As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Saturday 3 May – part eight: taking a monorail outside of Disney!
Next we headed to the monorail station, which had some history about it…
Almost as soon as we arrived, it was coming into view…
Mark insisted on getting the very end carriage, which carries you round facing backwards, which was a bit disconcerting, but it did give some great views as we went along…

Soon we were passing through the National Motor Museum itself…
Then we were out again…
… and passing the arena they use for special events…
There’s a special event taking place tomorrow, so we both suspected that’s why it was relatively quiet today, as no doubt most people would prefer to come for that instead.
Then we were passing the abbey and its beautiful gardens…
… and we were at the station, and it was time to get off….
We made our way up towards the Palace House, which was lovely…
Here they had a Secret War exhibition, highlighting the role of Beaulieu during the Second World War:
When we came out of there, I walked round to get a couple of photos of the house, but the sun was blinding and, as I wasn’t wearing my contact lenses, I had no sunglasses, so it was playing havoc with my eyes.
Next: thank goodness we were doing the speed limit!
A fun little ride on the monorail! Not quite the same excitement as the WDW ones though....

Fun getting to ride a monorail. I am always a little surprised more places haven't decided to use them - like large zoos. I think that would give a great view over an on road vehicle.

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew

Enjoyed Beaulieu and the Motor Museum. Liked some of the old cars, Formula 1 cars and the buses. Loved the old store windows. Especially, the cheese shop!

Saturday 3 May – part nine: thank goodness we were doing the speed limit!
We headed towards the abbey, but Mark suggested stopping off at the “Ice Cream Cottage”, as it was called, along the way, and that sounded good to me. We both got double scoops – mine was rum and raisin and mint choc chip and his (which looked the same as mine, so I didn’t bother photographing it) was toffee and mint choc chip.
We wandered towards the abbey and sat outside eating our ice creams. The weather was now glorious – in the high 50s and with the sun blazing down. It was just a lovely spring day.
When we were done with our ice creams, we headed inside the abbey...
We made our way into the cloisters, and found a wedding party out there, which was a bit surreal.
However, it turns out that the parish church is located here, so that’s obviously where they’d got married.
We carried on wandering through the cloisters…
I was very impressed to be able to capture this guy!
… and learnt how big this place once was!
We wandered over to the Abbey gardens that we’d passed above earlier on the monorail. It was lovely to again see things in bloom, although I did feel the fountains were in need of a bit of TLC…
We made our way back towards the entrance, called into the gift shop to get the obligatory fridge magnet, and made our way back to the car. We’d both really enjoyed our visit here, and we’d certainly got our money’s worth. By the time we left it was 4:00pm, so we’d spent the best part of half a day here. While there were a lot of people here, we both said it never once felt crowded in here.
We made our way out through the New Forest, once again seeing some beautiful sights…
… including this beauty! You can’t see it in the photo, but there were about three others with him!
There was a 40 mile an hour speed limit all around here, which the motorbike that overtook us chose to ignore, but thank goodness we were sticking to it – and here’s why!
A little further along, we came across some cows, and Mark was able to pull over for me to get out and get some photos of them. Once again, there was no fence between them and the road, so they could wander wherever they wanted…
What a cute church! That wedding couple sure ended up with a beautiful day for a wedding.
Very odd that they don't have fences for the horses or the cows, yikes. I hope all the animals are always ok.
