The Mighty Morphing Birthday Trip - Thread 2 - COMPLETE!! - UPDATED 12/1 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yay! Glad to see another update, Melissa. Your dinner at WCC sounded great. Sorry about the crowds at MGM for evening EMH. Been there, done that. Can't wait to hear about breakfast.

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
Today was finally "the" day "But Melissa" you say "you've had a couple birthday meals already this trip... how many birthdays are you celebrating in one year?" Well my friend, I consider the days before my bday as days building up to my bday and they're worth celebrating as well
Today's plan was to get to 'Ohana for a birthday breakfast with my favorite disconfigured dog Also, I was going to be able to celebrate with my Disney Twinkie, Maureen!
Andy and I got up and ready and caught a cab to the Poly. I have a hard time getting up in the morning and I don't like to rely on WDW transportation when it comes to getting to a morning ADR. We were there lickity split but got a call from Maureen that she was running behind. I think her alarm didn't go off and she'd gotten up like 15 minutes before the ADR time So she must have done some nascar type moves on the highway b/c she made it and she was only a few minutes late.
We were seated when she arrived, we got our leis and birthday card, and then it was time feast feast feast! Bring on the pineapple bread!!! But first, bring on the characters! Lilo visited first....
Then came the head honcho himself...
I have to say, sitting there waiting for my certain specific character to come around makes me feel like the biggest dork ever......b/c on the inside I'm feeling like such a kid! I get all nervous and excited and I just have to keep an eye out and see where he is in the restaurant...(I think a certain self proclaimed Minnie stalker can understand where I'm coming from here....)
Finally he made it over to see us.....
Who the heck knows what I said here.... I never remember...it's always a blur
But apparently Andy told Stitch to strike a pose for this one......
Hey Stitch, VOGUE!
Then came Pluto. Pluto always makes for a fun time. He's always very hyper.... I think he almost pulled me over in this next one...
And a more civilized photo....
Then came a surprise... You gotta love my man (I do ).... out comes a flippin' birthday cake!!! Birthday cake for breakfast!! WHOOOHOOO!!!! He had it decorated so that it had happy birthday to me and Maureen both on it...awwwww
Then we all exchanged some presents.... Maureen had a cute little handmade teacher bucket for me And I had given her a glass with Stitch on one side (coconut drink in hand) and her name on the back (I have the same glass, but it doesn't say Maureen on the back.....it says Melissa .... It's my numero uno fav drinking glass around the house! -Hey Stitch is drinking on the glass...I think it's perfect- )
Andy went waaaay overboard and gave me the pair of Coach sunglasses I had said I wished I could have.... but instead I had bought myself a cheap pair that looked similar. I could have beat him for spending so much on something like that, but I was too excited about my gift
We were stuffed from breakfast and cake, and man there was a lot of cake left (speaking of...I wish I could have a piece of that cake right now ) Maureen told us that Kevan had surprised her with a night at the CR and she was going to go see if she could check in early. We forced her to take the cake with her so she could stick it in the fridge and share it with her family. I was glad she did b/c I can't stand to see good cake go to waste (if you remember my last birthday TR I was forcing slices of cake onto unsuspecting patrons in Le Cellier)
So we said our goodbyes in hopes to run into each other later that night. Maureen headed to the CR and we caught a bus to the AK.
What a great Birthday breakfast - that cake looks yummo!!!! Glad you got to share it with Maureen and got some good birthday goodies. Can't wait to hear more about your day!
When we got to the AK we ran right into Wes Palm. He was standing around all by his lonesome so we decided to get a photo. As I walked up to him he started ragging me about my lei. He asked me if I knew I was blooming. I asked him if I could get a picture with him and he told me to get closer to him and put my hands around his trunk SO when I did he yelled out at Andy "Hey did you know your girlfriend was a tree hugger?" I got a good laugh out of that one. That Wes Palm, he's quite the comedian....
I have a ton of pictures from this day, mostly from EE. So I'm going to just post the pictures b/c I can't remember much else.....
I can't remember if I've already told this story b/c the Dinousaur experiences have run together in my head, but Andy took upon himself to sit in the "sucker seat" and do a stupid ride photo. Of course, the suggestion was all mine. I said it would be hilarious if you were wearing long sleeves and pulled your hand up in your sleeve and make it look like the Carnotaurus had ripped it right off. Well even though Andy had on short sleeves, he decided that was the way to go.... so our ride photo was HILARIOUS!! Andy has video of it, so you might be seeing it soon. The only stupid thing was he was holding the camera during the ride in the hand closest to the dino so he pulled in his left arm which sort of took away from the purpose
We also walked through the Maharajah Jungle Trek....
We had just talked smack about this fellow and he must never move b/c he is always there in that position on that rock.....and then he did this...
("How good is his hearing?")
More pics from the trek...
And of course Andy has turned into quite the ham for photos..
On our way out of the park we stopped to see if we could find the sea otters, but none were about....
But we did just happen to catch this guy...
And this fellow was being very hammy for the camera, too....
After that we made our way back to the WL... We had lunch and then went for a swim... I have some funny cute pictures of that coming up...
I'm loving that you got started again! I love me some good Melissa and Andy stories!
I think that Thom had that same sunset fru fru drink at WCC - - poor guy could only finish one though.
What a wonderful birthday that you are having (and I fully believe in stretching those birthdays out as far as they will go ). You and Maureen are such cute birthday Twinkies!
