The West's are heading South...again! - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a fun and relaxing day! I'm sorry your dinner was cold, but it sure sounds like you all enjoyed it anyway! I Downtown Disney! Muffin-not so much. I am trying to work it in when Logan and I have a couple of days on our own!
I can't wait to hear about your date night!
Tara

to your DD getting housing for next fall! Breakfast at Olivia's is very nice! Congrats to you on TSMM. We have an ADR at Paradiso 37 in May, and I really hope our food does not come out cold.

Hi everyone! I'm feeling a little sheepish coming back to this TR after such a long hiatus. Please forgive me. Life has been crazy busy.
Anyway, back to it.
We had our date night at Boma. We got to the resort a little early and had fun exploring. It is so beautiful. DH would really like to stay there someday. Dinner was ok. There didn't seem to be as many selections as we enjoyed the last time we ate there. DH was really hoping for some spicy food, but everything was pretty bland. We still enjoyed ourselves and were very full when we left.
The kids went to 50's primetime for a solo dinner and enjoyed themselves as well.
We actually got back before they did so I took advantage of the time to do a couple of loads of laundry.
Now I am going to go back and review what I already wrote and try to pick up from there...lol...

Glad you are back to posting, but I totally understand life getting busy. Luke has mentioned that the selections at Boma are no longer as spicy as he remembers them. Can't wait for more.
Don't worry - we understand that sometimes things get in the way of the important Disney stuff... Sounds like a great date night!
Thanks It was good to get him to see AKL...someday

DH does enjoy spicy food. Maybe next time we'll try Sanaa...I hear good things
Love your new profile pic!

There were zebra domes though so...I really can't complain
Thursday was our full DHS day. I' afraid I really don't remember much about what we did. I know we got a snack at some point, because it caused some trouble at lunch. We had reservations for lunch at Beaches and Cream. I was really looking forward to it after reading such good things about it here. We drove over and took advantage of the free valet parking with our TiW card. We asked for directions, but they weren't very good as we ended taking a quite round about way to get there. It gave us a chance to see alot of the Beach and Yacht Clubs and Stormalong Bay. I now have my own bucket list of where I would like to stay. It is just so beautiful! Very much my style, so DH and I might have to arm wrestle to decide if it will be there or AKL..lol.
We finally checked in and took a seat outside to wait. We had to wait about 20 minutes, during which time the kids complained that they weren't really that hungry since I had "made" them eat a snack at DHS. (sidebar: I heard this several times on this trip due to our group arriving at the parks at different times. On this day, I think DS and I went to the park early and DH and DD joined us later. They didn't really eat much breakfast so were hungry early. I suggest a snack, even though I know we will be eating lunch in a couple of hours. That's what snacks are for, right?
Then at meal time, nobody is really hungry. Annoying to the one who made the reservations and is excited to try new places...me)
Anyway, we finally get called in and the place is so tiny. They seat the four of us at a table in the middle (row of booths along the wall, row of tiny tables down the middle, then the counter. Maybe 5 booths plus 4-5 tables? Very small). The table itself was very tiny, so we were immediately uncomfortable. I ordered some onion rings to start while we looked at the menu. The waitress seemed pretty uninterested in us, which is unusual at Disney, but whatever...Peyton just ordered a side salad, Cannon got a grilled chicken sandwich, but didn't like it because it had brie on it (remember, he was being adventurous, so thought he would try it), I don't remember what DH ordered, and I got a turkey sandwich that was supposed to have some kind of cranberry/jalapeno jelly on it. It sounded great, but was disappointing as there was (again) no spice to be found. Sheesh, why so bland? Anyway, another less than impressive lunch and everyone was too full to want ice cream. Well, that's another one I won't be trying again...unless it's just for ice cream
After we dropped the kids off at the room to chill, DH and I headed out to find the elusive Disney Outlet Store. The outlets were of course crowded, but I was able to pick up a few things for some friends back home. We were only gone about an hour and a half. WE decided to go back to DTD and grab a bite and then go see a movie. Cannon and I took the boat over with DD and DH coming to join us later. WE had thought about going back to EoS again, but the line was crazy long. We went next door to Wolfgang Puck Express instead. DH, DD,and I shared a caesar salad and a cheese pizza, I got Cannon a meatball sub. Then we went and watched Fast and Furious 7. It was a pretty nice evening
I had a bout of stomach trouble that kept me up most of the night, but did it slow me down on my last park day? Stay tuned to find out...
Bummer that B&C didn't live up to what I know it can be. We have always enjoyed our meals here. But maybe it would be the perfect ice cream place for you all. Your evening sounded very pleasant.
