1 if by Land, 2 if by Sea - A Coop/ChukkerB PTR - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I thought I saw some improvement this morning, but maybe I'm just being optimistic. We have so many things in our lives to be thankful of, that complaining about hair loss is... I started my play today, "39 Steps" it's sort of a Hitchcock comedy, and some of my favorite people are in it. I've pretty much got the time between now and DDay covered. Still 50 some days, but hold on, it's gonna be a fast ,bumpy ride

It's frustrating when you have one of these medical issues that doesn't have an easy fix. We're so programmed into thinking that you can take a pill or have surgery or DO something for just about anything. Doesn't always work that way. I think you're dealing with it fabulously and are really rocking the GI Jane look! Your trip is sounding so amazing and I'm excited for you both!
Thanks Laurie! It is frustrating but it is what it is. Not much we can do.

You are the reason I looked into the chocolate tour! I read about it in your TR and looked into it when our booking opened up! I'm excited about it!

Thanks Cheryl!

Good job with your planning and FP+ selections.
(I love that you are comfortable going with the natural look. If you ever want something besides a hat for sun protection, I've found Buffs work really well (made by same company that makes them for Survivor). They even come in a UV and insect protection version.)
Thanks Sharon! I did order a buff and I actually wear it at work. I like the fact that it's also UV protection. I may order up a couple more. I'm not a big hat person.

Your FP's look great!
It is frustrating. Especially when they say your body is going against itself. I just think "What else?" But it is what it is. Thanks.

You either have to start something, anything and see if it works,if not try something else, or you do absolutely nothing, and see what other things present themselves. Either way is a "wait and see" kind of thing, only time will tell.
Coop is very brave in that She has always had very envious hair. Now, not so much, but I have a feeling it will all grow back as it was before. Mine unfortunately will not, no big loss for me.(pardon the pun)
As the days quicky count down we seem to be thing of nothing else except our trip. Still a lot of work to do following the flood, but that upcoming vacation is such a nice carrot.
I'm having a minor dilema over going to Castaway Cay. I hate the thought of getting my feet all tore up in the sand, As anyone knows it gets EVERYWHERE!
I'm not sure water shoes are going to do the trick. I'm thinking about wearing my 5fingers, but there's still lot's of open areas for the devil sand to infiltrate.
Suggestions?
I'm lucky that you A - like me in super short hair and B - understand me and how I feel about this. Thank you.

Thanks Kelly! I got the buff (that shazza recommended) because of the UV protection) When is your trip? Will we be overlapping?

We just firmed up our travel plans. On day 1 we will drive all the way to Valdosta, GA. That's about 14 hours but we thought that leaving at around 3 am, we would beat rush hour in Atlanta! We will be staying at Drury Inn in Valdosta. Then on the way home, we are staying in a Holiday Inn Express (I feel smarter already - ) in Ooletwah, TN. It's about half way. We continue to find the little things for the trip - like the sea safe lotion (for sea lice) and bandanas for pirate night. I am looking for a beach bag for the cruise and CC.
Chuck has started "Hell Week" for his play. Although he is laying down the law - he HAS to leave at 10 pm. Maybe that will help with him feeling so worn out. He used to stay until the very end of rehearsal (usually 11:30-12 midnight) and then have to get up for work at 5 am!
Me - I'm hanging in there. Still dealing with the hair issue (or lack thereof -) There are some strands coming back in the center but the edges are getting larger. So the circumference is getting bigger but there are straggler hairs in the middle. There are also sporadic patches noted around the front part of my head. Whatever - it is what it is. I'm just tired of (people I work with) telling me I look like I have cancer as well as other suggestions. I just wear my buff or my surgical cap and try to avoid the comments or stares. I have ACLS this coming weekend and once that's done - I should be good to really get things together for the trip!
I think we're going to miss each other! 10/10-18 for us.
Don't you want to tell those people "If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all."?!
I'm so sorry about the looks and questions you are dealing with. But good for you just going out there! I seriously don't know if I could do it, I'd be all over a wig store! Glad the final plans are coming together for you, it's going to be here before you know it!

I really do! One girl asked "What's that on your head?" in regards to my buff (scarf) and since she was wearing a headband I threw it back at her and said "What's that on yours?"

It really will - it seems like a long time but it's fast approaching! I don't want to be bothered with wigs!
What is the matter with people?? Why do they feel the need to ask personal questions that they should know are rude or hurtful or at least none of their business?
Your travel day plans there and back sound great! I'm finding as I get older that unsolicited advice is just that unsolicited and unwanted. for dealing with those full of suggestions and stupid comments, though I can tell you are doing quite fine. Can't wait to meet you all in October!
Good GRIEF!!! What the heck is wrong with people???? I think I need to come out there and open a can of you know what!!! Good for you just throwing it right back at the girl! Sheesh............people really annoy me!!!
Keep up the good spirits and let Jose cheer you up!

I know, right? I guess it's just the unknown but still. It's not like I'm not aware of it.

It really isn't their issue. I just wish they'd understand that. They "think" they are supportive but frankly, I can do without those comments.
