Patience, My Young Padawan PTR - UPDATED 5/25 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok - I think I'm going to make a 'test' shirt and see how it comes out. that way, I won't feel horrible if I do all the design work for the SW ones and I mess up. I'll let you know how it turns out!
I'm sure it will go great, but here's some pixie dust for you.
Ack! We are 25 days out from our trip!! This has really snuck up on us, even though it feels like we've been waiting forever. Now I'm wishing I had just a bit more time to prepare...
I'm behind in catching up on everyone's TRs and behind on updating this one. We've just had one thing after another happening around here but I am just sure things are going to slow down very soon so we can catch our breath.
I am so mad at myself; I had the most perfect idea for the girls' Easter eggs AFTER the fact... The brilliant idea came to me the evening of Easter Sunday that I should have bought them some extra trading pins and hidden them in their eggs. They definitely would have appreciated that more than candy. Oh well - maybe a good idea for next year...
We have been in a Star Wars movie mania; two films left to watch and I am really getting in the mood!!
WHAT WE HAVE LEFT TO DO:
~ Clothes for Cory and I. Kelley is all set but Corinne and I have run into the problem of not finding clothes that fit us or look good this year. We have been on no less than 7 shopping trips and so far Cory only has 3 pairs of shorts! Her problem: if they fit at the waist, they won't pull up over her, umm, derriere! And she is desperate for shoes! She's in that in-between size stage where one size is just too small and the next is too large. We are heading out again tomorrow...
~ Star Wars t-shirts. Even though I thought about making some shirts, I've been pouring over all the sites that sell them and we found ones that we all really love. A dear PPer friend, who just happened to be down at WDW this week, was able to pick up a shirt that I just had to have - I hope it fits! If not, I can always exchange it when we get there. I need to get everyone else's ordered...
~ Order the VitaMotion-S spray for Kevin...
~ Pick up some heavier rain ponchos than our regular 99cent variety...
~ Get Duncan healed up before boarding! He has been combating some type of allergic reaction this spring; and we've been working with him for almost a month now. His front paws will get red and itchy and he chews at them; we treat them and just as they start getting better, he's back to chewing again.
~ Finish my touring plans, Mousekeeping envelopes, CM Appreciation cards...
~ Still looking for that perfect bag. At this point, I may end up just carrying the Baggallini once again...
That it it for now. We (and Duncan) would appreciate any pixies you'd care to send.

for you and for Duncan. I used to have a dog with grass allergies that would torture him every spring. He had to be on meds for several months or he'd bite and chew himself raw. I hope you can find something that works for Duncan!
Sending tons of for Duncan...sorry that he is suffering this allergy season
I can't believe your trip is down to 25 days, hope that the shopping proves sucessful soon. I really wish the kids would just stop growning long enough to make it though a season. Yesterday we took the summer clothes out and not one pair of shorts fit Angel. I guess I was lucky as she stayed little for so long (I think we went three summers and everything fit - just added some new stuff to change things up a bit), now between last year and this year she is just growing like a weed, guess her body decided to finally catch up to the rest of her friends...lol
Try bitter apple or bitter orange spray - worked like a charm on my dog when she was chewing at a bandage. A chew collar (cone of shame) works too but thye sure do hate it. Good luck finding shorts
Thanks for all the pixies for Duncan - he certainly can use them.
I've been contemplating getting a 'cone of shame' for him - but now that you've reminded me about the bitter apple spray, I may try that first.

Oh, I know what you mean! We had been so lucky for years; Kelley would simply pass down her old clothing each season to Corinne. That meant I only had to buy for one girl (with a few things for Cory to make her feel better.) Now that they've reached the same height, that no longer happens.
We were able to find one new top for Cory today. She's also decided to wear more dresses this year since shorts are so hard to fit.
And one more bit of planning news that doesn't seem to be working out as planned...
I wanted to at least have a base tan before we left for vacation, so the fierce Florida sun wasn't as harmful for me. At first I was thinking tanning salon, but then I decided to do it the old-school way...I bought a new lounge chair for the deck and some good old tanning oil which was less expensive than tanning sessions.
But wouldn't you know it - this crazy weather we've been experiencing is putting a damper on my plans! If it doesn't stop raining soon, we may be floating down to WDW!
