One if By Land - TR by Coop/ChukkerB - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry about the MD, I don't understand how they can talk to people like that. Poor Chuck hopefully he didn't bruise his knee too bad.
Great Togas!! You guys looked great. We just got back and the food wasn't too bad at BOG, but the greystuff was on top of a brownie that was hard as a rock.
We didn't get to meet our host since he had to "check on the kitchen staff" and we were not going to wait in line with 2 crabby two year olds.
Can't wait to hear what's next. Oh and I tried the Zebra Domes at Boma!! Yummy!!

So glad to hear that you're feeling better!!! I love your toga outfits and your headpiece Coop My DH and I weren't all that impressed with BOG for dinner either. I think they serve a better lunch there but I also thought the check-in process for lunch was disorganized. Glad you enjoyed the MNSSHP . Congrats to Chuck on doing so well on his Odd Couple play and getting the part in the Music Man!
The MNSSHP was fun, and we were the only one's wearing togas! I'm not very impressed with BOG,too much hype maybe.
Thanks for all the well wishes for "the Odd Couple" THis weekend we close. It's been a lot of fun, and it made me re-think my being ON stage instead of OFF. It's much easier being an Actor, than being a Stage Manager. Just learn your lines, know your blocking, and let it go!

Right there with you on BOG When we did lunch there last year we thought decor and themeing was great food not so much. Loved see you and your Cleopatra's costumes. Yes on stage is easier Backstage if things go wrong Onstage falls down
Glad you are feeling better, and Chuck's play is going well. Sounds like you could use a string of better luck! Hope Tilley has something easily resolved.
Thanks Sharon!

Thanks Cam. It was really cool at night! That was a first for us!

Great photos from the Party. Sorry you didn't enjoy Be Our Guest more. One thing I am noticing from various reviews is that no-one raves about the grey stuff, which is interesting. Neither of us tried it last time, as it just didn't appeal and I doubt we'll try it this trip either....
THanks Cheryl. I definitely didn't choose wisely at BOG.

At least you're feeling somewhat better, which is the important thing! Congrats to Chuck on his performance in The Odd Couple and his new role in Music Man!
You both look great in your togas. I don't remember any of that entrance nonsense about returning to the bridge or Lumiere at BOG.... it sounds pretty silly!
Thanks Laurie. I am still in the process of finding a new doctor. BOG was definitely interesting.

Your impression of BOG is like ours but did hear they changed chef so we may give it another try some time. Great costumes for MNSSHP
LOL @ Cop/line of duty injury! Thanks Mike!

Sorry about BoG.We didn't have to carry Lumiere when we went and I actually enjoyed the gray stuff but we didn't have the brownie and at lunch we had the chocolate cupcake stuffed with it.
It probably would have been great in a chocolate cupcake. But it was on top of this brownie type thing that was just toooooo hard! And yes, I'm going to find a new doctor and get my blood sugar under control! Right now I'm in a bad eating spiral. I eat bad and that makes me want more bad stuff. I need to break the cycle.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better and Chuck had a great opening night. finding a new doctor. He sounds like the nurses who use to work at my college health center. You could go in there with a broken leg and they would tell you that you had an upper respiratory infection! It was always a struggle to get them to treat you for what you were actually there for!
Thanks. I am still keeping an eye open for a new MD.

Love the toga costumes! Very cool idea! Sorry BOG did not live up to the hype. I guess at least you can say you tried it.
Yeah - at least we did it once.

Bummer BoG didn't live up yo it's hype for you. We have never had a Lemiere with us at seating
Your costumes looked great!!!
I thought the same, Lisa. They didn't find stones on Ultrasound, but I think maybe it was a bit of colic or something. And the Lumiere thing confused me too. But I saw everyone walking in carrying it.

Thanks Mike! Chuck has done both backstage as well as onstage. He loves both.
Sorry I have been MIA recently. I'm not sure exactly why. We have been busy, yes. But nothing but normal life. Chuck finished up "The Odd Couple" and has gone immediately into rehearsals for "The Music Man". I've been working like normal. I did get a little respiratory bug thanks to working mostly in Peds ER - but I haven't had to call off. I've just been resting for the last couple days that I've had off. Seems like a waste of time off, but at least I'm ok to work. Then 2 weeks ago, we planned a surprise 80th birthday party for my DMIL. We made lasagna and brought that, a salad, garlic bread and a cake along with balloons and flowers. Chuck drove up and dropped us out a few houses down and he went in by himself just "to visit". He told her I was working and couldn't come out. So then the kids and I walk up with party in hand and rang the doorbell! Totally got her! It was fun! Now, I'm just kind of in the late winter blahs. Really, I could totally hibernate if I didn't have to worry about bills getting paid. So anyone who is still around, I'm going to try to get this TR going. Maybe it will help the doldrums.
Saturday Nov 1
I slept in to 9 or 9:30 today but Chuck was up earlier and went out and got breakfast and brought it back. It was too cold to sit on the balcony this am. It was only around 60 degrees. (as I type this - I'm longing for this 60 degrees because here it's 14 and snowy with a -4 wind chill!)
After breakfast, we were off to AK one last time.
We rode Primevil Whirl (Chuck loves the fact that he totally blindsided me with this on our last trip). We stopped for lunch at Yak and Yeti.
Then walked both trails. Maharajah Jungle Trek was good but the tigers were hiding and the Pagani was half closed.
After walking a bit, we went looking for the hat that I wanted earlier that was near The Lion King. It was GONE! They totally changed their inventory in less than 1 week!
We said good bye to AK and went back to the room. It was still too cold to go swimming although we probably could have used the hot tub but we didn't think about that. Instead we took a rest and then got ready for dinner.
Off again to DTD for dinner but a little early this time as we were shopping for gifts. Didn't find what we were looking for so we signed in for dinner at Raglan Road. While waiting we did a little looking around their gift shop and found some things for us but not for gifts. We had a wonderful dinner (schnitzel for me and steak for Chuck but we shared) We also had some smoked salmon app and had to save room for the bread pudding for dessert! Chuck and our waiter tried to "get" me by saying there wasn't any bread pudding left! The waiter was pretty cool and went along with the gag. But he was worried because he didn't want my wrath! This was our first time seeing the dancers and the bands. Good times! On our way out, we picked up the couple of things from the gift shop - a cup, a bracelet and a clock - I wanted to get a Claddagh ring but they were only in silver and I want one in gold.
On our way back to the buses, we did finally find one of our items on our list (a Mickey Mouse hand computer mouse). These weren't in D-tech or any of the "tech" areas of World of Disney or anything. We found it at a kiosk!
Back to Kidani and time to crunch some numbers and re-arrange some bags then hit the bed.

Thanks for the update. I think the winter blahs are perfectly understandable, and there are so many cold and flu bugs going around this year - it's annoying!
Glad to hear that you are starting to feel a bit better and heck just be thankful you didn't have winter Boston Had. Now Nurse Betty you know how bad bad eating habits are and what they can do so get on it veggies can be good I tend to love em
