Goin' Down the Bayou ~ The TR (November 1-10, 2012) - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Of all the things to think of that Mickey could be doing...that?? No surprise it was a man there. I swear, men never lose their sense of potty humor, but most at least know when to cut it. Good grief!
Love Kaeli's ears! Dana and I spent a good amount of time looking at all the new fancy ears...I just loved them! the HM ones, are not one I saw though. Cute!
Sounds like you all did fine without a break, we do that on a couple days on our family trips, but most afternoons make it back.
I now appreciate the photos you've posted of the resort, bc while talking about our next trip the other night I received a request from DH. For a Royal Room! Yes, from DH! Looks like our planned POFQ might turn into PORS. We'll have to see about prices when the time comes.

And late night swims are the BEST!!! Especially when Mom & Dad can enjoy some "adult" time!!!
It really was a great night! The girls enjoyed their swim, while Mommy and Daddy enjoyed our "grown up" drinks! We even got to see some of the higher fireworks from Illuminations from the pool area

I was so worried aobut not taking a break, especially since this was our second early day in a row, but thankfully it wasn't a problem We certainly weren't having luck with our parade viewing neighbors this trip though!

Your DH cracked me up in the SM pic. Poor Abby she looked so upset on Splash!
That guy certainly was interesting, to say the least! I wasn't about to let him ruin the parade for us, we still had a great time
Abby does look upset in that pic, doesn't she? She was all smiles and laughs when we got to the bottom of the hill, don't worry! She especially loved that I was the one who took the brunt of the splashing water

I don't know how he does that, I'm always screaming like a loon down that drop

I love night time swims they just seem so much cooler (like Fonzie cool, not temp cool) than daytime swims.
You're right, those night time swims are pretty cool, there's just a different feel around the pool when it's dark out

That guy was a little wacky, but we still enjoyed the parade, ignoring him as best as we could

Great day! Can't wait to hear more!
That's exactly what I thought. Of all the reasons you could have given for Mickey to be late, that's what you went with??
I love all of the new ears they have out now, some of them are really pretty!
How funny that it was your DH who suggested a Royal Room, I think that would be awesome if you could stay in one! They really had the right idea when they designed them, just enough princess stuff without looking overly girly. When are you planning your family trip?

I love the HM ears! What a fun day, despite the weirdo in the parade. I don't understand how people like that don't understand that not everyone wants to hear everything that comes into their head! It looks like a fun time at Crystal Palace.

Exactly, some things are best left unsaid!

That picture cracks me up every time I see it, Melissa! Abby and I are screaming our heads off, Chris is Mr. Calm and Kaeli looks like she is having the time of her life. Then I notice the guy behind Abby, he looks like he's sleeping

After a couple of early mornings, we decided to take things slow this morning. I was up at 7:30 though, but just lay in bed playing on my phone while I waited for the rest of my group to wake. We showered and dressed, then grabbed a quick bite of cereal before leaving the room around 10 am for Epcot. Everyone else must have had the same idea today , it seemed quite crowded as we reached the front gates. Our first stop was the camera shop, I needed to get a new memory card for the camera I had brought for the girls, as we realized it didn’t have one. As we left the shop a woman approached us to take a survey. Sure, why not! It was quick and painless, though I have no idea what it was about. Clearly, I need to take better notes!
We then did a little browsing in Mousegears, but left without any purchases. Abby was practically begging to try some sodas at Club Cool, so we headed in that direction. The girls of course tried to trick me into trying some Beverly, but I was on to their little game.
We were a bit early, but we decided to head over to the Coral Reef for our lunch, and this is when I realized how crowded Future World was this day. As we came around the corner, we noticed a huge line out in front of Nemo. They had ropes set up, and the line was full, zig zagging in front of the sign. I’ve never seen Nemo have any sort of line this time of year before , so it was just crazy that it had about an hours wait right now.
We checked in early, and were told that we wouldn’t be seated until closer to our original ADR time, so we grabbed a seat and settled in to wait.
Duffy had to make a quick phone call while we waited.
About 5 minutes later, though, we were being called to our table. I had completely forgotten about requesting a table down on the lower tier when I checked in , and the table we were seated at was along the rail of the top tier. I was going to ask to be moved, but first I asked Kaeli what she wanted to do, since this was one of her restaurant picks. She decided that we were fine up on the top level, and really it was fine. You still get a clear view of the tank, it really wasn’t a bad spot at all.
You’ll have to forgive me, but I didn’t do a good job with food pictures this trip at all. The girls both had the kids pizza and I went with the Grilled Mahi Mahi with Laughing Bird Shrimp, Hearts of Palm, Jasmine Rice, Cilantro, and a Coconut-Lime Sauce. I’m pretty sure Chris had the Coral Reef Lobster Orecchiette Pasta with White Cheddar and Basil Oil. Everything was just delicious. That added with the atmosphere of the restaurant, watching the fish swim by as you ate, made this a great lunch. I was really glad that Kaeli had chosen it, as it had been off my radar for quite some time. Chris and I had eaten here way back in 2001 and didn’t have such a great experience, so I think I had completely written it off because of that.
Here’s the one lone food pic I got at lunch today, my dessert, the Chocolate Wave. Yummo!
We settled our bill and made a pit stop at the restrooms before heading over to the Land to check on Soarin. The wait was much longer than we wanted to wait, and the FP return time was already at 8-9pm and I wasn’t sure that we’d still be in the park at that time, so we passed for now and decided to head towards the WS. On our way in, we stopped to take a look at the cranberry bog set up for F&WF and then over to sign up for a mission with Agent P. Our first mission would be in Mexico, so we headed off to the left to try and stop the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz from taking over the Tri State Area.
I wonder why Epcot was so crowded on that day? I know it was Food and Wine, but on a Monday things aren't usually so busy. Good idea to go with an Agent P mission!
Finally gettin back on the boards and findin all these TR's that I have missed. I am now caught up on yours!!! Coral Reef is a must do for us! Love it!!!

I'm glad you had a great meal at Coral Reef - we've eaten there twice now and haven't been impressed, so I'm pleased to know others have had better experiences than us.
