Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wow, you have been a busy young lady with all your planning. Matt and I never got an actual honeymoon because we had so little money when we got married. Glad everything is coming together for you girl. Here are some for some extra unknown deductions!
I hope you get all that money back and more!! I like the song for the Father/Daughter dance! Great choice!!
Thanks! I still like Butterfly Kisses though! I can't decide! so many choices!

Well we've made it through January having used all my remaining money in my last check for the photog 2nd payment and all the money from this one for my Masters classes... We're still thriving so I think cutting corners for a few more months is very feasible! Hopefully.... lol!

awww... im so glad you and matt have trips to WDW now! i think its so romantic there! tho we didnt chose it as a honeymoon cause we thought honeymoon should be someplace we've never vacationed before! how long have you been together? many couples do a second honeymooon for a milestone year! maybe DLR Paris is in your future! lol!
Everything is good....i've been sick for the past week but things are better today! I AM planning and buying and planning!!! We got our boarding documents yesterday and we are 28 days away!!!! wooooo hoooooo...I will do a PTR/TR.....when should i start???? i dont want to start to awful early....let me know what you think! I did finally buy a new phone FYI...i got the samsung alias....love it!! its a little less bulky than the Env2 and it still has the qwerty keyboard for texting....on the downside i lost every stinkin one of my disney ringtones and myxer wont let me redownload because verizon wont let them....
I just found this thread and got all caught up...I Loved Planning my Wedding!!!! We were married 9/22/2007 and I can tell you that the right Photographer is worth every penny ( although they really do have a monopoly going lol ) I do not know if this would be in your Genre of music but I danced to "I loved her first" by Heartland with my Pops (he actually teared up not that the big MACHO Italian man will admit it) We went to Bermuda on a cruise for our Honeymoon but that Sandals is Gorgeous (maybe we will have to check it out for a future anniversary) The one thing that we did but I do not know if it is too late for you is we made arrangements with our travel agent to register our Honeymoon as our wedding Gift This allowed people to call up and make payments on the honeymoon for us instead of a bridal shower gift or a wedding gift. The TA kept a list of who and how much so we could send thank you cards. We included this option in the Wedding invitations and the Bridal shower invites instead of registering for stuff we didn't need (we lived together before we were married so we already had towels and china lol) My husband also sold tickets to his Bachelor party (25$ each) and made $2000 which made our final Photographer payment. I hope these ideas help out
I LOVE butterfly kisses! The first time I heard it I knew I was going to dance with my dad to it at my wedding...that was years and years ago, but I'm sticking with it.
Just remember each moment of your father-daughter dance as that must be one of the most memorable dances in your life. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky. My dad passed away in 1997, 4 yrs before I got married. So I will always be without my father, daughter dance.
When we were talking about it last week my dad was like "I thought you wanted Butterfly Kisses" and he said it in a way that I think he wants it to. I am leaning towards it. I have to say, even though I have an older sister I was always a Daddy's Girl so we have a very different relationship and I felt like I could tell he wanted it too.

Glad you are feeling better!
Your cruise is sooo close! That is so exciting! Start your PTR NOW!!! lol! Then send me a link so I don't miss it! I am in need of a good PTR/TR to be reading but dont have the time to go through and read through all the forum sections. Glad you got your new phone before your trip so you can text me if there are any surprises that would require letting me know early . I think I know what the alias is-- it looks like a regular flip phone but flips open the other way where the keyboard is, right? and... oddly enough Myxer only denies certain PHONES.... my mom has a Voyager and my sister a Chocolate and they can still get the tones so I just have them download what I want and forward it to me! just fyi in case Eric has a phone that it will work for.

Thanks for the tips! Rob and I have discussed the idea of a honeymoon registry only our final payment is due on June 1st and I dont think my shower will be that early. My mom says they should be 6 weeks before the wedding (shes crazy sometimes) and I dont want our fabulous TA to do work then have no one call. I think one of the ways that we are going to save money is the way we go out for our bachellor/bachellorette party... I think I want to have an old fashioned sleepover... like with all my girlfriends and stuff from high school and rent movies and where green clay masks, and paint our nails and stuff... lol. i havent decided exactly yet. but im not a drinker really so it would save a few bucks and be more fun! lol!

Also, thanks for the link!
I ALWAYS used to say that growing up too! I remember when I first heard that and me and my sister argued over who would get to use it! lol! Im really leaning towards it these days.

I think losing a parent is such a profound part of someone's life, no matter what age or stage you are at and I feel the deepest sympathy for people who've lost parents as well as a enormous luckiness for having been able to spend so much time with my wonderful and loving family. I do feel truely blessed to have the opportunity. and even though your wedding day was probably bittersweet at moments because you missed your father, i think that he was surely there.
I know he was there. What we did to recognize him was first of all his boutonniere was put into my mom's corsage and when it came time for the father-daughter dance, I had them play our song and made EVERYONE stay OFF the dance floor. But I did dance with my son during our wedding and my DH danced with our daughter so it equaled out perfectly enough.

I think its really sweet when people have children before they are married and dance with them. At Rob's sisters wedding she danced with her boys and it was such a nice moment. The boutonniere was a nice idea. Ive seen people put picture frames on their bouquets but that idea of putting it in the corsage was really original and sweet.
