As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Those pretzels should yummy. So glad we will see a picture later. Did you find out where to watch the fireworks from is best. We are considering going to poly our next trip for fireworks.

Good for you sticking to the plan and heading out again for fireworks. I'd have been so tempted to just collapse in the room after that long day and all the heat!
I knew I didn't have a lot of time this trip (well it never seems like I have enough time) to do all I wanted, so I had to keep going. When I am at Disney I can go go go. It's like something takes over me. At home I need a nap about 4 times a day.

I'm sorry you weren't happy with your pictures of Wishes--if it's any consolation, I enjoyed looking at them--we rarely ever make it to the fireworks for a variety of reasons, so looking at others pics of them are as close as I usually get!
Hope you were able to get cooled off and got a good nights sleep!
(Cute picture of Claire, too, btw)
No problem!
We rartely watch the fireworks too. We just seem to be doing too much and don't stop to watch. Clairte doesn't have a lot of interest in watching right now, so we skip it. It's been awhile since I actaully watched the whole show fro mstart to finish...and not just looking up as we are walking.
It was so hot. I was really shocked at how hot it was that late at night.

Once you walk out past the pool turn to the right and go a little ways down and you'll see the castle much better. It was my fault for not getting there early enough and setting up. I now know a bit more...and may try it again in the future.

It was still nice...just not as great as I hoped it would be. But I was at Disney....can't complain about that.

Sounded like a great shopping spree at DTD.
I love EOS, it is wonderful!
Sorry you didn't like the view of Wishes or your pics. I thought they were good. I never can take good shots at night.

I was more mad at myself for not getting there earlier so I could actually scope out a spot,,but now I know
A shot of Space Mountain and then I headed back inside for a bit.
I stepped inside the Poly for a bit and did a quick look around. I “should’ve” went and got my very first dole whip, but I was thinking.
I am going to be the odd one out here…but I wasn’t overly impressed with the Polynesian. I thought it looked worn and nothing super fantastic. Maybe if I had some day time experience there, I might change my mind, but the only great thing going for it was being on the monorail line. I think it is grossly overpriced. But again, I have never stayed there, and not been in a room…so if anyone would like to pay for me to stay, I will and get you an honest opinion! It was around 11 now and I headed back to MK to catch a bus. It was PACKED at the MK bus terminals.. I wasn’t even thinking before hand, but I believe the park closed at 11 (though it had EMH’s till 2) I debated heading back to AS Movies or going to Animal Kingdom Lodge to check it out. I was just too tired though and got in line for Movies…..and waited…and waited…and waited some more. I saw about 3 of every other bus come by, but no Movies bus. It was still incredibly HOT, I was sweaty, near a bunch of other sweaty people, I was tired, thirsty, and I had the worst headache. I waited over 30 minutes before a bus came. It was ridiculous. But 2 did show up, so I made it on a VERY full bus…ALL going to Movies. No bus sharing this time around….YAY! It was right about midnight when I arrived back at Movies. I quickly ran back to my room, grabbed my mug and went and refilled it before the food court closed. It was actually pretty busy in there too. I took some ibuprofen and let it do it’s magic!
Time for a bit of a snack!
I ate about half of them and then went to explore some more…yes it is now almost 12:30 AM and I am going out for a stroll!
Andy’s books.
I went and sat on a bench for a bit. It was still really hot. I was amazed how it never cooled down even slightly. I started talking to some people there. One guy had recently moved to South Carolina. I said to him that he must not be originally from the South because he had no accent. Sure enough he was from New York state. Then something funny happened. I have mentioned this a few times in the past in other reports….he asked me if I was from Ohio. He said I definitely had that accent. I must REALLY have the Ohio/Michigan sound. Though I think I sound completely normal…even monotone. But I have had this asked of me MANY times over the past few years. Most ask if I am from Michigan. When we traveled in Tennessee a few years back I had someone ask me… and then again that same trip as we were driving home and IN Southern Ohio a guy at a restaurant asked me as well. (Southern Ohioans do tend to have a bit of a southern accent). And since then I have been asked/told that randomly as well. No one says anything to my husband…just me. But I think we all sound the same. LOL! After talking a bit to him and several other people, (it was amazing how many people were still out and about that late at night), I wandered around a bit more to get a few last shots for the night.
This girl posing was actually one of the people I had talked to earlier on the bench. She asked what I was doing and I told her, so she struck a pose. LOL
I headed back to the room to call it a night. First I played around with Phineas and Ferb and took a few shots to send Claire.
It was around 1 AM now so I lay down and wrote up some notes of the day and watch a little bit of Stacy. My eyes got a bit too droopy and close to 2 I was out like a light.
Wow--you really packed in a lot in one day!!
And the whole accent thing? That happens to my DH all the time with his Boston "twang", but never to me with my Downeast Yankee accent. (He says it's b/c no one can hear me over all the noise of the "dropping r's". Whatever... or is that whatevah?)
Love the nighttime pictures of ASM. Isn't it great that you can walk around at night and still feel safe? I love Disney.

It was like that all week. I just kept going and going...but the heat did kick my rear and I was much more tired this trip too.

It gets hot here, but most evenings it cools off somewhat. It still felt like 104 at 11 PM.
