Eight is Enough - A July 2014 TR with cousins, club level and more Updated 3/29 DHS and Frozen Fun - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We started making our way closer to Splash Mountain (our next FP+), but it still wasn’t time to ride. My sister’s family didn’t get the exact same times as we did for some of the fastpasses, but they mostly all overlapped. We often waited until we could all ride together.
Cooling off in Adventureland.
We noticed POTC had a short wait and decided to ride that. I really love this ride and wish I would’ve gotten to ride it more. I love the new addition of the mermaids. Very cool.

We looked around the store, but didn’t make any purchases. Not even this cool Jake wig for DH.
Not sure how we were able to resist
It was finally 12:30 and time for us to ride Splash Mountain. I’m not going to lie; this ride gets me every time. My niece and I are both chicken and enjoy yelling the whole time while we ride together. I don’t think you can see my face on any ride picture. Jared and my BIL sat in front of us and ducked down to make sure we got soaked and it worked.
Where's my face?
After SM it was finally time for lunch. We couldn’t all agree on where to eat, so we ended up splitting up. My youngest niece, Shea, didn’t want to eat a hot dog, so she joined Aidan, DH, and I at Cosmic Ray’s. The rest of the gang ate at Casey’s.
We had to get our food before we could wait in line to be seated. They seated us in the area where Sunny Eclipse usually entertains, however he was not there today. We were told he was on vacation for July 4.
DH got a burger and loaded it up with toppings. He also got fries and a drink.
Shea got kids’ chicken nuggets. Her order came with fries, grapes, and a drink.
Aidan and I got hot dogs.
For some reason, I was really craving onions. I tried going to the toppings bar, but I was stopped as I exited our section and was told there was another toppings bar near the stage which people in our section had to use. That was fine by me, I just wanted onions, lol. After I finished my hot dog, I seriously went back and got a bowl of onions. I have no idea what came over me. My family was even teasing me and saying I was pregnant (which by the way I am not).
After lunch, we worked our way over to Main Street to reunite with the rest of the gang. We all wanted a snack and eventually decided on ice cream from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor. I don’t remember exactly what everyone got, but I got cookies and cream (DH ended up sharing with me). Jared got mint chocolate chip and I’m sure Aidan got chocolate (he always gets chocolate). Not sure what my nieces got, but by the looks of my picture I think one got birthday cake batter and one got cookies and cream.
The ice cream was so good, but so messy. We ended up finding a seat near the Plaza, but the ice cream started melting as soon as we stepped out of the store. There was ice cream everywhere and a CM who made sure she kept telling us she was tired of cleaning up all the ice cream people were spilling. At first I felt bad for her, but then she was annoying. She was like up our butts making sure we didn’t make a mess. I can't remember exactly what she said, but basically said something in Spanish to my boys about her spanking them if they made a mess. First of all, my boys don't speak a lick of Spanish. I know she was probably kidding, but I still think she was overstepping her boundaries. Don’t worry lady, we clean up after ourselves.
After the messiest ice cream ever, we decided it was time to head back to the hotel for a break. Everyone headed to the bus stop except DH and I. This is when we decided we needed to get the DASC if there was any hope DH would enjoy this vacation. He was already in so much pain. We headed over to Guest Services and were helped by a nice CM almost immediately. As soon as we explained DH’s condition, he told us there was no need to say anything more. He went in the back with DH’s driver’s license and came out with the card. He asked how many people were in our party and I said we were 8 in total. He asked where the rest of the family was and I almost cried when he said they had to be present in order for him to list all 8 on the card. I can certainly understand that, but I had no idea. I explained that they were on a bus back to the hotel and I could call them and have them head back, but it might be a while. I guess he could tell by face that I was not lying and listed 8 on the card.
DH and I finally headed back to Kidani, but not before we stopped and took some pictures we knew would embarrass the kids if they were around.
Up Next: Can you guess where we had dinner? I'll give you a hint: it was a first for my family and we were back at MK........
How rude of the CM! Maybe she was just joking, but I think she was overstepping her boundaries a little. And why did she speak Spanish to your kids? LOL I wonder why she thought you guys were Hispanic. So weird and funny.
Glad you were able to get DAS card without any problems.
Love the Splash Mountain picture! So funny!
Oh, and don't worry about your pathetic score at Buzz. I always get pathetic scores there and at TSMM. I hate to admit this but I got a score of 2,000's at Buzz. So embarrassing.
What a wackadoo that CM was, complaining about the ice cream. First of all, it's the middle of summer, ice cream melts! And, it's her job to clean up, no need to complain to the guests. She definitely overstepped her boundaries on that one!

Enjoying your trip. That CM complaining about the ice cream mess was definitely out of line. Not typical for Disney. Glad you didn't let that bother you too much. I'm guessing you are going to eat at BOG!
Thanks. It was such a cool experience. By the way, I drove passed Diggerland the other day and it looked pretty cool. I think I will check it out, but my boys want to do Sahara Sam's first. I didn't realize we lived so close to each other. Have you ever done a passporter meet? I haven't, but would love to.
They now have a combo ticket to do both parks in one day. In my TR I have started the section on Diggerland and posted some photos. No I've never done a meet but there are several Philly and Jersey people on the boards - we should do one at some point.
What a great time at MK!
Love all the PP pics. Glad to hear about your experience with the MM. I am going to get it for our trip.
What an annoying CM to bother you about the mess while you were eating your ice cream. We always clean up after ourselves too. I don't like to leave a mess behind.
Glad the CM was nice enough to list all 8 of you on the DAS card without everyone present.
