As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I just joined about 24 hours ago. This looks like a wonderful time though tiring. I can't wait to hear more about as we (my lil family) call it Your Adventures.
I cannot believe I forgot to check in here before I left - I might have gotten to see you!! Since I forgot, I didn't know where you were at until just now. We went to Yachtsman Steakhouse on the 20th for my birthday.
We did see lots of those little red ribbons during our trip this time.
Sounds like your CP is off to wonderful start. I envy you being able to just pop over to MK during your lunch break. Ah well, if all goes well, then I may follow in your and Gray's footsteps and try for the CP myself in a year or so.
It's an amazing experience so I hope you get the chance!

Have a great weekend off!
Sounds like you're jumping right into the magic!
It isn't something that will be happening often, I get an hour lunch at Y&B and by the time I change and get to a park it would be time to go back and change again.

Thanks, there's bits of magic everywhere even if I don't get to MK

I went to the gym at my apartment once so far, it's kind of tiny compared to the ones at school. Most of my exercise has been from walking around the parks!

Thanks Maci - we did and we LOVE the YC so it was fun to visit
I love reading your posts and it just seems to me that like Gray, you were born for Disney.
Hope things are going well for you.
I'm glad you loved it! And thank you Things are going great!
Whew, finally my day off. I'm almost done with training. Tomorrow I train as a runner (which means today I get to go get another pair of Disney approved shoes) and then Monday is my final day of front desk training!
I know it's been a while since I caught up with everyone so let me see what I can remember and fill you in.
My 3 day weekend was lovely. My dad and little brother drove up for the day and we went to the Studios.
That's me and the little bro. He was scared of Woody and Buzz though We spent most of the day there and had lunch at Sci-Fi which Scotty loved! Then dad bought me my late Christmas present (frames and paint to decorate my walls with) and we went to Ci Ci's for dinner before they had to head back to the other side of the state.
Sunday I went to Typhoon Lagoon and DTD and shopped a little with my coworker. He's from the Netherlands and has been here since August. His program is a little different as he used to work restaurants at Wilderness Lodge and is now switching to front desk, but that's how his year here is set up. It's so neat that I get to make friends from EVERYWHERE here.
Some other things that happened last weekend... I rode the first seat of Space Mountian for the first time. SCARY! I also saw some shows at the Studios for the first time with the little bro. I also saw the 3 o'clock parade for the first time!
Monday was back to training. My first day actually on the desk! My first check-in... was put into the computer wrong and took a lot of people a long time to find. Awesome. It was honestly the weirdest day. Any uncommon problem a guest could have, came up. But I also got to make some magic for a family which was super cool! Tuesday was a more normal training day. I also got to see all of our room catagories somewhere in there. I forget which day it was by oh my goodness we have some amazing rooms at the Beach Club! I didn't get to see the Yacht Club side but they are very similar aside from the theming.
Wednesday was my DVC class. It was a shorter day which was nice but oh my gosh was the class boring! There was nothing they told me there that my trainer couldn't have easily covered in about an hour. But then I started feeling really sick after that so I was very thankful for a day in the classroom instead of at the desk.
Thursday and Friday were more days of me on the desk with my trainer keeping a watchful eye. She says I'm doing great and has been telling me I'm ready already I really have the best trainer ever so I'm really lucky! A highlight was a guest coming back to the front desk after she checked in to tell me how beautiful and wonderful her room was! I don't think she knows how much that made my day My day off today will be spent doing laundry and hunting for shoes. Then hopefully I'll have time to hit up World of Disney/Downtown Disney again for some more shopping before my holiday discount is over! I saw this really awesome stuffed Lightening McQueen I wanna get for my little brother
I went to Epcot with one of my roomies after work one night. We went to dinner in Japan, yummy! I love low season just for the fact we can walk up to a full-service restaurant and get a table
My mommy sent me an Edible Arrangement today It's a cute little Valentine's themed one. I love her
This all sounds just fantastic! Kind of makes me wish my girls were old enough to be in college already so they can participate!! Almost.... (they're still only 5 and 7 years old! ) I'm glad to hear the guest with the compliment really made your day. So many CM's are underappreciated. I hope all continues to go smoothly!
