Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

OMG!!! I hadn't even thought of that. That must be so hard for her. I LOVE the spinach & artichoke dip!

I haven't been to any restaurants at DHS except Sci Fi. DHS is our least fav park so we usually do half a day and only need one meal. Actually I might skip DHS if it werent for SciFi! LOL
I don't know how good it is, I guess no worse than any other QS place, but Pizza Planet is a place your kids might enjoy, if they like Toy Story. I have heard that it is set up like the Pizza Planet in the movie and there are arcade games and such. I did pop in last trip to use the bathroom, and it looked pretty cool.
I don't see a problem with not getting to your room until after dinner. I would want to make the most of my day as well!
It's getting closer for you, I am so pysched!!!
No worries about the name spelling--If that concerned me I would be forced to be much more careful myself!

As far as DDs milk allergy--its not so difficult for her, as she does not know what she is missing. When she has been "poisoned" it tastes gross to her. She knows within seconds she cannot eat it, and then the "pives" start (Her word for "hives" from when she was younger, and it is our cute way of naming what is going on for her). BUT it is hard for us and the other kids. Now that she is getting older, I do not allow the big kids to have a treat somewhere if there is nothing for her--they do not have to be dairy free, but they cannot eat a cookie if we cannot find a safe cookie-type option for her.

About DHS-My DD(8) is really into art and engineering--he plans to be an Imagineer! I think he will get a kick out of the animation academy!

I was actually thinking that very same thing, when I posted it. About her not knowing what she is missing. I didn't know if that was the case or not though, so I didn't write it. Thank goodness she is so aware, and wtg for you parents! I don't blame you for the need a substitute for the youngest take.
That is so great that your DS wants to be an Imagineer! I don't blame you for going to DHS for that reason. What a career goal, I love it!

Sounds like a great days for #2 and 3, I love your line of "avoid the parades"! LOL I do the same thing! Have to say though, not so sure about bed by 10, the epcot night. By the time Illuminations is over, you catch the bus, get to the resort, and walk to your room....

You must have forgot that we are Staying at the Beach Club, which is about a 5 minute walk from Epcot! This is one of the reasons we are visiting Epcot 3 times, and think we can squeeze in time for the pool at the resort on Epcot days! I cannot wait to experience BC!

Great plans! On your first day, I'd head out to Hurricane Hanna's and eat there before you jump on the boat to DHS!

I was wondering what would be the most efficient use of our time. Could we get food there and then eat it while we wait/ride the boat?

What is the proximity of the BC lobby to Hurricane Hanna's to the boat launch?

Thanks for your feedback!

Not Stupid at all. WHy would you be expected to keep track of where everyone is staying at you read through PTR plans?

I know that, even with being so close, it will still be tough to actually get to bed by 10! But I can dream!

I am so thrilled about staying at the BC--I feel so lucky to have gotten the 40% discount and for there to have been rooms available during the value season. It is still pushing our budget, but I think the resort will help our vacation be the re-energizing trip we need!

Hahaha! I guess thats true, huh? Well I won't forget now! LOL
Well you can get to bed as close to 10 as you can. Of course you can dream, that is what WDW is all about!
After the time you had with your last trip, I do think this will be a great way to start your vaca! From what I have seen, it looks like the mod and dlx. resorts have this relaxing peacful vibe to them, compared to the values. The value are fun, but very busy and bright!
Thank goodness for discounts I love them!

Shelly your plans look great. I would probably pick up a quick snack at the resort before heading over to DHS. I also think that taking a cab to Chef Mickey's for your early breakast is a great call. We have done that in the past, just not stressing before an early breakfast about buses and connecting to other resorts really starts off our day on a positive one.

We have only been once, at a mod, but the "busy" pace of the values seem like it would lead to sensory overload...Fun is for the parks!

We took a cab to our last ADR at CG--it was a million times better than trying to make the connections (as we had to do for the luau!). Its all about setting ourselves up for success!

We do the SAME thing in our house If there isn't a safe option for Patrick, we don't get something for Nolan. He's 5, and pretty much understands - except he doesn't get why Dairy Queen can't make a dairy free ice cream for his brother. I'm pretty lucky that Patrick loves Oreos, and they travel well, so I always keep some in my diaper bag for him.

Day 1:
· Arrive MCO at 1:10 pm
· Take DME to BC to check in
· Leave our checked bags with concierge
· Take boat to DHS (We should have about 3 hours at DHS before it closes)
· Note: we will try to do this without a stroller for our DD (3.5). We have a small sit and stand, but think it will be too bulky to move through the park and the speed we will need this day. She is a great walked with good stamina, and hope she can manage for this short amount of time.
· TSMM!
· Return to BC for 7:15 dinner ADR at Cape May Clam Bake

*Questions/feedback wanted: What to do about food for lunch? Thoughts on not getting to our room until after dinner…

Your day sounds so much like our first day! We're staying at the Contemporary (same pin code deal you seemed to have). We should be getting there (depending on traffic - around 1p.m., after checking in and getting a quick snack, we're going to head to DHS. We have 4:10 reservations at the Sci-Fi Dine In - the boys are so excited! Nolan already has his meal planned out Because it is a shorter day, I'm wondering if we could get away with just the double stroller for the two younger ones - skipping the stroller for the oldest. After all, he's going to have energy to burn after being cooped up in the car on the way down.

Depending on what time we get to our resort, and how restless the older two are, we will either grab a snack at our hotel, or head directly to DHS.

I don't believe they will allow you on the boat with food. There are tables right outside of Hurricane Hanna's, or we've brought our food down to the edge of Crescent Lake where there are beach chairs (no swimming in the lake). If you're in the lobby, go out the main back doors, hook a right when you get to the walkway that goes around the lake, and Hurricane Hanna's is right down on the right side. The boat dock is just a bit further down, on the left side.
