Just the two of us! (Need I say anything more?) Our Fantasy & Dream trip…Lots of photos completed 4/25/2014 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your meal at Remy sounds lovely, and from the pictures, I think I might actually be okay with most of that food (except maybe the pigeon... doesn't sound appealing to me). Vincent sounds like a wonderful server. I would have been very uncomfortable with the sommelier as well.

Remy sounded, and looked, great! We really enjoyed it when we went. I'm sure the server can make all the difference, though, in putting you at ease. Glad the sommelier wasn't your server!
Wow! That dinner looked amazing! I would have been nervous too though, I enjoy fine dining, but get nervous when I have no clue what some of the items even are, let alone what wine goes with what!!! . Just give me the food and the wine I like and call it good!
Next update sounds unnerving
Dinner was amazing and Vincent made it all so much better.

Thank you. We had a wonderful evening. Something I hope to repeat very soon.

We had a memorable evening and still talk about it while waiting for our next.

I think I have been viewing Remy as a once in a life time experience but I can't wait to go back.

I've heard and read about that. Now I would love to convince Dan that a ressie at V&A is needed in the future.

It was quite the celebration. I think that was what concerned Dan. Would there be enough food. Though courses are small they are plentiful. We we're actually full before dessert.

It made our 24th so special. Now to top it for this years 25th.

That pigeon was so tiny. Dan said it was very good. My lack of knowledge about wines seemed to turn her off. I thought she was there to help. Maybe she was just having a bad night.

Thank you. You and me both. I thought I was going to get a few good options. Oh well the Tattinger was very good.
For those of you who have been following my situation with my mom I thought I'd give you a little update. She's been home for a little more than 5 weeks. Congestive Heart Failure seems to be controlled for now but...she hurt her back about 3 weeks ago just be turning over in bed. Now she is on her back more than 90% of the time. She needs to go to the hospital but so far I've had no luck convincing her. All in all...she is better and doing well. We just need to get this latest issue taken care of. Now if it would just stop snowing. We're expecting 12 to 16 inches tomorrow.
We slept in this morning since nothing was really planned until 5 pm for another meet to reveal our Secret Mickey’s. Dan and I just took our time but then a message came over the speakers in the hallway looking for a gentlemen to join the rest of his family. This message started in the common areas, then in the hallways, finally repeating in the staterooms, each message the same and the tone sounding more urgent. When we left our room we heard that we were stopping at Grand Turks for yet another emergency. We went up to deck 12 and watched as we slowly pulled in to the same island as we previously did just a couple of days ago. View from our porthole
To think we could have been closer to this had I not agreed to switch rooms when DCL asked. Hey...we got a $25 OBC. whoop! Grand Turks
I don’t know what kind of emergency it was but a family of seven disembarked via lifeboat to the island where the ill person would be airlifted to the nearest hospital. Dan ordered us a drink as I took some shots of this different port of call I had to wonder. What exactly is there to see at Grand Turks? Just my opinion. Oh well and some others. Soon we were headed back on course to Castaway Cay, leaving the Fantasy shy one family. So sad. Dan surprised me so I don't know what it was...but it was good!
I think it was a Captains MaiTai and a Banana something. Lol! Someone was there Life boat returning
Since we were on deck 12 we decided to travel one deck down and try out Cabanas for lunch. They had the usual smorgasbord buffet with lots of things to choose from. Dan and I had similar plates so I just snapped a quick photo of my own. Lots to choose from Freshly carved corned beef…with horseradish and Parsnip puree soup…very good A few desserts…shared by two Sticky toffee bread pudding…Not a pretty looking dish but I could have easily gone back for seconds!
With lunch out of the way we decided to try our luck at the Future Sailing desk. We waited barely two minutes and were soon booking our next cruise. We chose another Western Caribbean but this time on the Magic and booked around the same time as this one and in a dreaded forward room. The itinerary was a bit different because instead of Cozumel we would we headed to Falmouth Jamaica. Something different and now we can say we have sailed all four Disney ships.
We returned to our room to find more Fe goodies so I arranged them on the bed and took a shot. At this point I began packing a few more things that I knew we wouldn’t be using while Dan watched some TV. Later we took a walk and ended up at the Cove Café and another amazing latte! We hung around for a while and then returned to our room. We asked our stateroom hostess to refill our ice bucket so we could chill our ignored bottle of Asti and slowly enjoyed it while watching Pirates on the tube and getting ready for dinner at Animator’s Palate. FE goodies Latte and snack
Dressed in our semi-formal attire we saw Kris and Larry as soon as we approached out table. They were busy crating their works of art for the Animation Magic Show and soon we were right behind them with crayon in hand. With our art projects collected it was time to have another enjoyable meal and wait for the show. Sour Dough bread with Roasted Red Pepper Dip AP Menu Tuxedo…Sparkling wine, Ketel One Vodka and Chambord Appetizer Trio…This was a new combination and I’m not sure what the first one was. I want to say Duck breast, prosciutto and cranberries, mini buffalo salad and shrimp with Aioli sauce. This was very good. Also the Popcorn soup is no longer on the menu. Wild Forest Mushroom soup…now on the kids menu. Ask and you shall receive. Oven-baked Lobster Tail…served in the shell with lemon butter, bean casserole, and saffron rice
Larry took a picture of me taking a picture of my food I did the same Larry and his camera
While we were finishing up our entrees the Animation Magic Show began. The show is always cute and it was fun to see our drawings come to life on the screens around us. Our drawings come to life! Created by: The perfect finish…dessert! Banana Crčme Brulee…with caramelized bananas. I missed out on this on our Remy night. So I asked for it.
Our night ended with a celebration and a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to Dan along with a special dessert and pin for the occasion. Dan took his dessert to go and we were greeted by this big fellow. Throw snake Dessert for breakfast Our stateroom hostess put my rose in a vase
Good grief, you certainly had your fair share of medical emergencies. It was a bit spooky looking at the lifeboat photos - not something you thankfully get to see on every cruise.
Glad you're joining the "all four ships" club! Hey, we should have a club, maybe a cool t-shirt......
Can't believe there was another medical emergency!
Wasn't the show in AP cool?! We loved that!
WOW! That medical emergency sounded scary! Can't even imagine being that family
Your food all looks amazing - as I am sitting here at work, while the snow is coming down, hungry and all I have is sweet potato and some clementines!!
Congrats on booking your next cruise!!!

Beautiful meal. That was a strange looking ship you were parked by. Glad the life boat was not for either of you. Congrats on the cruise booking. Are you sure you want to be in the front half of the boat?
