As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Monday 18 February – part six: Mickey speaking Chinese?
The show started off exactly the same as it does on the cruise, apart from Mickey and Minnie speaking in Cantonese of course. That was a bit of a surreal experience! All the songs were performed in English however – it was just the speaking bits in between the acts. About halfway thought, it changed totally though, with new sections from the Little Mermaid thrown in for good measure. It was nice to see that it wasn’t a carbon copy of what appears on the Cruise Line.

When we came out, we saw where work is underway on the latest addition to the park – It’s a Small World. Mark seemed very relieved that it wasn’t open yet, for some odd reason…
We headed towards the final of the four lands – Tomorrowland and again, we were in luck. Stitch Encounter, which is a new additional to the park, apparently does shows in Cantonese and English throughout the day and this was a two hour segment where they were doing English, so in we went. We had about a 15 minute wait, the longest so far today, but it was worth it. This is another interactive attraction, along the lines of Turtle Talk with Crush and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, but I loved it and probably preferred it to all the others, because the central character Stitch was as much fan as you’d expect. During the course of it, we found a fellow escapee from space prison, a new girlfriend for Stitch (I couldn’t help but think of Melissa at that point! ) and discovered a new planet. It was a lot of fun and it’s something I’d love to see come to other parks – fortunately, it seems that it is due soon in Disneyland Paris, but I think Walt Disney World probably has its fill of those attractions right now, which is a shame.
We walked through Tomorrowland and the theming is very different to that land in any of the other Disney parks, but still very nice. It’s still a little sparse on attractions, with lots of room for more in the future I would guess.
Our next stop was Buzz Lightyear and here you can actually take the guns out and wave them around, rather than just moving them in their set positions. This, coupled with the fact that the targets light up when you hit, helped me to get a really good score (oh and I guess the fact that the ride stopped at one point and Mark clocked up a lot for me didn’t hurt either!) This was a lot of fun and much better than its Walt Disney World counterpart.
Just catching up Cheryl, what a great day you are having. My commiserations to Mark on IASW not being open yet! Buzz is the same as the one at DLP, how great!
How funny, Melissa immediately popped into my mind, too, when I read "girlfriend for Stitch" Does this mean we both spend too much time on the boards??? Naah, there's no such thing.
Glad you enjoyed the Golden Mickey's (I was wondering if it would be similar to the cruise one) and had fun on Buzz More great pictures!! What a shame IASW was down
Taking another Sunday to catch on your report and Stefanie even joined me today. The night time photos from the Peak were simply awesome and the food at Bubba Gump's looked very, very . I have been anxiously awaiting your trip to Disneyland Hong Kong. The train was truly exceptional -- Disney knows how to do the job right. Stefanie had a blast looking through the variations on WDW and DL at the Hong Kong site. That Jungle Cruise did look like so much fun! When we saw the pictures of the Golden Mickeys, she really wanted to go on a cruise again. so much for sharing as I feel I've had Disney experience today when our trip is still 83 days away!

Monday 18 February part seven: a beautiful Oriental Disney parade
We finished in Tomorrowland and I got a Mickey Bar as we walked the wrapper was a bit different than you might be used to!
We headed back into Main Street, where we realised that the parade would be arriving in about 10 minutes, so we settled down to wait. Maybe we should forget our Times Guide more often. It seemed to bring us a lot of luck today.
As we sat there, I had a lovely elderly couple turn up who managed to hit me in the face with their bag. They didnt really hurt me, but lets just say I made the point in no uncertain terms about what they had done and they apologised. Something I guess.
We had great spots for the parade and Im very glad that we stopped to watch it. This was superb and although it combined your usual elements of Disney parades, big floats and dancers, it had a lovely Oriental theme to it. The costumes were so bright and colourful and it was a great sight for the eyes.
I love this picture of the sassy flower. Great parade. I would have kept the mickey bar wrapper I'm nerdy like that. Thanks for taking me to Hong Kong with you.
Serenity and I are loving all the great pictures. Since her favorite character is Mulan, I was wondering if you saw her at all? Since she is a Chinese heroine I was hoping she would have a big presence at HKDL.
