Rain, Sunshine & Cupcakes ~ June 24 - July 3 - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love all of the pics......glad you managed to brave the rain and still have fun in WDW. So did you use the "tooth brush holder" the rest of your trip? We always put ours away because I would hate for someone to touch my tooth brush

I love WS! I was happy I got to tour through the countries.

We did. But now I'm thinking it wasn't such a good idea.

What's with the rides stopping while you're on them. Your kids are going to start to think that every ride is going to have a break in the middle. Reading about this makes me think I better make sure to take potty breaks right before getting on any ride. And to not down a giant drink beforehand either.
This has never happened to us before. The kids took it quite well, I mean there was nothing they could do. At least they didn't have any bathroom emergencies while we were stuck. Imagine that.

We did, but I much rather prefer an early start. It really makes a difference.

I didn't think of that. Next time I'll take a nap.

My kids love to sleep in and I always let them at home. But not at Disney. There's so much to do.

Glad the weather cleared up - great pictures!
Of course you can use it (actually I borrowed it from Princess Sharon ).

Looks like you had a great day, and I love the toothbrush holder.
I think she'll like the little show they put while cooking. My kids were fascinated. About the food, it depends on if she's a picky eater or not. Abniel is an extremely picky eater but he tried.

I'm glad the rain cleared it and you could make the most of the day.
I always want to try Teppon Edo too, but I don't think claire would like it.
I'm pretty much limited in the restaurants we can eat because of my picky eaters. They are not adventurous at all, not even my husband.

We did leave our toothbrushes there. But now that you say that well... it got me thinking. Too late now.
What a nice day at Epcot even if you did get there later than you wanted. So happy to hear the rain isn't slowing you down. I'm with you on sleeping in, not at Disney, I want to be a up and get going to avoid the lines.

It's amazing how much you can get done with an early start.
I had set the alarm for 7:15 but I woke up at 7:0o. I showered and got ready then I woke Arben. The kids started to wake up after that. I went to get some coffee while they got ready. It was raining again this morning but it wasn’t too bad. We ate breakfast and finished up, leaving the room at 8:30. We got to the bus stop and waited less than 5 minutes for a bus.
Abniel ready to go
There was some traffic getting into the park and by the time we had gone through the turnstiles it was past rope drop. We headed towards Sunset Blvd. TOT had a 13 minute wait. Creepy but we decided to ride anyways. This would be Abniel’s first time on the ride and we were all excited. We didn’t get lost in the Twilight Zone and Abniel said he loved it. But if you look closely at the photo it doesn’t seem he was too happy. I would’ve bought the photo if only we’d be able to see Adriel. He’s right beside me behind those arms.
Our ride photo
A closeup of Abniel. I think he's in a state of shock.
Of course Adriel had to keep up with his tradition
Next up was RnRC. It showed a 30 minute wait but we decided to jump in. I started to notice Abniel was feeling a bit uneasy. I reassured him that he’d be fine but if he didn’t want to ride that’d be ok. Finally when we arrived at the loading area, Abniel backed out so Arben volunteered to take the chicken exit. I rode with Adriel and AJ was the odd man out so he rode with a stranger. Adriel wanted me to hold his hand while he was still holding the bar. It was almost impossible. I told him to hold on to the bar and I’d put my hand on his thigh. Last year he was much braver. The ride photo was not working this morning.
Some shots down Sunset Blvd
After a very bumpy ride (man I’m getting to old for this) we headed towards TSMM to get fastpasses. Well the time wasn’t good for us because we’d be at the resort’ I’d check later. The boys saw the Green Army Man and since there was no line, they got their autograph and picture.
We kept on walking, not really knowing what to do, and stumbled upon Phineas & Ferb. The line was pretty long but since those are Abniel’s favorite characters we had to do it.
We continued our slow paced tour and went to ride Star Tours for the first time. The line was like 15 minutes. Everyone loved it! None of us were deemed the Rebel Spy. We catched the Indiana Show as they were about to close up. It was standing room only but the kids enjoyed it. We were feeling hungry meaning it was time for lunch. The kids wanted pizza so off we went to Pizza Planet. But before entering I ran back to get TSMM fastpasses. Again the time was not good cause’ we’d be at the restaurant. On my way back I got some shots.
I trekked back to Pizza Planet and we went in. I got in line and sent Arben to get a table. The line was pretty long but it moved rather quickly. After ordering I realized I didn’t know where Arben had gone. I sent AJ to go look for him. He arrived back just in time to help me. We sat upstairs and had a very filling lunch. Arben and I had a veggie pizza, AJ had a meatball sub, Abniel had a kid’s meatball sub and Adriel had a cheese pizza. Sorry no pictures. For dessert I had the most sweetest cappuccino cupcake. I could only eat a little piece, it was that sweet.
After lunch, it was time for a break. We headed out of the park and to the bus stop where a bus was waiting. Finally the weather had cleared up so the kids were able to go swimming . Arben stayed in the room while I took the boys to the pool. We stayed at the pool for about 2 hours. Went back to the room, showered, got ready and left the room at 5:30.
The first thing we did when we arrived at the park was to go check TSMM. It had a 130 minute wait. No thank you! Our adr at 50’s PTC was for 7:00 so we had some time to kill. We wandered around taking pictures and checked out all the stores.
The only good shot I could get because of that darn stage.
Adriel is such a ham sometimes.
We were getting pretty hungry so at 6:30 I went to see if they could take us early. They did and we were seated almost immediately.
The boys waiting for our table
We settled down and the server came to explain the menu. I knew exactly what I was going to order as I’d been dreaming about the Pot Roast for quite some time. Arben and AJ had the fried chicken. I asked to change the collard greens for corn. Abniel and Adriel had chicken nuggets, fries and chicken noodle soup. Again, no pictures. For dessert I had the Smores, Arben, AJ, Abniel and Adriel had sundaes. Abniel also got another cupcake.
My half eaten dessert
I’d been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time and I have to say I was kind of disappointed. I thought the food was just ok. Our server was good but didn’t play his part. I had talked to my family about all the antics that happened there. We didn’t get anything. I was waiting for him to force feed someone, or make them set the table. Nothing happened. There was another server there and she was really good. Anyways, I’ll give 50’s another chance but probably not in the near future.
After our dinner we just walked around. I wasn’t planning on seeing Fantasmic but the boys wanted to. It was 8:2o by now, so we trekked up and when we got there it was only half way full. We snagged great seats, center stage. Soon after they started the preshow which was very entertaining and helped pass the time. Then it was time for the main show. I tried getting some pictures but it seemed almost impossible. I can never get good shots.
The show was good, it's not my favorite but the kids liked it so that’s what’s important. When the show was over we stayed put and let the masses exit. We made our way out to the bus stop and waited 5 minutes for a bus. It was standing room only but that’s ok. We got to the room and watched a little tv. Lights were out at 11:30.
Sounds like a great day at DHS! I'm glad the boys could go swimming I've wanted to try 50's PTC but I'm always ify because I seem to read mixed reviews all the time. Maybe I'll try sometime soon. Can't wait to read more!
Wow! What a great day Glad the boys got to swim but sorry about the crazy lines for TSMM.
