The Trip Full of Spontaneity TR July 22-26 - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Pandora looks amazing at night and can't wait to see it for the first time in October! Looks like you had a great meal and time at Narcoosees! A lot of nice extras for your anniversary dinner from the CMs! Quite the view from your table for the HEA fireworks and water pagean shows! Certainly, a night you won;t soon forget!
I don't think you can help but be amazed by Pandora. The meal was the perfect ending to our day.

I love the pictures of Pandora, but even more - love how you were able to tweak and make changes to better suit you guys. So thankful you were feeling better by your Narcossee's ADR.
The tomatoes were peeled and almost pickled in a sense. So many flavors, but all blended to amazing. I was glad to be feeling better too!

I feel so terrible for that little boy. I know Disney can put stress on a family, especially with small kids and the crowds, but that's horrible. I'm glad you were feeling better by the evening. You definitely snagged the perfect time for dinner!

I did too. It can be stressful and people make bad choices in the heat and things, but I just hope he was taken care of. Dinner was perfect.

The next day we must have changed our plans 20 times. We just could not settle on where we wanted to be. So I had the crazy idea to go to all four parks. We had 3 Fastpasses from our DVC tour that could be used at any park. I wanted to ride Ellen's Universe of Energy and The Great Movie Ride to say goodbye. We had a Fastpass at Magic Kingdom for Pirates of the Caribbean. We decided signing up for a day of Express Transportation would be the best idea to accomplish this.
We packed and walked to the front to check our bags. Tragical Express wasn't picking us up until 7:45 pm.
Tim also paid off our charges.
Then we headed to Magic Kingdom. We signed up for the Express Transportation in the Chamber of Commerce quickly and easily. Then rode Pirates of the Caribbean. Then we were done at Magic Kingdom. But I had to stop and say goodbye to the Castle.
There was a little show going on.
And then Tim remembered that he wanted to get an Oswald Britto figurine, so he did that while I got us some fuel from Starbucks.
I got an iced tea.
Tim got an iced mocha.
We then headed over to the transportation area by Buzz Lightyear and got right on a bus to Epcot. We were there in minutes. The one rule they have is that you can't take pictures back stage. All but one of the buses were empty except us.
We went straight to Universe of Energy.
We had a nice air conditioned break. It was more funny than I remembered. Stupid Judy!
We then traveled safely back to the present and headed to...
And rode...
We then were getting hungry so we stopped there for lunch.
We each got the pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, corn and some chocolate chip cookies for a snack later.
On our way back to the Express Transportation we caught this show.
I forgot the no pictures backstage rule and snapped one of Test Track backstage.
We again didn't have to wait for a bus. We now went to Hollywood Studios and went straight to...
After saying goodbye to that we went and watched The Path of the Jedi moved because Tim and I hadn't seen it.
We then hopped over to Animal Kingdom. As we were back stage the plaid vested cast member who greets us and walks us to the park pointed out that there is a hidden Mickey in the floating islands in Pandora that can only be seen from this perspective. Alas I could take no pictures, but that was cool to see.
We then went to take a safari.
And I have no pictures. This is where things went south. We got out in row one. Well almost every vehicle only has two seats in the front to allow for wheelchairs, which is great but three vehicles loaded before we finally got on. We stood there in our row for 25 minutes! Then I realized that in row 1, you have very limited view. Most of it is through a dirty windshield. But the worst was when I tried to take a picture, the lady next to me shoved my arm down and demanded I keep out of her way so she could take her picture. Three times I attempted to take a picture and she shoved my arm down. I tell you right now, I am not a violent or confrontational person but I was very close. If we hadn't been leaving to go back to the resort I would have said something to a cast member. My husband didn't see it because he was looking at the animals. I was frustrated and angry. So I grumbled. Tim ran over to Expedition Everest to get a hat for Caden.
Then we met up and headed back to the resort. I again helped two conference people find their bus stop.
The express bus worked very well for you and were able to visit all four parks. This being even before the sun went down! Too bad for that rude lady on KS. She acted like she had the rights to take photos and no one else did!

I liked these but didn't care for the rice. I had a lemon shortbread bar which was very good. Tim had the carrot cake and said it was good.
They had a wish tree in the gift shop so I made my wish.
Then we went and waited here.
And waited and waited and waited.
Tim finally said something to one of the baggage people and they said they would call and check. It came about 20 minutes late. But at least it came. Our flight was not very full thankfully. Tim and I had some empty seats next to us. I fell asleep just as we were landing, which caused neck whiplash. That wasn't fun. We got our luggage and walked through our door about 2 a.m. We didn't bother unpacking a thing.
Next update: Photopass pictures and final thoughts.

I'm not sure I've ever been so angry on vacation before. But at least the rest of the trip had been magical! We visited the parks and did all of that in 6 hours.
Too bad with the long wait for DME. I thought that may have been a sign that it wasn't time to go home yet! Glad the flight went well and that was quite a long day!

I said the same thing. I offered to go hunting for a house lol!

It was so tempting to shove her back. But no I didn't. I just put my phone away and gave her an angry stare, which honestly, as a teacher, is pretty scary.
Wow! I am impressed that you did all four parks! And on your departure day yet!!
How nice that you got to say good-bye to Ellen's Energy Adventure and Great Movie Ride! I've always enjoyed them both and am so sad they are gone forever!

We were quite tired after all that adventure. I'm glad we got to say goodby to them too. Though I am looking forward to what they implement.
How cool to manage all 4 parks on your last day and the Express Transportation was so helpful with that! How rude of that lady on KS! Shame on her! The first row is terrible for photos as I've been there. If they tell me Row 1 now, I ask for further back as I'll be taking photos. They've always been nice to move us back to another row.
I'm glad to hear the Express Transportation worked out well for you. I don't think I've heard any reviews of it so far, so it's good to hear one now.
Oh my goodness, that woman! Wow, wow, wow! What the heck is it with people? Talk about being self centred... so sorry that was one of your last experiences before leaving the bubble...

From now on, so will I. The Express Transportation was wonderful!

Yes, I highly recommend it, though I've heard they are thinking of discontinuing it. It isn't well advertised and they don't let anyone else sell it (TAs or even the resorts). If they did, I think more would do it.
As far as that lady, I'm still baffled by her behavior. I don't understand how people like that can function in society.
