Another August Adventure with a shot of Testosterone...TR Completed 2/19 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think you are converting more Disney fans with the way the boys are loving all the rides, except maybe for iasw. Luke and I keep saying we need to try that Spicy Chicken Waffle, too.
Looks like everyone had a great time and even the older boys in their 20's, who could be hard pressed to admit they like WDW! Everyone had a good time on the rides, lots of goofing around and a great breakfast at the CP with Eeyore!

I love the way the guys are having so much fun and are really getting into everything. I did wonder how they'd be with Disney, since they're probably at the age where some guys would think it's not cool, but they look like they're having an absolute ball!
I had my worries too about the boys, especially in the Magic Kingdom but they were having a ball. Even on rides like Dumbo and the Barnstormer, they just took it all in and had a blast.

The girls were wondering if we would get stuck on the ride as the past three years at least once a trip we have been stuck and have gotten off with the song in our brains for the rest of the trip....no getting stuck this trip, I think the boys might have jumped overboard

I was a little worried about the boys Laurie, I mean they were super excited about the trip but I wondered how they would handle our "Fantasyland" obsession as my girls no matter how old love this area. They just had fun doing whatever we did so it made the trip easy.
The cab....best choice of the trip, just not having to deal with rushing for a bus. So worth it!!!

I am glad to hear the the posted wait times were a little inflated! Makes me feel so much better!
Great pics!
The waits were not bad, well at least not for certain rides. There was no way we were waiting on a 120 minute line for SDMT, was so glad we had FPs. We would have liked to ride it again but it wasn't happening so I was glad we had our one ride. But other rides....definitely doable.

They were definitely not too cool. We joked with Leeor throughout the trip about his first ride choice at MK

The cab really helped, so worth it not to rush. I was really happy we got so much done that morning and even more that everyone was enjoying.

You are never too late for the party . It was great to see Heather and enjoy some time with her. I always love Jasmine's AM shots. I love AKL in the early mornings, it is just so beautiful.

You really need to try the waffle, I will say when they dumped the cold slaw on there it did look a bit....well not that appetizing but one bite and we were both hooked. It was really good. Chicken was spicy, the cold slaw helped balance the spiciness and the waffles were lite and flaky. Jasmine already said if they still have it when we are back in November she wants another one.

I was happy that the boys were having fun. Some of the things I thought they would not enjoy they had tons of fun on.
We did not have long to wait for a bus, I have to say I was quite pleased with the bus service at AK. We have definitely lucked out on the past few trips, we always find we might have one or long waits but for the most part they really came quickly.
We made it back to the resort I think around 3:00 PM or so according to my notes. When I was updating my Passporter with our morning adventures I was quite pleased with all we had gotten done.
I really do not remember what we all did, I think the kids might have went down to the pool for a bit, or at least they went out wandering. Jasmine took photos...but that was no surprise.
I think I relaxed in the room and even closed my eyes for a bit. At some point I wandered the resort myself. I love the pond right outside Jiko. If I had this outside my house I think I would be in such a wonderful mood each day.
At some point we all congregated back at the rooms and we got ready for our evening at the parks. We headed out to a bus and made out way back to the Magic Kingdom.
We had decided that we would just enjoy the attractions tonight and that on our next evening here we would find ourselves a great spot for the Castle Show and Wishes so there was no rush to do anything specific. When we got to the park it looked like it was going to storm but it never did.
The kids wanted to look in the Emporium so we headed in....shopping was the only time that got confusing trying to keep track of everyone. We would wander around, find one of our group, wander around some more. We made our way all the way to Casey's and decided we should head somewhere as we really did think it was going to rain. That darkness was not just evening setting in. It was a large storm cloud that just sat over us.
When we got to Casey's we realized we were missing someone. The girls decided to pose for a picture while the others text our missing party.
We finally found our missing member....Hugo appeared.
We were all a bit hungry but figured we would enjoy some attractions first so we headed towards Adventureland.
There was a posted wait of 30 minutes for the Jungle Cruise but the line did not look long at all so we headed on. It was not 30 minutes, maybe 10 at most. We had a great skipper, the boys found her hysterical. We almost lost a shipmate, someone's little kid was climbing all over the boat, the skipper actually had to stop the boat to say "everyone needs to be seated before I can move again".
Once we made it back to the dock we headed onto POC, another ride with little wait. We walked right on. There was a couple in front of us who was discussing the injuries that were sustained recently on POC, the man was hysterical and telling his wife...."Well if the idiot is going to put his hand outside the boat when the sign clearly says not too then maybe he deserved to have something else cut off". They were pretty funny with the banter.
It was decided that we needed to feed our stomachs. We originally had a FP for BTMRR that we booked before we left the park earlier (I was being pre-emptive). I love that once you book that extra FP you can make changes on your DME, for some reason we decided to change it so we made a FP for Buzz for 9:45 PM - 10:45 PM and then headed into Peco Bill's for dinner.
I knew what I was getting but the boys had to think it over for awhile. They were debating if they wanted the steak and chicken or the burger. In the end they had burgers, Angel and Alexa split the pulled pork sandwich and fries (yes slitting meals became a thing, they both have huge eyes but little stomachs, splitting meals made it so easy, they would split a meal then have a snack later, it worked and it was better then each of them wasting half a meal).
Jasmine had a Chicken Salad and I had a burger. They first brought it to me with cheese, I explained that I needed a plain burger, they apologized and brought me another....with cheese. In the end I got a regular plain burger and the cheese burger which worked out well as the salad did not fill jasmine up so she had some of the cheeseburger.
Jasmine needed to use the bathroom, they were cleaning the bathroom in Peco Bills (someone had made a mess) so we headed to the one in Adventureland. On the way back we stopped for some Jasmine and Mom photos.
We went back to Peco Bill's and picked up the rest of the group and headed out. We were going to head over to Tomorrowland but we stopped to walk through the Swiss Family Tree House, it was 10 PM as there was a whole bunch of people in the tree house enjoying Wishes, we stood for a few minutes too watching and then headed back towards our destination.
As we were passing through Main Street, Wishes had just ended and Angel and Alexa wanted to run ahead to see the wait time on SpM since if they ran they could beat out the Wishes rush. I told them fine and the boys went to join them as well. They text shortly after to say the wait was 30 minutes, I told them fine but that they might miss their FP for Buzz but if they did they could ride standby after.
Jasmine and I leisurely wandered towards Tomorrowland, stopping first on a short line for Winnie the Pooh . We made it over to Buzz within a few minutes of the end of our FP, Angel text to say they were going on the ride so Jasmine and I used our FPs for Buzz.
When we got off they were still not off yet so we rode the People Mover and soon they text to say they were heading over to Buzz. They had a great ride and Alexa claimed the SpM was her favorite ride (this became a joke as every time she tried a new ride it became her favorite ride )
We headed onto Buzz. The standby was 5 minutes so we all headed on again. I think we ended up riding once and the switching partners and riding again.
As we were heading out we walked over the bridge towards the castle and we stopped for some a photo.
We made it out of the park as the 11 PM Main Street Electrical Parade was going on, it was a smart move as we made it to the bus stop, had a small wait but we got a seat.
Everyone was exhausted, always a good thing so after showers (Jasmine coming into the "girls" room so she could do her hair) and writing down some notes we were soon all ready for bed.
Now I will share another first. Alexa stays at our house a lot and visa versa, I have never seen these two girls fall asleep so quickly...EVER. They would head into bed, talk for a few minutes and would be asleep before I even turned out the light. I did not last much after.
Up Next: Animal Kingdom and the first of our changes
Great finish to the day - you did well with line times again in the evening at The MK.
It's so pleasant to tour with a group when everyone is having fun. The boys seem mature enough to let their inner kids out, which I think is the key to enjoying the Magic Kingdom.

Great evening in MK! The sky looked so cool!!! Glad it never opened up on you though!
You got quite a few rides in for the evening.
Food looked yummy!!!
Another awesome evening....amazed really at how much you have been able to accomplish! Funny, I have never thought to watch Wishes from the Tree House...in fact, I don't think I have been up in the Tree House since AJ was a toddler!
Nothing cures insomnia like a summer day at WDW. Glad everyone slept well!

Signing in late but, I am all caught up. Wow you accomplished a lot in Mk that morning. Looks like everyone is having a magical time. I cannot wait to read more.
The sky did look ominous, but it makes for some fascinating photos. I take it that it didn't rain?
Not a drop Cheryl. I kept waiting for the sky to open up but it never did

They were pretty good, there were waits on the big ticket items but between FP+ and hitting certain rides late in the day or early in the morning we did not have to wait much for anything.

I will admit now I was surprised about the boys, I knew there were things they would enjoy but I also figured certain things would bore them. I was really happy with their reaction.

Trust me Danielle, I never thought of watching them from the Tree House either , I really do not even know what made me lead the troops there, we passed it and I figured well its time they walk through the tree house and so we were off. I was pretty surprised at how many people were up there.
