My Consolation Vacation – Wildwood - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I know how it is with installments as those on my TRs are usually only on the weekends, when I can find the time for doing them!

Today is Evan’s 8th Birthday. Where does all the time go? It feels like only yesterday he was that little baby in my arms.
I have the next update all set to go - believe it or not but Photobucket is giving me a hassle right now. I'll attempt to post before I leave work today.
Ok I had to go back and read my own TR so far to catch myself back up…
So sorry for such a long delay. With back to school it has taken me awhile to get into a new routine. My boss was out on medical leave most of the summer and therefore I didn’t really get a ton of new projects. Once he came back we have all been playing catch up. But I feel like I’m getting into the groove now.
Anyway – back to the good stuff
When I last left you Evan and I were heading out of the park to get some lunch.
You exit the park through the gift shop, naturally. We did take a few moments to look around and enjoy the AC. Evan picked up a few items.
After making our purchases we stopped at the park entrance to grab a few photos of Evan on the pieces of equipment they had.
Before we made it to the car old “eagle-eye” Evan saw something he just HAD to have. It was a reflexive construction vest. It was only $8.00 so I got it for him. I wasn’t sure if I could pay at the ticket booths or if I had to go back inside the gift shop. I quickly asked a man behind one of the booths and he said I could pay there. As he was ringing us up he was making small talk. He asked Evan how the day was and what was his favorite thing, etc. I commented about the food being a little pricey and that were heading off-site. Turns out he was one of the managers. He gave Evan a $5.00 gift card to use in the arcade – which we put to good use after we came back from lunch.
We headed just up the road and had lunch at Wendy’s. Like I had said before I lived in the same town as Diggerland about 5 years ago so I’m very familiar with the local eateries. Not that Wendy’s was hard to find or anything. Near my current house we have Burger King, McDonald’s and Chick-fil-a but no Wendy’s. This one is the closest so Evan wants to eat there any chance he can get. After lunch we returned back to Diggerland for more fun.
I really have no idea what we did or in what order so I will just post the pictures. We pretty much did everything in the park including a few more rides on the Spin Dizzy.
The Mini Diggers had a few versions. One was just digging. Another was a little ball on the end of the extension and you had to knock over pins like bowling. A third one had a little hook and you had to pick up some ducks out of a barrel and the last one was a slotted fork that combed the sand looking for buried treasure. Evan did all 4 of them. This was a nice thing because each one was timed so that no one person just sat in them forever. It gave everyone a chance to have a turn. I saw many adults in these as well.
I just had to show this photo – whenever Evan is really concentrating on anything he chews his tongue. I think it is so cute.
I have some video of this but don’t have my cable here at work so I’ll try to update it tonight or tomorrow at lunch.
With the photos this is getting a little longer than I expected. I’m gonna break it here and post another update soon to finish off Diggerland.
Happy Birthday to Evan!! Sounds like there are plenty of fun things to do at Diggerland. It's funny that they don't need to do anything to add theming details to the park. Leaving it a construction zone, with chain-link fences and piles of dirt is just right!

The rest of your afternoon sounded great, Evan looked like he was having a fun time! That was a nice gesture from the manager too. I love the picture of Evan chewing his tongue, my oldest does that too when she is concentrating. I can't even tell you how many we have of her with her tongue sticking out while playing soccer
Looks like Evan had a great time at Diggerland! That was quite a nice gesture of the manager with the $5 gift card for the arcade! I'm sure Evan appreciated it!

Believe it or not I haven't forgotten this report.
I keep saying to myself I need to come back and finish it up but as you all know other things often push it out of the way. Work seems to be getting back under control so hopefully I can work on a little catch up at times. I'm feeling organized for the holidays - at this point. Evan's birthday is in October so I already had some items purchased and saved for him for Christmas so I don't have too much more to get. We took a trip to Washington DC last weekend - it was so nice. I wanted to do a mini trip report but doubt I'll be able to get to it. It was Evan's first time in DC and we got to tour the White House. My goal is to have this report all done before the end of the year. That way I can start my PTR for Disney for next summer at some point in 2015.
Thanks for sticking with me - whoever may still be out there....Hello is this thing on?
I'm here, Holly! I know real life takes over sometimes and this is a VERY busy time of year. I look forward to reading the continuing adventures of Holly and Evan whenever you get to it!
