I Don’t Wanna Grow Up – 30th Birthday Trip x2, August 7-11, 2010 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

weird my mom's birthday was yesterday how cool! I hope you had a great weekend. I just got back from FL this morning and am getting caught up again! I barely remember TRON but I might see this new one...I just wonder what it will look like!
I hope the big boy room went well...did someone ask what the decorations were? I was curious too!
that trivia was kinda weird...that is so sad that because someone was impatient they lost their life....that's just awful!
Just catching up, Kelly. I'm sure you've already made up your mind, but I think Mike's DATW t-shirt is fine. Obnoxious drunks around WS have nothing to do with what t-shirts they happen to be wearing. It's the behavior people have a problem with, not the clothes. Also, I think you look great, not big at all. Keep the great trivia coming!

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
Not so nice trivia today. Out of all the rides you think something like that would happen, the PeopleMover is not one of them!
Have a great weekend and try to stay cool!
I know right! I guess it's true that you get hurt doing things you shouldn't.

Thanks for joining and thank you for the congrats. We very well could have met - I was at Heather's margarita meet and I was at the ornament exchange too.

Why am I not surprised that you 2 had the same question.
Dylan's 'big boy' room has a space theme, but heavily on the Star Wars side of it. Look at the next update/post about how it went.
Crissy - so jealous you just got back from FL! And what a coincidence that your Mom's birthday was yesterday too!

Thanks for the reassurance Sharon! And thanks for the kind words too.
First things first, let's get caught up on the countdown:
Saturday, 6/12/10, 56 days to go: On June 22, West Germany beat Belgium 2-1 to win Euro 80. (A 'soccer' fact for Mike.)
Sunday, 6/13/10, 55 days to go: Disney released the animated short film Mickey Mouse Disco to theaters on June 25. An album of the music is also released.
Today, 54 days to go: Buena Vista released the live-action feature film The Last Flight of Noah's Ark to theaters on June 25. It is based on a story by Ernest Gann.
Well, Dylan slept in his 'big boy' bed Friday night with no problems and has kept it up so far. I guess when you prepare yourself for the worst, you can be pleasantly surprised. I did take pictures of him sleeping in it his first night too. It's so cute. Once I get some taken of his room and get them off the camera I'll share them all with you.
He also enjoyed being to play in the unfinished yet workable basement this weekend. I have a 'bounce house' downstairs and a swing, so he got to play with those and some cars and just pretty much have free roaming rights down there and now with the TV down there Mike could keep an eye on him while he watched all the matches. While they played I worked on moving Dylan's clothes to his new room and got out all his baby clothes for his new baby brother.
Speaking of the baby, they finally set my c-section date Friday night. i got a call from the nurse at about 6pm Friday night - I couldn't believe they called me so late. Anyway, I'm scheduled for Thursday, September 23 at 7:30am!! So if anyone wants to plan their vacations really far in advance we'll probably be in the world next year around that time for the 1st birthday celebration.
Yesterday I made dinner for my Mom for her birthday. We had pork roast, baked potato, corn on the cob, french bread, and German chocolate cupcakes for dessert. She was thrilled with the day. And I think the icing on the 'cup'cake was that Dylan sang her 'Happy Birthday'. It was so cute!
I forgot to include this: Don with AKL IPO left me a message yesterday that the size I wanted for Mike's SWW shirt wasn't available, but he was going to go ahead and get the next size up plus it was half off!! So even if it's a bit big it'll be ok - I can try to shrink it some.
I want to bring/do/send something for the AKL IPO staff this trip as they've helped me so much on this trip, but I'm kind of blanking on ideas. Anyone have any suggestions?
Well, while you're having your c-section we'll be taking off on the airplane headed for Disney! I will definitely be thinking of you though...I'll have nothing better to do on the plane.
Was is sad seeing Dylan sleep in his big boy bed? I'll probably be an emotional wreck over the fact that Hope is growing up, but at least he slept the whole night in it, so that's definitely a good thing!

Maybe I'll think of you going to Disney while I'm having my c-section. It might help distract me during the getting ready process.
You know, I thought I might be, but I wasn't. Even when Mike said 'We don't have a baby sleeping in the crib anymore'. Maybe I was just proud of him for doing it or since we'd been preparing him mentally for it that prepared me too.
It's weird - usually I'm quick to get emotional, but when I'm pregnant - not so much. I did fight back some tears this morning when I told by brother & fiance the date of the birth and he replied back that he'd be taking that day and the next day off (he lives about 1.5 hours away). I know he was there for Dylan's birth too, but since this is during the week it just really touched me.
Why am I not surprised that you 2 had the same question.
That's cause Crissy is really my long-lost-southern-ten-years-younger twin

Like I said earlier...Bruce Springsteen's birthday, nice!
And so glad the big boy bed is working out well for Dylan! He must be so excited to be the big boy now. And what a sweet present for your Mom that he sang to her. I know that my mother is happier just being with her grandsons (yes, all grandsons) than getting any kind of present from a store.

Well....I still don't think I'll be naming him Bruce.
He definitely is owning the 'big boy' status now. If you even mention 'baby' to him he says 'I not a baby. I a big boy.'
I did get my Mom something else, but she thought dinner was enough. And you're right - she loves being with her grandson!
