As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Sorry to hear about Scott. My DH had the same surgery on his shoulder (labrum) and he is still having problems. I have been trying to get him to go back to the doctor, but he knows they will probably tell him he need another surgery and he doesn't want to do it again. He said the shoulder surgery was worse than his back surgery.
Sounded like a great day relaxing around the pool and enjoying the SUN!!!
Yak & Yeti looks really good. We had an ADR one trip, but had to cancel because I got sick and didn't feel like going to AK just to go eat. Hopefully we can make it on the next trip!
Glad Emily got to spend some time with Bree.
Relaxing by a pool with warm sunshine sounds lovely, especially since we're supposed to get snow tonight and all my joints are aching. I the pot stickers at Y&Y.
As to Photobucket, I got the same message, so I've begun deleting photos that I don't really need stored there. I have an external hard drive now that automatically backs up all my pictures, so I don't need to keep them at Photobucket. I just need the resizing and ability to post them to the website.
for Scott! Hope the surgery and recovery both go smoothly.
Sorry to hear Scott needs more surgery on his shoulder! I had shoulder surgery a couple of years ago and it was so much more painful than I thought it would be! Mine seems to have done the job, though, so I'm fortunate. Poor Scott!
How nice for Emily to have a pal to hang out with for the day. And nice for you, too. Is Bree blowing a kiss to the dinosaur in the ride photo?
Thanks - we will get through like we do everything else! He did say that the first one was worse than his thyroid surgery, so this one will probably be worse
That was a great day - and Yes, Bree is blowing the dinosaur a kiss!

What a fun day! Glad you were able to relax and the girls got their pool time. Dinner looked yummy! I loved Yak & Yeti! But my family not so much so I won't be able to eat there anytime soon.
Thanks - it was a nice relaxing day!

Good luck to Scott on the shoulder surgery and recovery.
I use smugmug.com for photos. It's $40 per year, but you get unlimited photo storage and updates. There are also coupons out there for 20% off your first year.
Thanks!! I will check out smug mug

As far as Photobucket goes, I just suck it up and pay for the storage - I think it's about $30 ish each year. I know it's not that much and it's the only way I could do it.
Thanks! I will check smug mug - but will probably just do that with photobucket as I already know it and have it down now.

As far as photo bucket - I've been using it too. I've been fooling around with it and that is the main delay on my TR right now (as well as other personal/home things that you already know). But anyway, I realized that since I have my pics in my computer (and I save the memory cards too), I don't need to keep them on photo bucket. So I "cleaned house" so to speak. That still wasn't working right - so I ended up making an entirely different account using a second email address (that I already had but don't really use much). I put all our 2013 pics on it and when I'm done with my TR, I will delete those and make room for 2014! I only had 850 or so pics from last year. I'm sure this year will be oodles more because of our cruise. Anyway, in short - no, I didn't buy into that hooey of more storage.
Sorry to ramble but I hope that helps.
Thanks!!! Hugs to you Just be careful if you delete, because if it is linked to your TR for instance, it will delete them from the TR.

As for photos I use Flickr. You get 1 terabyte of storage for FREE. Plus I never have to bother with resizing anything. I've read in a lot of peoples TRs about fighting with photo bucket to resize stuff. I've never done that at all. The only time I have issues with photo size and posting in my TR is when I copy the wrong link. I simply upload my photos from my camera to Flickr and then there is a link when looking at the pictures for "All Sizes". I just copy the link for the size that the boards require and paste it in the little picture box that pops up when you're using the boards. That's it. I've never had a problem.
What a nice relaxing day. Is that a paper straw in your FAB at the pool? I hate those at AK and am staying at AKV. After seeing this I realize that AKV will probably have paper straws too. Boo. I'm glad Scott was able to get his medical issues addressed. And you got alone time too!
Those snacks from Japan do not look appetizing at all. My DH studied Japanese in high school and loves the culture. His sister's best friend is actually from Japan and is always bringing us back snacks to try. She has brought us some weird stuff. Half the time I won't even try it. We always end up spending a lot of time in the Japan pavilion at Epcot and DH always has to try different snacks and I usually pass. We're saving up to actually take a trip to Japan someday and I'm not sure what I'm going to eat when I'm there!
Also I need to stop reading your TRs in the morning. Yesterday I wanted Caramel all day and now today I'm going to want pot stickers and wontons.
Thanks - yes that is a paper straw - I think I ended up ditching it after a few sips! then tend to get soggy
I had the opportunity to visit Japan for almost a month several years ago - the food is amazing - they take such pride in the presentation. There are some strange (to us Americans) things to eat - but it was a fantastic experience!

As you know, I use Photobucket, but only put resized pictures on there, which I think helps with the memory allotment!
Thanks! I did start resizing the photos before uploading so I am hoping that helps!

thanks - yes, this will be his second surgery for it - and hopefully the last . As the doctor told him, you can put it off, but the bottom line is it needs to be done, so let's get it over with.

Thanks! Yes, we have been having the major cold here as well and suppose to get more snow tonight. I will take the Florida heat and sunshine over this any day!

After saying good night to Bree & Gray, we headed up to our room – and we all laid down for a bit, with Scott and Emily getting a quick nap in – about an hour or so – Magic Kingdom was open really, really late tonight………and Emily wanted to see how late we could make it!?!? It was going to be open until 3am!!!
Around 9:30 we headed back out, taking the bus to Magic Kingdom. Of course, getting in was a bit crazy, as it had rained pretty hard again, so the crowds were clearing out as we were coming in ~ and because it was nearing the holiday, they had the back stage area set up, so we were led through that way to avoid the mass on Main Street.
We were surprised to find this old fashioned wagon that they were doing Photopass photos at – so of course, we obliged!
And of course, what did Emily want to do first…………yep ride Space Mountain!
Maybe I should have taken a nap like her and Scott did!
Then we took a night time ride on the People mover – I love seeing everything all lit up at night!
It started pouring rain again – so we took cover till it let up and then headed over to Mad Tea Party for a spin!
Then, we managed to get quite a few rides in as the park seemed almost empty! We rode the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan’s Flight, Haunted Mansion and Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid!
Eric’s castle looks so pretty lit up at night!
As it was nearing midnight, we were getting a bit hungry, so we stopped in Peco Bills for a pulled pork sandwich, that we all shared. Sorry forgot to take a photo!
It seemed that the rain was holding off and it was time for the Main Street Electrical Parade, so we found a spot to view it!
After the parade, Emily wanted to ride Big Thunder Mountain, so off we went for the wildest ride in the wilderness! Actually – we rode twice!! The line was very short at this time!
Scott and I were getting really tired at this point – it was after 1am, Emily was saying she wanted to stay – but we could tell she was tired too – so we started heading toward Main Street, where we got a few more Photopass photos – love those nighttime shots in front of my castle!
Then it was off to the buses, where we each fell asleep on! And good night to all!
Up Next: An Shopping Experience like no other!

I'm so glad you all had a lot of fun at Sea World, especially all of the "extras" that you learned about the Orcas and Dolphins We haven't been there yet, but the girls are asking, so I'm going to have to try and fit it in on one of our next trips! Id does look like a lot of fun.
I noticed that in your meal shots that we were seated in all of the same areas as you when we went in August, too funny! At Akershus we were seated at the table that is behind you in the pic with Cinderella, and then at BOG our table was that first table right in front of the pic you took of the ballroom.
Your pictures from the WAT are just amazing, I loved the ones of the giraffes and then of the hippos enjoying breakfast. Very cool!
An amazing time you are having so far!
PS - I'm sorry to hear about Scott's shoulder, I hope that the surgery corrects the problem this time and that his recovery is quick! Oh, and I had that same issue with Photobucket, my storage is 99% full now. I was going to go in and clean out pictures, but then I realized that if I delete any that are in old TRs it will break the links and I didn't want to do that. I joined Flickr and have been using that for my latest TR, it's pretty simple to use and I haven't had any problems with it so far. They give you LOTS more storage space than Photobucket and it's free as well.
You must have posted this just as I made my previous comments Great night time shots at MK! I love the people mover, and it's even better at night. Everything looks so beautiful all lit up! Too bad you didn't make it all the way until 3 am, but 1 am isn't too shabby You got a lot of rides in that night!

AJ & I would totally be up to enjoy MK till' wee hours. It would only be the two of us though, as the other three aren't night owls. As a matter of fact, they aren't morning people either. I think I have a problem.
Great few hours at MK! Love the photo of Elliot in the parade, he's my favorite and why I like that one so much, although I don't think many kids have seen Pete's Dragon these days
