As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The Key West Trolley Tour is a great way to see the island. We really liked it. And, as you said, the price is right.
Apparently the change the statues in front of the red brick building with the season. Last October it was a tall farmer and wife statue!

I'm not sure about the sculptures. I couldn't find a good description on the Art and Historical website! But they are all around the Customs House (A&H society). And they are very cool! As for all the people, my guess is most of them were from the Disney Magic! We were the only ship in port that day!
Day 6 – Monday August 24, 2009 – A Relaxing Day at Sea!
I was up at the usual 6:30 this morning, and I think most everyone was up shortly after that! We went to Topsiders again for breakfast, and then back to the room so the kids could put together their LEGOs. Around 9, we went down to Ocean Quest since it was open house time. The kids played some Wii games, but the line for “driving” the ship was too long so they never got a chance.
We went back to the room to change into our suits (me and the kids) and then we went up to the Goofy Pool. It was already hot out. They were showing A Bug’s Life on the Ariel screen TV, so we swam and watched that for a bit. The kids wanted to go back to the room to play with their LEGOS, so Matt took them and I went to the adult pool for a bit to swim and read some of my book (Along Came a Spider by James Patterson). There weren’t any lounge chairs left (and it was only about 10:30 AM) so I just sat in the pool and read in one of the shallow areas. It was my first time in this pool, and it’s great (deeper than the Goofy Pool)! J I went downstairs and got dressed so that we could go to the Castaway Club Members reception down in Beat Street! The last two pictures are the western tip of Cuba as we sailed on by!
They had a big spread for all the CC members! Fresh fruit, Mickey rice crispy treats (which we got 2), and sods and bottled water! We scooped up 4 bottled waters for our excursion tomorrow in Grand Cayman! Our cruise director was Brent Davies, who was our cruise director on our Wonder cruise back in 2006! They gave our trivia about the DCL, and everyone got a free pen and a chance at some Disney merchandise thru a raffle (of course we didn’t win anything). The kids ended up playing foosball for awhile.
We went back up to the room to drop off our goodies, and then to lunch at Topsiders. Today was the Italian buffet. Tummies stuffed, it was back to the room. I went back up to the adult pool and enjoyed some more pool time and reading, and the kids and Matt just hung out in the room. I came down around 2 to get ready for Tea at Palo. I was meeting Michelle (Marv) and Gina (D&G Miller). Alexa decided she was going to go to the club while I was gone (to the Ratatouille Cooking School theme) so I dropped her off on my way to Palo. I decided to take the elevator up after dropping off Alexa, and who should be in the elevator but Michelle!
We had a great time at the Tea, but I forgot to take pictures! Another thing we discussed and didn’t understand was that there were only 2 or 3 other parties in there for tea, yet it was SOLD OUT. So to say that it is very limited would be an understatement! I’m not sure if they don’t want to have to get the restaurant all cleaned up for dinner again or what, but they certainly didn’t open a lot of tables. We each had some tea, and they had little sandwiches and desserts. The food was very good, as was the tea, and Andrea was our server again! Gina had to leave early for a tasting she was doing with her husband, but Michelle and I were the last ones out of there, just after 4. Thanks again to Michelle for securing the tea for us.

I got back to the room and started to get ready for formal night. I had wanted to get a family picture taken, and figured that the lines would be long so that we should leave a bit early. We headed out of the room just after 5, and had about a 20 minute wait to get our picture taken. They were walking around with complimentary cocktails, so I had one, although I don’t remember what was in it (some rum drink).
Animator’s Palate was our restaurant tonight, and even though it was our first night, since it was formal night, it was the Golden Mickey’s menu, which meant no show in AP! L That was a bit disappointing, as we were eating in AP tomorrow night as well, but I had booked Palo that night, assuming the show would be the first night. Thankfully it is for 7:30, so we can still go to see the show! Anyway, the food was very good. I had the prosciutto with honeydew, a salad, and the beef wellington. I think Matt had the cheese soufflé, a salad, and the swordfish. The kids must have just had something off the kids menu (it was pizza again for Colin). Our server Ali, did a bunch of magic tricks for the kids, which they loved, and they couldn’t get enough of! J He knew how to keep them entertained!
After dinner, it’s all a blur! I think Matt and Alexa went to the Golden Mickeys show. I remember watching it on TV and falling asleep. So it was an early night for me! J
The weather today was……warm and sunny
The best thing today was……….tea with Michelle and Gina.
The worst thing today was……dressing up for formal night.
Today we tried………tea at Palo, and the adult pool.
And the result was…they were both great!
The most magical moment today was……the magic tricks at dinner!
Sounds like a very peaceful, relaxing day. Glad you had some "you" time and that the kids were having fun at the club and in the room playing with their goodies. Your formal picture looks great.
