The way We do a Disney Re-Do ~~ Beach club Aug 13-22 - FINISHED!!! 1/20 - Page 14 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Shelly, I've been blessed as a baby whisperer, lol, I think since I'm such a kid at heart I hear kids. I can understand what kids are saying that have speech impediments and even babies, you know their coos etc are sometimes words. I met my great neice in the spring and as soon as my niece walked in she said her name, I heard it clearly but no one else did. I think that is why I get along with kids so well. Anyway, I so get Hannah's reaction and I love that you are in tune with her, that has to make it easier for her. Their reactions have meaning to them and I guess the key is to figure out their interpretation. It is so comforting when you do I'm sure!

I'm for one glad you forgot your USB at work because it gives me a chance to try and catch up!
I think I am going to absolutely love Hannah's reactions to things around her - these kids are often very insightful We ate at Coral Reef last year and loved it - it is a noisy restaurant though. I wonder why that is? The set up maybe? Hmmm...
Looking forward to your next update - hopefully I'll have a chance to pop on here and read it in a timely manner!

I think it will be one I can prepare her for next time. We will just need to "ride" on YouTube numerous times!
Her reaction after the ride… She LOVED it! In fact, she loved it so much she wanted to try the “orange” team! They would have went back in line right then, but I played the downer. Delaney was sleeping in the stroller. I was feeling awful. We have had a long day (for us!) and the kids had been crabby and bickering before this ride. We were hot and sweaty.
It was just after 7pm. We wanted to make it to Illuminations, but we were not sure if we could make it until 9:00 --we knew it would not happen if we did not go back “home” to change and relax a bit. We promised Hannah she could try the orange team another day and we bribed the kids with the idea of swimming in order to get everyone on board with leaving now.
As we were walking back along the path from Epcot to the BC, our son pointed out a path off to the right which looked like it just may take us to our resort. He wanted to try it. DH was pretty sure it would not work, so he decided to push the stroller with the girls back to the main entrance while me and the boy explored the path.
Ben and I were THRILLED to realize, seconds after turning in the gate, we were at the BC quiet pool and could see our patio door! By the time DH came in our room with the girls, Ben and I were already in our swim suits and kicking back on the bed watching TV. (Ok—so we rushed like crazy to make that happen, but we were trying to make the point of how fast we got to the room! )
About 10 minutes later, we were all in our suits and walking out our patio door to the quiet pool. Compared to the water in SAB, this water was very cool. But we were so dang hot and that the water felt amazingly refreshing! After about 30 minutes in the pool, we all agreed that we could make it to Epcot for illuminations.
We returned to our room (by stepping over a hedge and opening the patio door). Our room location could not have been more perfect for us!!! Although we got a “free upgrade,” it would have been worth a little more $ in exchange for that convenience!
We chilled on our beds, and had a snack. About 8:40, we left our room and headed towards Epcot.
We were entering the WS gates about 5 minutes later. We did not want to go too far into WS because we still needed to avoid crowds, and we planned to leave again after illuminations. We found a spot on the bridge, with France to our backs. This is when we found a Photopass photographer to take our picture (see sig pic). Comments have been made that we all look very happy in this photo. It is true—we were happy. We were actually ecstatic at the idea that in less than 90 minutes, we left Epcot, returned to our room, went swimming, changed clothes, had a snack, returned to Epcot, and arrived before Illuminations began. We were also wet-but in this pic it was more from swimming than sweating!
I love the Beach Club!!!!!
We did not have a great view of illuminations. But you cannot have a great view, low crowds and convenient exits. For our family, the latter two are more important than the first. It was a great show!
We left right after illuminations, and were back at the room getting ready for bed 10 minutes later. I am pretty sure we were all sleeping by 10:00.
The next day we would have an “early” wake up call for breakfast ADRs at Chef Mickey. We hoped MK would go as well as Epcot did today. On our last trip, MK represented both the “worst day of [DH’s] life” and our only truly “magical” day at WDW.
So glad she loved MS. I think we just may give it a whirl this time around. Glad you had another magical day. So happy for you and your family, and again, I love your sig. picture. Can't wait to read about your MK day, I have a good feeling about it.
I love the BC too! It is such a great resort! I'm hoping we'll get to stay there again if we go back next June. We stayed at the Swan in August and will be at the Dolphin for Thanksgiving. They are nice hotels but the walk to Epcot is just not nearly as convenient (it's much further) and that darn boat can be extremely slow, as you mention!
Catching up on your TR - glad to see things are going well thus far! Hope the MK turns out to be a great day!
