For the plans they are a changin’ TR - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Nice, unrushed day! Love your PhotoPass photo shoot photos! Dinner looked delicious. I never thought about the Eat the Beat concerts interfering with dinners at certain restaurants. But that would be annoying. Great change to your dinner plans for the next night.
Wow, how lovely to have Disney Springs to yourself like that. Those Photopass pics are fun, but I think I preferred the backgrounds we both got in January. They must change them all the time...
Great dinner at the Rose and Crown. I didn't realise the Eat to the Beat concerts would have that much of an impact all that way around the World Showcase. Sounds like a good plan to axe Spice Road Table, good as it is.
My goodness, that is quite the hike to your room from the lobby!
I liked the backgrounds we got in January as well. These seemed to be focused on Halloween, with the Haunted Mansion backgrounds.
We couldn't really hear the music from the concert, just the continuous beating of the bass. It's one of those things where I didn't even notice it at first...until Jeff pointed it out. And then it got to be annoying.
Quite a nice day you had beginning in the Springs, but too bad Jeff wasn't feeling 100%. I'm sure the nap was a big help! Glad the bunch of irritating guys left the theater as you don't want that to spoil the show! Nice dinner at R&C, but too bad the noise from the concert was a bit much. Nice view for Illuminations. That's quite a hike from the elevator to your room. I think when I stayed at Jambo House in 2004, I had a walk like that as my room was near the end of the hallway. Seems that's pretty much the case with everyone here who stays there or KV.
We really enjoyed the morning at DS.
And yes, Jeff felt much better after the nap.
We had another great view for Illuminations, but again I chose not to take pictures. It was just so nice to watch and enjoy.

We really enjoyed Spice Road Table in January, but we were hoping to eat outside and I think the concert right next door would have put a damper on a relaxing patio dinner. I was glad Boma was available!
what a lovely relaxing day!! I am loving your new lens and your PP pictures are just adorable!! ALL OF THEM!!! Your dinner sounded delicious and how lovely to get a patio table!!!
What a great day! I love your photos of , well, everything! You did a great job capturing DS and the PP pics are adorable! Glad you had a nice dinner and Rose and Crown but I can just imagine how that drumming would be obnoxious.
I love the fiber optic lights in Epcot. I fact, I love them so much that when we were building our current home 12 years ago, I asked my husband, an electrician, if he could put them in our front walk. And he did, not in the blocks like at Epcot, but in the sand grout between the stone bricks.

I hear you on that. Once you notice something, it does quickly become annoying...

Thanks Tara!
Yes, a patio table at Rose and Crown is always no nice! We’ve been very fortunate in the last 3 or 4 times we’ve eaten here, we’ve asked for outdoor seating, and they’ve come through!

Thanks!
The DS photopass studio is one of those best kept secrets, as whenever we’ve gone in, there is no line. And the results are always a fun surprise. .

How fun is that! I would love that!

I enjoy DS when it’s not shoulder to shoulder crowded!
We woke up at 6:00 with the alarm and after showers and breakfast we were out the door around 7:30. It was EMH at MK, but we ended up waiting at the bus stop until 7:55. And by the time we arrived it was 8:15. And there was a huge mob in the bag check area. It took 15 minutes to get through. Finally, at 8:30 we entered MK. In hindsight, we should have started out earlier on an EMH day.
We went to the hub and scanned our bands to get across the bridge to Fantasyland. We walked through Storybook Circus thinking maybe we’d ride Dumbo, but one side was down and it was about a 15 minute wait, so we decided not to do that.
Barnstormer was a walk on so we rode that just for kicks. Then we rode Under the Sea which was a walk-on as well. After that we used our FP for a meet with Tiana and Rapunzel.
Then a PP op...one of my favorites!
Then we needed to do something inside to get out of the heat, so we did Mickey’s Philharmagic.
After that we headed for Liberty Square. Hall of Presidents had just started, so instead of waiting around for the next show we went to Adventureland, using the restrooms on the way, and climbed Swiss Family Treehouse.
And another PP
Then back to HoP.
Our next FP was for Splash Mountain so we made our way over to Frontierland. As we approached SM, we could see a huge line to check in for FP. We stood in the back for a bit and it wasn’t really moving. Then we found out it wasn’t all FP people, there were quite a few people just standing there waiting for rider swap. Well, move out of the way, instead of waiting in the FP line! The CM hadn’t noticed because he was busy helping someone who had other issues with their MB. Ok, once we passed those folks, we got right in and pretty much walked on the ride. For the first time ever, we got in the front row and I got soaked! Like… drenched through. After the ride I made a stop in the restroom to try and dry off a bit.
Then we headed for BTMR which was our next FP at 11:35. The two girls beside us as we waited to board our train, and then behind us while we rode, were carrying on a loud, annoying conversation the whole time, even on the ride! Stupid!
Then we ran into Mary Poppins!
We were getting hungry, and the original plan was to eat lunch at Pecos Bills, but we decided it was time to head out and that we’d have lunch in our room. We contemplated stopping at Plaza Ice cream Parlor for a snack but the line was out the door.
And then on the way out we ran into the Dapper Dan’s!
Then back to AKL.
We had lunch and spent the afternoon in the room. Jeff took a nap, I iced my feet and relaxed.
Quite an active and tiring morning! It must have felt great to get back to the room! You accomplished so much in a few hours and seemed to enjoy it with the exception of those two girls on BTMRR and those blocking the FP+ line for Splash!

We did get quite a bit in that morning! And yes it was an enjoyable morning.
