddos trampled on. Do you really get sick when you fly? That's terrible. Do you take anything like Dramamine?

I know it really did feel like an eternity with the boys continuously asking "when is the driver getting back on the bus". Like I knew the answer, lol.

Glad the airport was a breeze and that you guys got to sit together. They did this to us on our Dec 07 trip. They had put me, my DH and my youngest DD together and my olders DD (who was 7 at the time) at the back of the plane by herself. Luckily a guy traveling by himself traded with my DH so he could sit with her. She was in tears because they made her go sit down until they found someone to trade. I was not happy at all. I don't know why they didn't let her just stay with us until we found someone. Then my first trip with just me and the girls I got this nasty older lady in Atlanta (we had a layover) who I told that I was traveling by myself with two young kids. She put me and one DD together and had my other DD in a seat at the back of the plane. Luckily the flight attendant was nice about it and the plane wasn't full, so it was no biggie. But I did tell her how upset I was with the lady at the gate. I wish I had gotten her name, because I would have complained to Delta.
Oh, and not trip related, how do you like your Kindle? I am looking at getting one or a Nook from Barnes & Noble.
Can't wait for more.
Oh, that's terrible. I feel so bad for your DD. I love my Kindle. I don't know much about the Nook, but I'm sure it's as great as the Kindle. I think you will love it. I love being able to download a book right away. It worked great in Disney too.

Well, the color coordinating this year was basically accidental since most of the clothes was from last year, lol. You will see I gave up on matching after a few days. It was just too much work, lol.

Last year when we came home from New York, oh my, I sat on that plane for like 10 minutes after we landed bc I really thought I was going to lose it!! My neighbor's mother told me about this medicine she uses, Bonine. She get's motion sickness, as well. I used it in July when we went to San Francisco and I didn't get sick at all! However, I kind of felt light-headed for the day and a half after the flight out and after the flight home. (Don't know if that was jet lag or size effect of the medicine?) I don't really ride many of the spinning/fast moving rides because of this, but I think next summer when we go to Disney I will take the Bonine each day to see if it helps me from getting sick. This will be my children's first time going and I want to make sure I get to experience everything with them!
Also--Thanks so much for the running tally of tips. I may just try to keep track of that as well.
Your welcome. I know sometimes it's hard to figure out how much extra money one will need for tips and such. I thought this might help.

I know, I couldn't even put my bag in my overhead bin because someone way in the back hogged it up. DH had to put it in his. You are so right.

I took Bonine before riding Mission Space this year (green version, which actually made me sick last year). I loved it. Worked like a charm. I will try it on the orange version next year and really put it to the test. I didn't realize it was your kids's first trip. They will love it and will not want to come back home.
I think it is too funny that we were just discussing people on the airplane getting up before the plane gets to the terminal and the biggest news story in the past few days has been about the flight attendant who jumped out of the plane after being smashed in the head by a woman getting her bag as the plane was heading to the terminal!! She didn't even apologize, but she used a few choice words to the FA, which is the reason he got fed up and jumped out!

All caught up!!! First, let me say "wow, that's a lot of luggage!!"
What a great reaction from the boys, i don't know how you could keep the secret from them that long. Sorry about the Hampton Inn.
More please!!
We usually end up with extra time at the airport as well, glad the boys made it through the wait and that the flight was uneventful. Love the pictures of the room at POP, the renovated rooms look great and it looks like the perfect place to enjoy until your switch over to Kidani tomorrow.
After checking out our rooms the kids got tired of just sitting around. (notice the running theme here).
We wanted to check out the store at Pop which we remembered had a great selection the last time we stayed here.
We looked around a bit. Although we all saw a lot of things we liked, we decided to wait since it was only our first night. All of us except for Aidan that is. He doesn't care if he wastes his money the first night. When he sees something he wants, he's getting it.
He spotted an Indidana Jones Mickey Mouse that he just had to have. (He loves everything Indiana Jones, even DH's hat from last year, lol)
Okay, I guess I did give in and buy something. I was just going over my notes and remembered I bought a Pop Century Resort pin and a Pop postcard. I guess Aidan takes after his mom.
After some shopping, we were so hungry our stomachs were talking. Time to get some dinner.
We had the deluxe dining plan this night (we did this last year too), but we didn't want to waste our credits on this meal so we paid OOP.
We headed over to the foodcourt and were happy to have many different choices. I'm going to now attempt to do something I haven't done before and rate our food. I will use smiley faces (since my kids are sitting next to me and that's what they chose).
means the food was okay, but no big deal
means it was really good and we would probably get it again, but wouldn't go out of our way just to eat that again.
means the food was great and we would travel from anywhere in the world to get it.
means the food was disgusting and we would never eat it again and by "we" I mean even DH (and he'll eat anything)
Aidan got an adult pizza. The kids one was just too small and I figured if there was any left over, it definitely wouldn't go to waste (DH likes to call himself the garbage disposal).
this was not great pizza, but actually better than some pizza we've had here in Philly. We are spoiled from living so close to NY all our lives (North Jersey) and no pizza could ever live up to that. Aidan ate most of it and like I said before, he eats like a bird.
Jared got a meatball sub which was bigger than his head. No joke. It came with a side salad. I knew there was no way he was going to eat it. He practically had to dislocate his jaw to eat it. I knew DH was counting on leftovers since he was eyeing it the whole time Jared was eating it. You should've seen how excited he was when Jared finally said he was full. Too bad he didn't realize that Jared had eaten all the meatballs and left him with only bread and sauce.
Both DH and DS really enjoyed this. It had plenty of meatballs and just the right amount of sauce. I didn't taste it since I'm not a big fan of meatballs, although I did eat some later in the trip.
Here are some pictures of Jared attempting to eat his sub
look at all the sauce on his face
Will got the shrimp lo mein.
He enjoyed it and it was exactly what he was craving. He said it was better than your average foodcourt meal. I don't like shrimp and didn't taste it, but I will take his word for it since he didn't say a word the whole time he was eating it.
I got an adult size pasta with marinara sauce. I wasn't in the mood for meat, but I do love me some carbs, lol.
I really thought I had a picture of my food, but have no idea where it went. If I find it, I will post it later.
Anyway, I will give it . It hit the spot, but it was nothing special.
All 4 meals came out to around $32. We got refillable mugs with the DXDDP, therefore we didn't have to pay for drinks.
Once our bellys (is it bellys or bellies?) were full, it was time to head back to our room and decided what we would do the rest of the night.
Oh, I forgot to mention, when we were leaving Everything Pop, Will almost left our baggalini behind. He hung it from the back of his chair, and was walking away without it. I have no idea how I noticed it, but thankfully I happened to look that way, just as a CM was coming to tell us we were forgetting our bag.
I have no idea what we would've done as we had all our cash and gift cards in that bag. Let's not even think about it ok?
We cleaned up after ourselves, rinsed our mugs, and headed back to our room for a few minutes (And if you've gotten to know our kids in reading this TR, you know I really mean a few minutes, lol).
We really hadn't planned on going anywhere tonight and just getting to bed early so we could get an early start in the morning, but our plans quickly changed.
The boys really wanted to see their cousins (my DSis and her family were staying at Wilderness Lodge), but I really wanted to check out Pop since we didn't really get to last time we were there. (Tropical Storm Fay got in our way).
We walked around and really just took it all in. It really is a fun hotel. We made sure we got a lot of pictures and had a lot of fun just goofing around.
These were close to our room:
We had a blast playing Twister
To Be Continued... I was really trying to finish this update, but I'm just so tired. I was at work at 9am this morning and didn't get out till 6pm, followed by an hour commute. Im just so exhausted, I guess I'm getting old. I will try to add a short update in the morning.
I know, I was thinking that. I guess he was just fed up with rude people.

Mayra, I missed you. I know, I really do need to join Overpackers Anonymous. It really did affect our vacation as you will see later. I'm not sure how I kept the secret, but don't think I ever will again, lol.

I'm not used to being early at the airport or anywhere for that matter. The Pop room really was nice.
