As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I just love the pictures of Connor with the characters. His reaction is so precious! He looks so happy. And I'm glad you had great interaction with your blue donkey. We have always enjoyed the Crystal Palace, too. Great update.

Good times! We loved the whole morning. And I specifically remember glancing at the greeter CM's at the door when they caught wind of Mark on the way out- their reactions were really quite funny.
All of the characters were lovely that day- but Tigger still regins supreme in Connor's book- you were spot on about that!
Glad everyone had a great breakfast and you were able to share some special time with Eyeore and Friends. ALl the kids look like they were having a great time, especially Connor...
Sorry you had to say goodbye to Mo and family at that point...but glad that it seems that the crowds were still mightly quiet and that point. Can't wait to hear all about your adventures in AdventureLand...
Sunday 19 October – part three: a favourite ride for Mark
We took advantage immediately and went on the Jungle Cruise, which was pretty much a walk on. We had a great skipper, who even had some new jokes that we hadn’t heard before. We particularly liked some of the wise cracks about Disney, marking up unwanted kids for sale and the reference to rides usually finishing in a gift shop.
From there, it was another walk on to Pirates of the Caribbean.
When we came out, we stopped off to see Captain Hook and Mr. Smee. Mark had fun with Captain Hook, saying “tick, tock” the whole time he was stood next to him.
We carried on walking through Adventureland and into Frontierland and found Donald Duck dressed as Davy Crockett and how cool he looked. We just had to get our photos taken with him.
From there, it was another walk on to the Haunted Mansion. I couldn’t believe our luck so far with the crowds. I knew this was rehabbed before our last visit, but we still saw things that we thought were new to us this time. Funny how you often think that.
Fantasyland was where everyone appeared to be, with Peter Pan’s Flight at 40 minutes wait. Of course, It’s A Small World didn’t have much of a wait, just five minutes, and we were on in less than two minutes, even though Mark tried to persuade me that it was 55 minutes wait to get out of going on it. Nice try, but it didn’t wash with me! : On we went and as you can see from these photos, Mark loved it just as much as usual.
Next we walked around deciding what to do next. We did look at Ariel’s Grotto, simply because we had never done it before and it will stay that way too, with a wait time of 60 minutes to see Ariel. No thanks. Then Mark spotted a much shorter wait for the Fairy Godmother outside the castle. How he saw her from that far away, I will never know, but I’m glad he did, as we were soon with her.
Then it was time for a few silly photo ops:
After a few minutes by the fountain nearby, we went to browse the shops.
I noticed that Fastpasses would be good for the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in 40 minutes, so we grabbed two and got neat surprises, one for Mickey’s PhilharMagic, so that’s where we went next. In truth, they weren’t needed, as it was another walk-in, so we got to keep them, which will be good for the scrapbook.
That done, we still had some time to kill, so it was over to Mickey’s Toontown to see which characters were out, but all they had were the princesses and the wait to see them was 30 minutes. Again, I don’t think so. I guess the limited number of characters was something to do with the imminent arrival of Tinkerbell and friends in a few days time.

Killer update Cheryl! I love Fantasyland--but my DH and Marks reaction to IASW is exactly the same. (Oh, the things the poor dears have to put up with in order to keep their wives happy....) Can't wait to see what the next installment brings...
Great update Cheryl! Mark's face on IASW says it all! That's exactly how I was feeling when we were "trapped" on the boat, in the last room for five minutes waiting to unload!!! Can't wait to read/see more!!!
All caught up again. I absolutely love reading your updates and, of course, looking at the many pictures, Cheryl!!! The ones of baby Connor with the characters are adorable! It's a Small World isn't exactely one of my favorites either so I feel for Mark
Whew! I just got caught up with your report Cheryl! I got a job promotion and I have had no time to read trip reports at work like I used to! Anyway, your trip sounds wonderful and I can't wait to hear more!
