Meri's Dream Come True - A Birthday Celebration! - PTR updated 02/04/2014 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok the car is cleaned and the trunk is packed with all of our "emergency" supplies for the cold / freezing / icy / snowy weather that we'll likely never see. But better prepared than surprised, right? And it makes mom feel at ease, so it's worth it.
I got my pedicure today (and already screwed up the polish, go figure, but that's ok, I can reapply) and got my hair cut. He cut it shorter in the front than I wanted, but it'll grow, and that's fine. It still looks nicer than it did, which was my goal. Now I just have to color it tonight before bed and I'll be all sorted out.
I also have to pack my suitcase tonight and tomorrow night. I'm so far behind on that... there will be NO sleep for me between now and the trip, I swear. I still need to find a box for the FE stuff. I think I'll do that at work tonight. Ugh.
I think I'm in good shape otherwise! I just need about six hours of free time between now and then... but since I'm not getting that...
So close, so very close. Oh, and for someone who has "misplaced a camera" (on a few occasions), how you looked in your car? Under the sears, glove compartment, in the seats, etc? I know time is short and you are running short on it, but still hoping you find it!
OH MY! This is so exciting!!! Between the texts and facebook stuff I"ve kept up some but nothing like a great PTR to get you ready for a fun vacay!!! First of all.....wow...I should've went with you guys. I ain't doin anything better than working next week and this sounds so much more amazing....(btw got eric thinking about a 3 day again hehehe). I'm so excited for you guys The dream is just gorgeous. I got a completely different view of it but I'm so glad to see it from your guys point of view! I told eric we need to rent Meri for our next trip LOL annnnd I"m impressed with you getting Outlander....seriously you will just love it! Ask Dawn
I think Meri is just going to love the cake and decorations and you win Best mom ever award for real! If I have a child I need all your advice I love the shirts too! I did a nautical color theme and maybe I shouldve went more disney....it seems cuter

Thanks, me too! I've definitely checked the car, and it's not there. I emptied out the entire thing, including the seat organizers in the back seat where Meri keeps all of her stuff. Crazy right?

I'm positively exhausted, and not done yet. Which means tomorrow night is going to be another super late night. Oh well. I'm hoping to nap on vacation a little, so there's that!
My hair is colored and cut, my toes are did, and I've begun packing. I can't finish packing because I need to do laundry first (I sorta forgot that very important thing, duh). Thankfully mom is willing to do my laundry tomorrow, so I can finish packing tomorrow night after work.
I've got all of the FE gifts packed, and all of Meri's birthday gifts packed. I've also got the FE packed in my carry on, with the magnets. There's still so very much to do, but I'm getting there...
Today the surprise nearly got blown TWICE! Once at church, a sweet older lady told me, "Enjoy your cruise!" She didn't know that it was a secret, and thankfully, Meri was not paying attention in the least! The second time was at a Super Bowl party, I made a comment to a friend about charging my phone and said something about being able to charge it on deck. Again, Meri wasn't listening, thankfully. I need to just stop speaking for the next 3 days, lol! Laurie and Heather, you're going to probably have to smack me a few times if I slip!! HA!
Alisha brought me the pillowcase tonight... here it is:
I asked her to keep it to a medium size, to leave plenty of room for the characters to sign around it. It's now folded up in a ziploc with some sharpies, ready to be handed in to Guest Services first thing on Thursday, when we board!
I'm so ready to go... but I have two more days of work, plus a shift at the bbq place still to go. Plus I have to pack the rest of my stuff. I'm going to be so tired!
In good news, my friend brought me her camera and her flip (a little digital video recorder), so tomorrow I'll bring them to work and fiddle with them to get accustomed to both.
Love the pillowcase, it's absolutely beautiful. Thank goodness the secret is still intact - with keeping it these last couple of days and hope you get everything done before you head out.
It's been driving me crazy not being able to keep up with this report while I was without internet. It's going to take me months to play catch-up with everyone's TRs. I thing the pillowcase is just perfect and can't wait to see it with signatures. I'm so excited that you're leaving tomorrow night and I'll see you Thursday morning!!!
