10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Except for the app, which has a displeasurable taste, your dinner sounded and looked very delicious.
Overall the app was good but it had a bit of a strong aftertaste that didn't agree with me that I couldn't just figure out what it was! Even with that, every other thing about it I loved! I know that's odd, but the way I felt about it. BICE was an amazing restaurant and loved my meal overall. Just loved it and the view outside was amazing and made the experience so much better! Hope you get to try it one day!

What a breathtaking view, sorry that something disagreed with you in the cheese, but glad the steak was good. Can’t believe your still going strong after the early start to your day.

Quite the view for dinner and glad I dined out here! Odd about the cheese but the overall meal was great and will certainly return! I can't believe I was still at it being up since 3 am.

Besides the issue with the appetizer, it sounds like a delightful meal. Your meal was just breathtaking! Glad the rain stopped quickly for you too!
The app was the only downside of the meal, but even overall the app was good. It was just the strong taste at times. I know it sounds strange, but that's the way it was with it. BICE was excellent and will definitely return and hope I can get that great view!

Only the strong taste of something in the cheese was a bit unappealing and I'm sure there was something in it not listed on the menu, even though my server said there wasn't. I loved the view and glad I sat out on the deck and hope to do next time! The steak was fantastic, but didn't come cheap!

You definitely picked the right table bc you really had some gorgeous views. Your dinner looked yummy as well, although it stinks that there was that aftertaste to the cheese. I wonder what it could’ve been?
Either way, it sounds like a really nice place to dine.

Still wondering what was in that cheese but it was strong and couldn't figure it out. Either way, it was something I didn't like and bothered me, especially in the morning! The views were great and glad I sat outside and will certainly do it the next time I dine here, which is a guarantee! Dinner was amazing! Service could have been better at the end as I had to wait a while for my check. One of the best at Universal, I'm sure, if not the best, but many I need to try first to support this. I did dine at several during my four days here.

I enjoyed BICE so much and thanks for the recco and from Cheryl too! Only the one small problem with the app is the only negative of the meal! The view outside was amazing on a warm and beautiful night! It will only get better with my next post as you'll see! Should have it up by Thursday!

Wednesday, October 4th (Part IX) Once, I got back to ground level I did more exploring at the Portofino Resort. There was so much to take in here and I haven’t even gone inside the resort, which would come later.
Pool at Portofino Resort, which looks nice all lit up
Located below BICE
I began exploring the piazza, which was lit up so beautifully on a nice warm night, even though a bit humid.
Plenty of outdoor seating and tables on the piazza, which is most welcome to enjoy the views!
Some of the resort rooms overlooking the piazza. I’m sure they don’t come cheap with views like this!
I’m not the only one enjoying it out here!
Italian flag at half-mast due to the massacre in Las Vegas three days ago!
Stairway I took upstairs to BICE earlier
As I have explored the piazza area quite well, I wanted to see the inside of the Portofino Resort, so I headed over there.
The entrance to the lobby
As you can see, it’s equally as beautiful in here!
Bar American at Portofino Resort
I like the inside theming
Quite comfy in here
I thought about spending some time here, but they were closing soon.
I saw quite a bit of the resort in the lobby area and loved the theming inside. I headed back outside to see more of the piazza and relax for a bit before returning to the Royal Pacific for the night.
I went to the Thirsty Fish Bar and ordered a glass of Chianti, which I enjoyed outside taking the views on the piazza before returning to my resort as it was getting late. It was 10:30 pm and I’d been up since 3 am.
After relaxing for a while outside, I began to walk towards the boat dock and return to the Royal Pacific. Of course, I had to get a few more photos. It is just so beautiful outside with the piazza and resort all lit up and one does not get tired of this. I think Universal has outdone Disney in this regard! Disney looks great at night, but not like this. Although, the Yacht and Beach Club resorts look quite beautiful as well with Stormalong Bay lit up.
I love this photo and view and possibly my best of the evening! I’m using it as my wallpaper as well on my PC! It may also be one of the best photos I've ever taken!
I made it to the boat dock and only waited for a few minutes before a boat arrived. I would be taking one boat from the Portofino to City Walk and then transferring there to another boat to the Royal Pacific.
Shortly, I arrived at City Walk and transferred there to the Royal Pacific. There was already a boat waiting, which was convenient.
I arrived back at the Royal Pacific in just a few minutes. It was a long day and 11:15 pm. I can’t believe I made it this long after being up since 3 am.
Inside of Emeril’s Tchoup Restaurant
I walked back from the boat dock and took the elevator upstairs to the lobby and then downstairs to the second floor and walked back to my room. First, I wanted some photos of my hallway.
I like the colorful carpeting
My room
Once, I returned to my room I got ready for tomorrow and crashed for the night as I was quite tired after such a long, exhausting and action packed day with so many thrills!
NEXT: Welcome to Sim City!

Portofino Bay looks stunning! I can't believe how well you made it through this very long day.
Portofino Bay is quite amazing and comes alive at night to say the least! It was a long one and I'm the one most amazed! I will certainly be sleeping well tonight!
